Chapter 5

"Well, that was definitely an experience Anglia."
"It really was our wands are all either very old, unpredictable or dangerous. Do not fool around with them, even at school." The last part clearly directed at Gilbert and Vlad. "Anyways, we still need to get a few more things, like a pet. Also thank you for the books, Natalya and Lukas."
"It saves us time besides we got some books for ourselves," Norway said.
"Also, you have to explain what that 2p stuff was, it was weird, and I need to know about it." Said Natalya commandingly. Arthur instinctively got out of the way of the scary nation and said, "We will, but once we get home, it's a complicated subject and involves some very dark magic."
"Seems interesting," Natalya said quietly.
"Can we please get a pet?" Gilbert and Vlad both said, attempting the puppy dog eyes which Vlad was pulling off amazingly well and Gilbert was clearly not. He looked more likely to stab you in the stomach with a spoon.
"We needed one anyway, so sure. But you must share them because they are bloody expensive. Natalya and Ivan will have to share as well, so that leaves me and Lukas to share something."
They traipsed into the Magical Menagerie, a crowded, smelly, noisy shop not too far away, there were cages stacked up high with mice, snakes, owls, and much more. Before Gilbert and Vlad could rush off, they were blocked by Ivan who didn't even need to be told to do it. Lukas said "Since we will have to share our pets, I suggest someone gets an owl, they are useful and are used for sending messages. But only one since they are expensive." The red-eyed children took the information and started browsing the owl section of the store for a suitable one, Natalya and Ivan headed off towards the cat area. That left Arthur and Lukas to find a suitable pet.
"I don't want a toad; they remind me way too much of Francis and the time he got into my potions, and I had to kiss him to turn him back to normal," Arthur said in disgust. Lukas spluttered and wheezed while his friend blushed bright red.
"You seriously did that!?" he said while trying to catch his breath.
"What, the wanker wouldn't leave me alone, so I did what I must." Said England still very red.
They both walked down into the basement where they knew the snakes and lizards were kept, they both loved reptiles too much and they both knew that they wouldn't be able to bring one to school. It didn't stop them from trying though.
They browsed the sections of snakes, many of them were just normal garden snakes and wall lizards, most of them seemed really bored and many knew their organs would be harvested for potions and the like. They both walked over to a small tank at the back of the room, it held two very different looking snakes, one was almost pure white with very blue eyes and the other was almost yellow with emerald, green eyes. They were both strangely attracted to the snakes and when they saw the price of both snakes being 3 galleons and took them. Not before consulting the snakes first, they both hissed "Would you like to be taken to Hogwarts as our familiars."
The snakes looked surprised to be talked to and responded with "Sssspeakers are rare thesse days, and even fffewer care about their fffamilliarss, we know that you are not what you sssseem. We will be happy to be your fffamilliarss England and Norway."
They were both happy to have gotten confirmation from the snakes so fast since snakes were often stubborn and obstinate but found it a little disconcerting that they already figured out who they were. They walked upstairs after taking the snakes out of their tanks and allowed them to rest on their necks, they met up with Ivan and Natalya who had chosen a massive light grey Siberian cat that could have passed for a small lynx and hunted around for Vlad and Gilbert. They had found an almost pitch-black owl with red eyes that looked demonic but was rather happy with them and was currently perched on Vlad's head when Ivan saw them and hurried over to them.
"What pets did you get Arthur, Lukas?" Said Vlad excitedly
"Yea, what did you get, I can't see it!" asked Gilbert, clearly hyper.
When they produced the snakes both red-eyed children seemed rather underwhelmed, and Gilbert asked:
"Why did you get snakes, they are so boring and useless." He complained, immediately after, Vlad smacked him.
"Owww, what was that for?!"
"Snakes take offence very easily; they will bite you if you bad mouth them."
"It's not like you can speak to them so how do you know?"
"Oh, I can, so can Arthur and Lukas."
Gilbert decided, rather wisely to shut up and they all went to the tills to pay, when the witch at the counter saw their wanted purchases, she almost fell off her chair.
"Are you sure you want those, the cat is massive and constantly grumpy, the owl, Lucifer, is possibly the worst tempered one I have ever seen in a while and those snakes are very skittish and picky? How haven't you died yet." She said incredulously
"We like them, and they like us, can't we take them?" Ivan asked
"You can just be careful with them, I will also warn you, Lucifer is very loud, and the cat is some part Kneazle, and the snakes aren't venomous, but their bites still hurt like hell, and they might be magical, but I don't really know." She then quietly muttered, "I don't get paid enough for this."
They paid for their purchases and left the shop with a large owl cage, a large cat on a leash and 2 snakes hidden in hoodies.
"Do we need to get anything else?" Arthur enquired, when everyone said no, they left the alley and headed for home.
One traumatizing and loud car ride later
"We're home guys," Arthur yelled to the traumatized nations in the car who got out and proceeded to vomit.
"HOW ZHE FICK DO JOU HAVE A DRIVING LICENCE IVAN!?"
"I haven't renewed it for almost 40 years, da," he said embarrassed.
They hauled out their purchases and put them in the house, they attempted to set down their pets but failed miserably other than Gilbert and Vlad since Lucifer was in a cage, the cat which they had named Zola after the Russian word for ash dug his claws deep into Natalya's dress and the snakes which they hadn't named yet squeezed so close to each other that they legitimately tangled up and had to be separated. Nataly then asked, "You said once we got home you would explain what the fuck is a 2P."
"You really don't give up don't you?" Norway said sounding bored as usual.
"Nyet, also, this is important."
"Fine, it is quite important. You two help me this is complicated."
Romania started with "You know how we were acting strange right, like our personalities had completely switched." to this the other three nodded vehemently, none of them ever wanting to see Norway and England giggling and Romania being cold and withdrawn. "We can do that on command, and that isn't even them in their entirety, and they wholly take over us every Halloween, eve-"
"ITS SAMHAIN" England and Norway yelled.
"SHUT, NO ONE EVEN KNOWS WHAT SAMHAIN IS ANYMORE!"
"Anyways, every nation has a 2P and they have a completely different personality and even looks which makes it easy to be in disguise." England then continues saying "Many of the 2Ps can be considered medically insane, our three possibly being some of the worst, after Italy of course, Luciano is scary."
Prussia asked, "Who is Luciano, and how the fick is Italy that scary?"
"Remember, the 2Ps are our opposites so many of the really harmless nations in this world are absolutely terrifying in the opposite and vice-versa, meaning Italy is absolutely terrifying and Belarus is adorable. Also, they have their own names so Luciano is Italy, mine is Oliver Norway's is Sigurd and Vlads is Marius."
Prussia got excited and asked, "What are mine and Wests like then?"
Vlad looked at him apologetically and said "Yours, is depressed, very, very depressed as is Spains and France" Prussia looked crestfallen but Vlad then said, "You would like Germanys though, he is messy, less uptight and quite a pervert, however, he doesn't lead the axis, Italy does that."
Russia then said, "What about mine, Ukraine's and Belarus then?"
Norway replied with "Yours is a sadistic, scary man who tries to inflict as much pain to his victims as possible, Ukraine is similar and she is probably one of the least motherly nations over there. Belarus is adorable, she is like Liechtenstein and there is really nothing else to be said here."
Belarus looked mildly pissed off at that description then she said "You said your 2ps were some of the most insane, so how are they in their full glory?"
They fidgeted and England said "Umm, all of them are cannibals along with the Italies. Mine, in all honesty, is a hyperactive cannibalistic poisonous cupcake. Norway's is less hyperactive but still very cannibalistic and poisonous but still laughs and smiles a lot, also he is a pyromaniac. Romania's is bloody terrifying he-"
"HEY?!" Romania yelled
"WHAT HE IS, OK, AND ITS A COMPLIMENT SO SHUT UP!"
"Anyways, he leads the 2p version of us and well, I don't think he has a soul, or at last he sold a large part of it to satan."
"Wait you can actually do that?" Prussia asked surprised
"Course you can, all myths have a basis in facts remember. Anyways, no more questions, you lot need to get back home."
"How vhill I explain his to vhest, and how vhill we get home?"
"Floo powder," Romania said from the fireplace, which was now roaring with.. green flames "Hop in, and say where you want to go."
"FICK NIEN, I AM NOT GOING INTO A FIREPLACE!"
"Would you like to demonstrate Romania?" England said Romania affirmed, steeped into the fireplace and yelled "GERMANYS HOUSE!" and he disappeared. A minute later they got a very confusing call from Germany asking why the hell there was a small version of Romania in his fireplace, to which England replied that he would have to see and pushed Prussia into the fireplace and yelled "GERMANYS HOUSE". A minute later they got another call from Germany, this time a more angry one "VHY IS BIG BRUDER SO...LITTLE"
"Kesesesese, zhis is awesome everything is so big. OH SCHEIßE, ASTER NO!" Germany audibly facepalmed and the others guessed that one of the dogs chased Prussia around. After a rather complicated explanation, Germany seemingly understood why Prussia was tiny and why he randomly stopped to talk to something on his head which was not Gilbird but he seemed extremely stunned, no-one could blame him though.
Next was Belarus who went through the floo system, she yelled "RUSSIA'S HOUSE!" and she disappeared in a plume of green flame. As was expected a minute later they got a distressed call from Ukraine (remember the beginning of the first book was set in September 1991, the USSR was still a thing)
"Norway, why is little sister so, well, little. She told me to call you." He could hear her about to start crying and tried to soothe her as well as he could, and in a quick lapse of judgement decided to send Russia there. Ukraine screamed as she saw the fireplace turn green and saw a child Russia hop out and hug her, she spluttered and said "W-Why are they 11 again? Tell me." her voice darkened and felt much more commanding. Romania quickly ran through what happened with occasional interruptions by her younger siblings. They had to affirm that they would stay safe, they honestly felt threatened by her. Norway remarked that she sounded like Finland sometimes, motherly and not very strong usually but when family comes into play they will murder you.
"This is going to be a long year isn't it," Romania said the others confirmed.
