Chapter 8

Sun has noticed a few things since joining Hogwarts, he and Moon had been a lot more happier and it's slowly getting more and more, Suns a lot less nervous if he was left alone for a little while, still nervous but not as bad.

He's also noticed Moon has been a lot more talkative with people, either it's with their friends, Professors, Suns also seen Moon help people during classes when they were stuck on something, Moon would help walk them through it, he's still a bit distant with new people but he's doing his best.

And since helping Minireena a few weeks ago, the twins have released how much they adore children and making them happy, making them feel safe, protected, making feel how they wanted to feel all their childhood.

The past few weeks they've been talking about something they really want to do, but it's in the Muggle world and could only happen on weekends, they're not sure how anyone would react if they told them but they couldn't keep it to themselves much longer.

"We have to try!" Sun says, "If we don't we'll never know if it could happen or not."

"But how?" Moon says, "How do you think we'll be able to get our hands on building or anything we need?"

Sun flops on their bed, "I don't know... Dumbledore maybe? Or even Freddy? Mari? DJ? UGH! This is so stupid" Sun grabs their pillow and plops it over their face.

Moon swings their legs and stands up from their bed, grabbing a hoodie and throwing it on.

Sun moves the pillow away and sits up, "And where are you going?"

"For a walk," Moon grabs his shoes and tries them on, "Maybe the air will help come up with an idea."

"Don't be too long ok?" Sun rolls to be on his stomach, facing Moon, "It'll start getting late soon."

"I won't," Moon looks over his shoulder with a smile, "I promise, Cya."

"Bye bye!" Sun waves as Moon closes the door.

Sun pushes off of the bed and pulls out a whiteboard from underneath, a pretty big whiteboard, in the corners there were little drawing of the Sun and Moon surrounded by little stars, on the board was a drawn out calendar of activity's the twins have planned for when they get time off of classes, such ad break, lunch or after classes.

They've both got their first flying lesson with Mari on Friday after school, Sun was both excited and nervous for the lesson, Sun calls it Nervicited, combining the two words.

The whiteboard was big enough for some space in one of the corners to add more little doodles, Sun grabs a blue whiteboard marker and starts doodling.

Moon hated to lie to Sun, but this was for a good reason, Moon was going for a walk but not to get some air, he was walking to Dumbledores office to ask about their idea, they thought if Dumbledore agrees to help, it could be a surprise for Sun, but if Dumbledore doesn't agree, then Moon can take the lecture himself instead of both of them.

Moon dodges and weaves through the crowded hallways, trying to avoid the Glamrocks so they won't be stopped halfway through their plan, they haven't seen them yet so he carries on.

They get to Dumbledores office without being stopped, thank god, he knocks a few times and then opens the door.

"Ah, Moondrop, what a surprise," Dumbledore looks up from the papers on his desk, "come, take a seat" he points to the chair in front of his desk with his quill.

Moon walks in and sits down, Dumbledore puts his quill away and folds his hands together, "What brings you here?"

Moon takes a breath and hesitantly slips the ring off, placing it in the pockets of his hoodie, "I wanted to ask about an idea Sun and I have had for a while."

"And what would that idea be?" Dumbledore asks.

"I-It's a Daycare, but in the Muggle world."

Dumbledores expression falls and he sits up slightly, "The Muggle world? Why's that?"

"S-So we could care for children in both the Muggle world and Wizard world, and the children wouldn't have a wand or learned anything magical yet, so they could hide it and not be caught."

"But what about You and Sun? You might accidentally use your flight."

"And when we have our lessons on controlling it we could learn to not use it accidentally" Moon grips at the seat of the chair.

Dumbledore doesn't say anything and seems to be thinking, so Moon continues.

"You know we didn't have the best childhood, so we want to make children happy and care for them in the way we never had... make them feel safe, protected... wanted..."

Dumbledore hums, "but what about your school work?"

"We could open the Daycare on Friday afternoons and Weekends," Moon pushes on the desk and stands up, "Or we could do the work after closing times, we'll find a way but please Professor..." Moon slouches a little, "we need this..."

Dumbledores expression stays neutral but it's clear that he's thinking about it, Moon worries that they might have been too harsh or forceful towards the Professor, sliding back down to the chair, looking away from the desk.

"Well, you can't keep a Daycare open just for 3 days a week, so we will change your schedules to fit with the times when we come up with them."

Moons head shoots back up to the head master, "huh?"

Dumbledore stands and puts his hands on Moon shoulders, "What you and Sun want to do is a great idea, Moondrop, I completely understand where you both are coming from and I agree fully, I will do everything I can to make your Daycare happen, for Muggles and Magic folk."

Moon feels as if they could cry, they assume they are when Dumbledore wipes their cheek, "Does Sun even know you're here? I saw you take the ring off."

Moon shakes their head, "No, I thought it could be a surprise if you agreed."

Dumbledore smiles, "The only thing I fear that could come from this, I'm not sure how parents would react to leaving their children with, well, children."

"Then thats just another challenge we will have to face and win, we will show the parents that we can do just as well as adults."

"I'm sure you will," Dumbledore nods, "You should get back to your dorm, the suns almost set."

"Ok, ok I will! Thank you Professor!" Moon runs out the office with a bounce in his run.

Dumbledore is glad to see that Moon is actually trying to talk to people, he remembers when he first met the boy, he didn't say a lot, very quiet, but now they're speaking up and more animated, Dumbledores seen how the twins have grown and what they've learnt in the past month, they've really let loose and are a lot more brighter.

That's why Dumbledore will do anything in his power to make this Daycare happen, no matter what it will happen.

Friday rolled around faster then they'd thought, and that meant it was flying lessons, Sun and Moon were both equally nervous but they pushed through the nerves.

Mari had told The Glamrocks where they'd be practicing after school, the Quittage pitch, so that's where they're going now school had ended for the week.

"How do you think they've been so far? It's already been about an hour" Chica says.

"I don't see how different it is from using a broom," Monty says, "It's gotta be the same thing but just without one, right?"

"How would you know?" Roxy says, "Turning might slightly the same, but how do you expect to go up and down?"

"Turn up turn down?" Monty shrugs, Roxy rolls her eyes.

"We'll see once we get there," Freddy says, "Mari's with them, I'm sure they're doing fine."

They get through the tunnel and at the exit, before stepping out, something flew past them at a rapid speed.

"I can't slow down!" Moon screams.

Sun follows behind, zooming through the air and past The Glamrocks, rotating in flips and screaming.

Mari was floating in the air, watching them zoom around, they spot the Glamrocks and motion for them to step out.

Freddy looks left and right before walking out into the open, making sure no more 11 year olds will take him out, it's clear so they all walk out into the open, Mari floats down and hovers above the ground.

"Things aren't working too well?" Freddy tilts his head.

"Well," Mari rubs the back of their neck, "At least they're off the ground" Mari ducks their head as Sun flys over, unable to slow down, Mari hands their arms down and sighs, "I've already taught them what I did to fly, but it's clearly not working too well."

Monty leans to the side and looks behind Mari, "Uh, Mari, you might want to deal with that."

Mari turns around and sees Sun and Moon had been able to grab one of the Quittage goal posts and hold themselves up, at least they've stopped themselves.

"Oh strings, stay there boys!" Mari flys over to the twins to help them down, carrying them down themselves.

"We'll take a break for now" Mari says, they place them on the ground and they both stumble around, almost falling multiple times, Moon almost did fall over if it wasn't for Sun pulling him back up.

"Is the world spinning faster then normal to you?" Moon says.

Mari smiles and helps the boys back inside with The Glamrocks, they go to the main hall and sit at the mainly empty Hufflepuff table, Mari says goodbye and that they'll be back soon, then disapparating away.

Mari shows up in the house and flops backwards on the couch, DJ was is the room as they did this and stopped what he was doing.

"How did it go?" He asks.

Mari sits up, "Could've gone better, even for beginners- flying is usually not that hard to get around, I've taught them all that I know but it doesn't seem to help much, they can float up and down easy enough, it's the turning, speed and stopping that they're struggling with."

DJ sat next to Mari as they spoke, "So it wasn't a complete failure, you've taught them all you can and helped them with a few things, that's a start."

"I know I can't expect them to get it straight away and I knew they wouldn't, I just wanted to help them, actually do something together as a family..." Mari looks up to DJ, "What if they never think of me as family?"

DJ was taken aback, "Why wouldn't they? Mari you've been more of a mother to them then anyone has, even just teaching them to fly, singing to them, caring and worrying for them is what mothers and family do, and I'm positive! That once they're ready to know, they will love you."

Mari frown and looks away from DJ, but leans onto his side, DJ puts an arm behind Mari, "Don't you remember your first time flying?"

Mari huffs a small laugh, "I know I know, but I got the hang on it at the end of the day."

"After you crashed through a Hogwarts window and into a classroom while a class was going on?"

Mari chuckles at the memory, "Sprout was not happy."

DJ chuckles too at the memory, Mari had flew into through the greenhouse door and accidentally knocked and broke a few things at the impact, Sprout ran into the room and saw Mari covered in dirt on the ground in the middle of the mess, despite it being an accident they still served their first detention in their 3rd year.

"But like you said, you got the hang of it, and how did you do that?" DJ says.

"I imagined I was as free as a balloon and..." Mari shoots up and turns to DJ, "DJ you're a genius!"

"You got an idea?"

"Thanks to you! I know how to help them now!"

Chica was making something with some sparkly things and cardboard, Sun leans over to see what she's doing.

"What's that?" Sun asks.

"It's a kaleidoscope," Chica holds it to her eye and spins the bottom, she smiles and lends it to Sun, "look through here and turn the bottom."

Sun takes it and looks through the top where Chica had pointed, it was very colourful inside and when Sun turned the bottom, it all moved and shuffled around, Sun gasps in slowly and pats Moons arm while still looking inside.

"Moon, Moony look at this" Sun hands Moon the kaleidoscope and showed him how to use it, Moon copies Sun and looks into the top and turns the bottom.

"What is this?" Moon asks, not looking away from the colours.

"Uhh," Sun turns back to Chica, "what was it called?"

"It's a kaleidoscope, it makes cool and colourful patterns" Chica smiles at how the twins reacted, she doesn't even think Moon heard her as he was fixed into the kaleidoscope.

"Yeah, that," Sun turns back to Moon, "let me have a go now" Sun reaches out to grab it but Moon turns away, "Moony."

"No way, this thing is mine now" Moon says.

"Moony" Sun makes an unimpressed expression towards Moon.

"Shapes and colours" Moon mumbles under their breath, still looking into the kaleidoscope.

"Please?" Sun asks with an upset tone.

Ok now Moon felt bad, they turned back and handed Sun the shapes and colours device back, Sun thanked him and played with it.

"I could make you another one" Chica offers.

"Can you show me how you made it?" Moon asks.

"Of course I can, come here, I'll show you."

Chica had a lot of arts and crafts with her, she showed the twins how to make kaleidoscopes, paper snowflakes (after having to explain what a snowflake and snow was), paper chains, origami, and even introduced them to glitter glue which Sun enjoyed way to much.

"You've never seen snow before?" Roxy walks over and sits with the trio.

"Never, but it sounds really fun!" Sun says.

"It is!" Chica says, "Snow if great! You can have snowball fights, you can build a snowman, make snow angels, build almost anything!"

"Wow! I hope it snows soon!" Sun says.

"I mean, Halloween has passed so it shouldn't be long maybe" Roxy says.

"Hallo... ween?" Moon tilts his head, the same confused expression as Sun.

"It's 31st of October, so last week," Roxy says, "It's just a day full of scares and scary things."

"Oh, I don't like the sound of that" Sun says, Moon just shrugs but says to Sun through the rings that he agrees.

"I'm sure you'll like Christmas," Chica says, "that's when it usually snows."

"And Christmas is?" Moon flicks a wrist in a circle, motioning to Chica or Roxy to explain.

"You get and give presents to family and or friends, you spend time with them, play games, do fun things, have a big feast, it's really just a time when you can spend time with the people you consider family" Chica explains.

"Aww that sounds nice!" Sun smiles, "I can't wait for Christmas!"

"Sounds sappy" Moon says, getting a hit on the arm from Sun, turning into Sun grabbing Moons arm and leading them outside the main hall.

"Whats with you?" Sun says, "We've been here for over 2 months now and you still act like this around our friends."

"Not all of the time," Moon says, "And I don't know why, it just happened..." Moon looks away and Sun gives a concerned frown, "I know I can trust them and I do, I really don't mean too and I do want it to stop... I just don't know how."

Sun puts a hand on Moons shoulder, their little brother looking up at their older brother, "Well, for starters it'll probably be easier for you when or if we get our Daycare going, that way you'll have to get over it when speaking to parents, that could be a good way to start, right?"

Moon smiles slightly, "Yeah, that could work" they lean forward and press their forehead on Suns, Sun pressing back, "I'm sorry..."

"You don't need to be sorry for anything," Sun says, "I know why it happens and I'm sorry for dragging you out, I was just worried about you."

"I'm ok, I promise I'll try harder to... well, be nicer?"

Sun huffs out a laugh, "You are nice, Moony, you just need to relax and let your guard down a little, and, well, try to be a kid..."

"...then you promise me this," Moons holds up a pinky finger, "once we've both gotten better, we'll try and be kids together, promise?"

Sun smiles and hooks his pinky finger with Moons, "I promise."

It was getting late, around 9 or 10pm, The Glamrocks had gone home to get ready for bed, when they got back they saw Mari and DJ talking in the kitchen, Chica and Roxy went upstairs to shower and change for bed, Monty and Freddy stayed downstairs and sat in the living room.

They both saw Mari was smiling and seemed happy, but those purple marks say otherwise, they might be happy maybe, but their true inside feelings are exposed through violet streams.

Shortly after their conversation, Mari claps their hands together, "Right, Imma go see the Droplets."

Monty spits out his drink, "see who?"

"Sun and Moon," Mari says, "Droplets is a nickname for them both, I think it's cute."

"I think it's cute!" Freddy smiles.

Monty rolls his head back and flings his legs up and over to stand, "DJ, can you throw me a towel?"

"I'll see you all later" Mari says, before disapparating away and appearing in the Quittage pitch, were surprisingly, the twins were there, Sun was floating with their legs up and holding onto Moons reached out arms, holding them to not float away.

Mari sees them and feels the panic build up, they try to push it down the best they can but can't keep it down for long.

They slowly walk over to not startle the boys, Sun and Moon both turn their heads and see Mari walking over, Sun floats down with Moons arms guiding them to the ground, landing softly.

"What are you two doing?" Mari tries to hide their panic.

"We wanted to practice flying," Sun bumps their knuckles together, "So next time we could impress you and show how much we've improved..."

Mari holds their hands to their chest, "Aw boys, you've both impressed me more then enough."

"How? We can only control going up and down" Moon says.

"And that's more then enough to impress someone," Mari says, "I'm also surprised that you're both out here in the dark, especially you Sun."

"I-I'm working on it," Sun rubs the back of his neck, "can't stay afraid of the dark forever."

Mari turns up to face the Moon, "I'm sure the Moon light helps too, so it's not completely dark" they turn back to the boys, "I have in idea that might help you both with flying, but I need you both to trust me completely."

Sun and Moon share a glance then look back up to Mari, they both nod once, Mari's shoulder relax down and they smile warmly, holding out their hands for the twins to grab, then slowly pulls them both up into the air.

The twins float on their own but Mari doesn't let them let go, Mari takes a breath and starts to sing.

"So many years, so many dark memories, so many fears we've now put... to ease, pain makes you things you never knew you could do, is this all real? Or just déjà vu~"

Mari rubs their thumbs over the kids hands slowly, just by those few words, Sun and Moon get an idea that this song is about them...

"Cause now the party's over~ now the guests are gone~ it's already past our bedtime~ it's already almost done~" Mari slowly raises higher then the twins, letting their hands slide out as they lift higher and holds their arms out to the sides, slowly spinning in place.

"Just like balloons! We sore on our own!" Mari pulls their knees up slightly and looks down at the twins, hands to their chest, "Finally free from the pain of our home! And just like balloons that no one will hold" Mari floats back down to the twins, grabbing their hands again gently, "free from the truth, that no one will know~" Mari tucks a piece of hair from Suns face to behind his ear, "know one will know~"

Sun looks down and raises their shoulder slightly, Moon looks away and bites the inside of their cheek.

"Just little children, not at all strange..."

Sun takes a small breath and sings his own part, "until the lights went out" Sun shakes his head slowly, "and everything changed."

Moon looks back to Sun with a concerned frown, but he knows Sun was right.

Sun starts again, "Alone and afraid, for oh so long... wondering what, did we do wrong?~" Sun looks up to Mari, their eyes were glossy like they were about to cry.

"Cause now the party's over, and everyone is red~" Mari sings.

"I feel sick to my stomach..." Sun sings.

"Or am I sick in the head?~" Moon sings, now looking up at Mari.

Mari slowly rises higher and the twins join them, all three now singing together.

"Just like balloons! We sore on our own! Finally free from the pain of our home! And just like balloons! That no one will hold... free from the truth... that no one will know~"

"All of the pain..." Moons head slowly fall.

"Far in the past" Sun sings, Moons head lifts again and turns to him.

"Yet echoes of screams," Sun sings.

Mari let's their hands go and they grab each other's, raising into the air on their own.

"Forever will last!~" Moon sings.

Mari looks up and watches the twins dance around in the sky, now singing on their own, they couldn't help but smile and feel tears begin to form, they're so happy for their boys... they weren't able to watch them grow properly, but they can watch them grow now...

"Free from the truth, that know~ one~" they float back down and pull Mari into a tight hug, "knows~"

Tears begin to fall from Mari's eyes and they pull their boys close, never wanting to let go, "no one knows~" they sing quietly, finishing the song.
