Impending... Doom? No that's not right.
~Present day~
"Wait so, after he passed out he was taken to the hospital and... what happened?" Vivian asked, trying to fully comprehend what she was hearing.
"The doctor there did some tests to figure out why he had passed out, at first they were under the impression it was a gas leak." Athena said as she adjusted her posture, a tinge of nervousness in her expression.
"And they said they found something Abnormal, they wouldn't explain what it was. They said it wasn't natural, but refused to elaborate." Athena explained, her tone gave off the impression she wasn't sure of her own words
"Well an unnatural testing result could mean a lot of things, but I can understand your worry..." Vivian said as she trailed off, her hands drifting towards the drawer next to her as she opened it and pulled out a file.
"Where was it you said this happened? Which warehouse was it?" Vivian questioned, not looking up at Athena as she flips through the file.
"The warehouse on 5th, he was responding to a call." Athena answered, a look of confusion flashing on her face as she looked at the file
"Wait, did you he was responding to a call? As in... he wasn't the only one there?" Vivian questioned as she looked up at Athena, her tone and facial expressions not giving much way to her thoughts
"Yeah, the 118 was responding to the call, they went to the hospital with him. "
"Were they conscious during that trip?"
"No?"
"And you didn't think to mention this before?" Vivian said with a concerned tone, she pushed herself back from the desk and stood up, placing the file she grabbed into her bag and walking towards the door.
"No it entirely slipped my mind- Where are you going?" Athena questioned, watching as the Woman walked towards the door way.
"The hospital, I've gotta make a few calls on the way there, do you mind driving?" Vivian questioned in a tone that left no room to say no.
"Yeah- yeah, I can drive." Athena said with a confused expression, following behind Vivian regardless as she walked out of the room and towards the elevators.
As they're walking out the younger woman threw a file onto the front counter and asking for the secretary to "Prep Room 31A" and something about sending transport to the hospital.
~●~●~
The entire drive to the hospital was a blur to put it gently. While Athena drove the younger woman in the passenger seat had been arguing on the phone. Despite the loudness of the conversation going on next to her, she barely got anything coherent out of listening.
The only distinct points from the conversion she made out were; Vivian was clearly having issues getting a room prepped on such short notice.
The younger woman also seemed to have switched who she was talking to at one point as her tone slowed and had more calm in it.
And finally, it seemed as though Vivian thought it was urgent that none of them remained in the hospital longer than absolutely necessary.
Despite all that, she still had no clue of; why Vivian was in such a rush to get them out of the hospital, why the younger woman looked like she was about to rip her hair out while on the phone, and-
Athena's subconscious listing was interrupted by a loud bark of orders coming from the woman next to her.
"Just get a damn room ready by time I'm back or so help me god!" The younger woman had exclaimed with a tone that indicated she was livid, she hung up the phone quickly after and took in a deep breath.
"What was all that about?" Athena had questioned, not even realizing she was asking it aloud until the other woman responded
"I'm over-booked which is why I wasn't taking any new clients. But the people downstairs who operate the rooms like to be 'prickly' when they have to prep a room they've just finished with. " Vivian said with a groan before she muttered an incoherent insult under her breath. The insult was audible but it sounded like a jumble of words, or maybe another language rather than anything coherent. There was no real way of knowing it was an insult other than tone, but it definitely felt like one.
"I apologize for making you have more reasons to be stressed out." Athena hadn't even finished her sentence before Vivian had cut her off.
"Don't be, when I said I owe you I meant it, just because people at work are being a pain doesn't mean I would backtrack on that promise." Vivian said in a tone that left no room for argument, a theme arising in how Vivian spoke.
"Doesn't mean I can't feel bad for adding to your already busy schedule." Athena had sent back, not going any further than that as she pulled into the hospital.
