The savior becomes the saved
Vivian was sitting on the floor of her office, groaning out of exhaustion, setting her head back and leaning it against the bottom of her chair.
A loud voice calls out for the young woman who was going through files and paperwork under her desk "Vivian!" A loud voice sounded from the doorway almost sounding like a groan. a loud bang run through the room as Vivian sat up, fully forgetting she was under the desk, slamming the back of her head into the bottom of the desk.
"Shit!" The young woman cried out, grasping at the back of her head before a laugh sounded from the doorway "That really hurt don't laugh at me!"
"I'm sorry I couldn't help myself that was hilarious," the woman in the doorway said as she stepped in, offering Vivian a hand "There's a desk there, watch your head."
"Oh, now you tell me?" Vivian snarked back, her tone filled with sarcasm, dropping her arm from where she was rubbing her head "So what did you need before you so rudely startled me, Mel."
"You know very well that was your own fault, kid. Putting that aside, you have a visitor," The woman said with a more serious tone, leaving the light-hearted tone to fall behind.
"A visitor? Like... a client? Or someone I know? I thought I was on a temporary absence, clients can't request me until next week, Melantha." The younger woman said with a confused tone.
"Maybe a bit of both? I didn't quite catch her name but... she seemed serious, I told her you weren't in a position to take new clients, but she swore she'd only take you sooo.." the older woman trailed off leaving her sentence open.
"You wanted me to talk to her... okay send her in if you think it's important, but just know I will exercise my right to deny her if it's not important," Vivian said with a raise of her brow.
"Thanks, Vi I'll send her in, play nice though she seems worried about something which I guess isn't abnormal for your clients but... something seems off about it." The woman said this in a way that caused Vivian to tilt her head in confusion, a bit like a cat.
"Don't worry about it I'm sure it's fine," Mel said with a dismissive shake of her head. "Just talk to her and you'll figure out if something was actually off about it or not." She said as she stepped out of the room, leaving Vivian alone.
"Weird." Vivian grumbled to herself as she picked up the files she left scattered, looking at the unorganized pile she was working on "I'll finish it tomorrow," she grumbled to herself as she set them in her drawer, knowing full well she won't.

Vivian had been working for a company that specialized in all kinds of areas of science, she was a scientist who specialized in mystic exposure. Because of the scarcity of her profession, she was often requested for specific reasons.
Most of her clients tended to he high-class citizens exposed to an object they bought off the black market, and all logs of her findings were sealed from most of the company.
Only she, Melantha Samara,- her supervisor and best friend- and those at the highest positions in the company had access to her files, so she worked with a lot of shady people.
A few minutes later, a vaguely familiar woman walked in. Her stance was firm, on edge like she was prepared for something to happen at any second. 'A police officer?' Lingered in Vivian's mind before shaking her head and clearing her thoughts.
After noticing the woman was just standing there staring for a moment, Vivian broke the silence. "Please sit down, could I get you anything to drink?"
The other woman obliged, sitting down in the chair in front of Vivian's desk. "No that won't be necessary, but thank you anyway," the woman said as she trailed off, seemingly distracted. Not by anything in particular but she was definitely not all present.
Vivian sat down as well, when she noticed the woman's seemingly absent mind she spoke up "So what brings you in today? I'm sure Mel informed you I'm not taking new clients until next week, correct?"
The other woman nodded, "I was actually hoping you could make an exception. My name is Athena Grant-" The woman hadn't even finished her sentence before Vivian interrupted.
"Sergeant Grant, LAPD?" Vivian questioned quickly, her tone less questioning and more generally confused
"So you do remember me." The woman across from her said with a hesitant smile, she knew that she was owed a favor but after insisting she wouldn't need one she was hesitant to backtrack.
"How could I forget, my sister was one of the people you saved during the case on Hudson, which... thank you again for, she's been doing so much better since." Vivian said with a smile, her sister was one Jefferey Hudson's victims and she'd never forgiven herself for not realizing what happened. Atleast until she heard on the news the man was shot by Sergeant Athena grant, the same woman who had arrested him months back.
"So... are you here to call in that favor I promised you? Because I'm sure I can squeeze you in.. though I'm worried why you're coming to me, you weren't caught up in anything were you?" Vivian tilted her head with curiosity, her face laced with worry.
"No, no. Not me, my Husband actually" she said with a hesitant tone, her face was filled with something akin to worry, or perhaps confusion, Vivian thought.
"I'm so sorry. Athena, is he here? If he was exposed to something, we should get him into a room downstairs until we know what he was exposed to, could you tell me more?”
