These Days, Nico

5:30 am, Monday.

Sugru has always stuck to a strict routine, there is nothing wrong with that. While it had led to mockery from some, flavorful, peers, it has never concerned him. The consistency and dedication to a specific schedule and order just fits his life.
Wake up. Make breakfast. Work out. Shower. Get ready. Go to work. Teach. Come home. Make dinner. A light workout followed by meditation. Shower. Sleep. That is the general gist of his life for the past five years.

Geto thoroughly enjoys his home, it’s quaint, comfortably tiny, and the perfect distance from work. He hated, loathed, despised, the idea of having to drive the work. It would feel too corporate. However he would not have wanted to be less than twenty minutes away

He’d walk out of his apartment, down the street to the train station. Fifteen minutes. The consistent length of the train ride he has taken for five years. Off the train past the convenient markets, coffee shops, and bakeries all lead up to Kyoto Prefecture Jujutsu High.

The best time of year was upon the third year he’d been working. The Kyoto Sister-School Event. Geto never knew why, but this was always his favorite point in the school year. Odd in comparison to when he went to high school and would dread the idea of the event in its entirety.

The sun hung above them. 12:30: the time following lunch. Todo had been out on an excursion, leaving the educator with two of his third years. They were reviewing basic training followed by running a mile.

“Hey Geto sensei, why are you in such a good mood? It’s kinda weird.” remarked Momo

“Wow!” a slight giggle followed Getos words “ Am I often that unpleasant? But if it’s an itch you need scratched, I adore the sister school event, I’m counting down the days at this point.”

“Why?” Kamo, exhaustively, sat up from where he had been resting after running in the heat. “That doesn’t make sense, don’t you just have to sit and watch us fight? It’s not as if you’re doing anything productive all day, your job is to watch us fail so you can recommend the students at the Tokyo school” He hunched to his feet, grasping for the water bottle that coolly perched on the bench.

“The two of you are so cynical without Todo, huh? Well, I was going to tell you but these belligerent remarks make me want to keep you guessing!” Geto’s tone is as consistent as ever. In all honesty he didn’t really know why the event was a jaunt to work. However, the two will alert Todo that their teacher is hiding something about him and they’ll bug him about this so he’ll have to start coming up with lies- not lies, half truths- to this dilemma.

4:30. Check on his students before leaving school and returning home. Past the bakeries, cafes, and convenient markets to the train. The train ride lasts fifteen minutes but feels longer. Up the street into his apartment.

Dinner. A light workout. Shower. Meditate. Sleep. He enjoys his life, he just gets lonely.

Lying in bed he gets a notification on his phone. Satoru: “heyyyyy suguruu can’t wait for my first years to completely destroy ur lame-o third yearzz :p”

What a bumbling idiot, he wasn’t going to respond but, because the message made a warm glow in his chest intensify he responded: “Whatever. You text like you’re still in highschool. I’m not going to indulge in petty beef in which you will clearly be a loser.”

The conversation seemed to go quiet after a few more messages back and forth, ending with a message from Satoru: “ur so cocky jst wait for my students… goodnight sugapoo don’t worry ur pretty head 2 much wouldn’t want ur hair to lose its magic ;)”

Again, what an idiot. Such a childish grown man, it scares Suguru how one man can be so powerful yet so foolish.
