I Want To Meet Him

"I met Harry," I said to Mum's portrait. "Oh and what was he like?" Mum asked excitedly. "Rude, stupid, obnoxious, and he hates me," I listed. " Well have you introduced yourself properly?" She asked. "I haven't introduced myself at all," I admit. She sighed sadly, smiling at me.
"You know I would like to talk to my son before his Hogwarts years are through," Mum said. "I know Mother, but what can I do his friends told him everything about me?" I asked. "You can take your father up on his offer," she suggested. "And what if he still hates me?" I asked. "How could he hate his own sister?" Mum asked with a charming smile.
I smiled thinking about it. It would be nice to have a relationship with both my brothers, after all Harry is the last link to my mum. "You really think he won't hate me?" I asked with one perfectly raised eyebrow. "I am absolutely certain that once he meets the real you he will stop hating you," she stated. I nodded thoughtfully. I should at least consider it, right? For Mum?
"Then I'll think about asking father- ONLY THINKING ABOUT IT-nothing more," I conceded. "That's all I ask," she sighed, "you know you are a lot like your father." "That's funny he says I'm like you," I pointed out. "He would say that wouldn't he," Mum smiled fondly. She did that a lot. Well her portrait did anyways, only her portrait, the real her would never smile again.
"Now I believe your Grandmother Rose and Grandmama would like to speak with you at sometime today, you know they miss you," she said. "They miss you too," I reminded, "I promise they don't care that you had a son with James." "I know that, and I'll talk to them when you talk to Harry, a real conversation no more hexes or threats," she smirked. "I'll think about it," I said again. "I know you will, now don't keep our family waiting you know Grandmama hates when you're late," she said. "I'll talk to you later Mum," I said. "I'll look forward to it," she said as I left.

Father got back from work at 6 just like he always does. He greeted me with with a quick kiss on the head before heading right upstairs, as always, to talk to Mum's portrait. After all they were best friends long before their marriage and well after their divorce.
Dad always tried to have at least one hour with Mum's portrait a day when we're at Evans Manor. I don't really know what they talk about during that time, but I know not to bother them. Whatever they talked about was important and he deserved his time just like I did.
"You know he comes here a lot," Great Aunt Flora said. "Really? I asked. "Really," she nodded. "What's he talk about?" I asked. "A lot of things you, Draco, their childhood, they can never run out of things to talk about Iris," Aunt Flora explained. "Good, I like that they're talking," I decided. "I do too mon amour," she agreed, "now out with it." "Out with what Auntie?" I asked, feigning ignorance. "I can tell when you're worried about something, now what are you thinking?" She asked.
"Maman veut rencontrer Harry," I finally said. (Mum wants to meet Harry.) "Je pense que c'est une excellente idée," Auntie agreed. (That's a great idea.) "I thought you'd be mad he has dirty blood in him," I said. "Yes it is less than acceptable you're mother had children with a mudblood, but in the end every child deserves to meet their mother," she explained.
I agreed, losing Mum was the worst thing that ever happened I couldn't imagine never having her portrait to speak with. "So I should tell Dad I want to meet him?" I asked. "You should definitely meet him, he is your brother just as much as Draco," she smiled.

Dinner was always a formal affair especially when it was just Dad and I. Today the house elves brought us our meal of Cheeseburgers and fries. "So your mother tells me you're finally ready to consider my offer," Dad said. "Yea, I just think I can't judge him until I actually know him," I said, "I want to meet him." "You know you don't have to do it for us, if you don't want to meet him your Mum and I understand," He said.
"No I want to meet him," I assured him. "Well then when were you thinking we could do next week, or in two weeks, or maybe even have him for Yule?" Father started. "What about for Samhain?" I suggested. "Samhain isn't that cutting it sort of close?" He asked. "Sort of, but Samhain is all about family and Mum is his family," I explained. "Well in that case I'll see what I can do," he promised. "Thank you," I said. "Anything for you sweetie," he said.

The next day I was shaken awake by my father. "Yes?" I asked groggily. "I thought you'll be pleased to know I got a meeting with Dumbledore today," he informed. "So Harry's coming?" I asked. "I'll try my best," he promised. "What if he says no?" I asked.
"Dumbledore's a tricky man, always pulling the right information to get people right where he wants them," Dad started. "Like how he conveniently forgets I'm Harry's sister?" I asked. "Exactly, but now his reign of terror's ending and I can make a pretty good case for us," dad promised. "I believe you," I nodded. "Good, I'm counting on that, now I should go," Father said.
"Bye Dad," I said trapping him in a hug. "Goodbye Lucia," he said planting a kiss on my head before leaving the room to get to his meeting at Hogwarts. I was confident in today. I knew this wouldn't come easy, but my father was willing to defy anyone and anything for me. This would be no different.
