Chapter 10

"WHHAAAATTT?!"

Dakota was shocked by the news she received. She didn't want to believe it. Dakota took deep breaths. Dakota's family, seeing this state, wondered about their daughter's condition.

"Honey, are you okay?" Dakota's father asked his daughter.

Dakota didn't answer. She was now focused on the foreign number calling.

"Where hospital is he in?" Dakota asked. She was scared. She didn't want anything to happen to Sam.

The caller gave the name and address of the hospital. Dakota immediately hung up.

Dakota held her head, took deep breaths, and then began to cry.

Her parents immediately hugged their daughter. Alfred then brought water for Dakota.

Dakota drank the water, but it was hard for her to drink it. It felt so wrong for Dakota to drink it now that Sam was in the hospital.

Dakota handed the glass to Alfred. Alfred placed it on the table.

"Honey you're scaring us, what happened?" Dakota's mother looked very worried for her daughter.

"Sam... He's in the hospital!" Dakota explained to her family.

Daisy was surprised by the news. Alfred was surprised too, as he knew little of the man named Sam. His family didn't seem to understand.

"Honey, who is Sam?" Dakota's mother asked her daughter.

"Sam is the boy my sister loves. They both like each other," Daisy explained.

"Okay then, since this is serious, let's go." Dakota's mom said.

Dakota quickly ran out the door and got into the limo. The others quickly got into the limo as well.

"Bernard, take us to the hospital. This is urgent!" Dakota's father ordered Bernard.

Bernard drove the limo fast. Dakota texted the others while on the road. Heather texted Julia, Nichelle, Jo, Mike, etc. Heather was still offline. Dakota was expecting the biggest support from her right now.

After a while Bernard arrived at the hospital. The others got off and went inside the hospital.

They asked the receptionist there where Sam was. The receptionist told them where Sam was. They all ran there quickly. Dakota was running faster than them.

Dakota quickly burst into Sam's room.

Sam was lying there with plasters all over him. Sam's mother was crying for her son.

"Saaammm!"

Dakota quickly went to Sam. Tears were welling up in her eyes. She didn't want to lose the man she loved so soon.

Sam's mother then turned to Dakota and pulled her aside.

"It's your fault! One of your friends hurt my sweet Samuel! I know it!" Dakota's mother shouted angrily. Dakota was shocked.

"Me? But I love Sam..." Dakota replied.

"If you loved him you would have saved him from that bully bitch! One of the bullies was your best friend! Besides, what business would someone who is friends with bullies have with my son? To bully him more, huh?! Tell me! What did you want from my son, tell me! Tell me!"

The woman started to cry later.

"I'm a single woman raising my son. His father left us and Sam had a childhood without a father factor. He was always bullied. Whenever Sam stood up for himself the bullies would pick on him even more. So Sam tried not to get involved with them but I guess some of you were just trying to keep an eye on my son!" Sam's mother said angrily to Dakota.

"I'm not one of those bullies, if I saw Sam getting bullied I would protect him." Dakota explained.

"Sam told me that he and his bully were "friends" before he got into this situation. Also, did you talk to that bully about this or something? He believed it and look at his condition now! If he dies, I will make your life hell!"

Dakota started to become even more emotional after these harsh words.

Dakota took Sam's hand and said to him.

"I will find the scum that made you like this, I promise you!"

After kissing Sam's hand, Dakota sadly left the room.

Sam looked flushed from the kiss, but no one else seemed to notice.

Dakota saw her family and hugged them.

"Is Sam okay?" Daisy asked.

"It's not good but the worst part is that her mother hates me and says it's my fault..." Dakota explained.

"How could that woman talk to our daughter like that?!" Dakota's father asked.

"Please don't come in, I understand that, that's how I would react if I were you... what if this whole thing is really my fault?" Dakota asked.

"Where's that stupid question coming from Dak?! You're one of the people who cares about her the most and you've only known her for a week. Do you think we'd be here if you didn't care about her?" Daisy asked her sister.

"No but... I don't know. I'll talk to the others." Dakota said before leaving the others.

After Dakota left, the others sat on chairs outside the room.

Dakota called Heather on her phone. Heather wasn't answering. She called again but she didn't answer that either. Dakota tried calling Heather 5 times but couldn't reach her. She then texted her. Dakota was disappointed with what she did. What friend would leave their best friend alone at their worst?

Dakota then called Mike. Mike answered the phone.

"Hey Dakota, how you doing?" Mike asked.

"I... can you get to the position I'm throwing at you?! I want someone with me right now. Also, if you can get to Scarlett, get her to come here too."

"Okay, but why her?" Mike asked.

"Because we have a criminal to find," Dakota said in a sharp tone.

"Okay, I'll call him. I'll come over later. Also, can you WhatsApp me the location?" Mike asked.

"Okay, but hurry up. If you don't come, I'll call Julia and Nichelle too."

"Okay. I'll see you later. Also, if you're not feeling well, grab yourself something to eat. I can get you some snacks if you want."

Dakota blushed.

"Thanks for your thoughts, Mike."

"It's okay, friends are for these days, in good times and bad times."

Dakota then hung up.

The sentence Mike said began to repeat in his head.

"Friends are for these days, in good times and in bad times."

...

If this statement is true, why wasn't Heather there for her best friend?

Or... was she a fake friend?

Dakota didn't want to believe it, but out of her group of friends, Heather had the worst heart. She knew about her bullies. At least some of them. Dakota didn't care about them. Julia and Heather were more bullies, but Dakota and Lindsay didn't have the bullying edge. Nichelle was a middle mix. She didn't usually get involved. Dakota hoped one of her closest friends hadn't done this.

While Dakota was walking around the hospital for a bit, Daisy and her family were still sitting on the other side.

After a while, Daisy's father's phone rang. Mr. Milton answered the phone. Then he called his wife, Mrs. Milton, and they walked away from Daisy.

Daisy sighed.

She loved her family, but she didn't like how they were always busy with their work. Dakota complained about it too, but Daisy was the less popular factor in the family. Her being a baby was another level of weird anyway...

Daisy saw Sam's mother, holding her son's hand.

Daisy couldn't stand the sad state of that poor woman and went inside.

Daisy took some crackers out of her bag.

Then she handed it to the woman.

The woman was surprised but accepted the cracker offer. While the woman was eating the cracker, she had some time to calm down.

"You're that girl's sister, aren't you?" the woman asked Daisy.

"Yeah." Daisy replied.

"I want to apologize for my anger at that moment. He wasn't the one at fault, but... I lost myself so much at that moment... some unwanted words came out."

The woman sighed.

"I was so happy when Sam told me he made new friends. He texted me before he came home today that he and Heather had gotten back together. I don't know how happy Sam was at the time, but I was a little scared. No offense if he's your friend, but I don't trust him one bit," she explained.

"I can agree with you on that. Heather is a girl I don't like either, but my sister loves her a lot. I don't know if Heather is a good girl at heart, but she treats Dakota very well. Maybe because we're rich and beautiful, but... I don't know if Heather really loves Dakota. And I don't know if Heather did it, but... I hope she didn't go that far," Daisy said hopefully.

"I think she did it, but it's not like she could do it alone. Heather isn't that strong, is she?" the woman asked Daisy.

"Of course not, she's good but she's not that strong. Besides... do you really think she did that? I mean, I don't like Heather but... would she go that far? I mean, would she be such a low-level bitch that she would kill a life?" Daisy asked Sam's mother.

"I don't know, but I think he did it..."

Sam's mother sighed.

"What would I do here alone if my only son didn't wake up? He was my only reason for living. I left my family for that whore of a husband... Sam is my only reason for living... I can't lose him too..."

Daisy hugged the woman. The woman continued to cry on Daisy's shoulders.

Sam was going to be fine.

It had to be good...

(To be continued)

Note: I didn't know how to start the chapter but I finally started. Also Scarlett will be the focus in this story :)) I hope I wrote Sam's mother well. I can understand Sam's mother's feelings very well... a mother wants everything for her child. She wants to see her happy. If I were to give a name to Sam's mother, I would call her Samantha but as long as she doesn't ask about her name, it will stay like this. I don't know if we are coming to the end or if we are getting more tense. This chapter is a bit long. I was going to finish it shorter normally but I found a way to make the chapter a bit longer. I hope you like the chapter. See you in other stories, know that I love you very much :))
