Chapter 6
Human names BTW
Vladamir popescu- Romania
Ivan Bragsinsky -Russia
Arthur Kirkland- England
Lukas Bondevik- Norway
Natalya Arlovskaya- Belarus
Gilbert Belischmidt- Prussia
After a month of chaos for Ukraine and Germany's part, Gilbert was absolutely chaotic. More so than usual and he was much harder to catch like this, but he did have "quiet time" where Prussia, who still acted like his older brother (not like it made a difference) read him myths and Legends from the book he had taken from England. He had initially thought that the madness that England, Norway and Romania were infected with had spread to his brother but he had noticed strange things happening around his brother like things coming closer to him without him touching it. He slowly accepted the wild tale that Norway had told him as fact, and besides one day he saw a small flying lady on Gilbert's head, just for a second, he initially thought he really was going insane but dismissed it.
As for Ukraine, she was on overprotective mother mode, even though her siblings still had all their memories they acted like children and Ivan and Natalya was much more approachable in this form, however, yet both hated how they were treated as children. Also, they both spent a decent amount of time running away from Hungary who kept trying to dress them up in rather maid-like costumes, Hungary also had a rape face on. Which was absolutely terrifying. (imagine Russia being forced into what Italy was made to wear)
Finally, on the morning of the first of September Romania appeared through the fireplace of Germany's house, at that moment Germany happened to be cleaning the fireplace and he jumped back yelling.
"WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!"
"Englands place." Romania said, matter-of-factly "We need Gilbert"
"Right, for that school thing right?"
"BIG BRUDER WAKE UP!" he yelled, startling Romania but about 10 seconds later a fully clothed, and very hyper Prussia ran down the stairs.
"I've been awake for hours. COME ON VLAD HELP ME GET MY STUFF!"
Vlad rushed upstairs while Germany pitied England, Norway, Russia and Belarus who were meant to supervise those two and they rushed downstairs about a minute later with a trunk full of what he assumed to be stuff for school...and an owl. A scary-looking one to be that, it was black and had red eyes.
"Umm, vhen did you get that owl?"
"Oh, about a month ago, we named him Lucifer."
"It definitely suits him," Germany said, eyeing it suspiciously as the owl did the same.
"Little Bruder, I won't see you till December, so don't forget to write," he said as he hugged Germany, he softened a bit and allowed his big/little brother to hug him. Romania was in the background, internally squealing, he beckoned Prussia towards him as he entered the fireplace, it took a while but Prussia finally let go of Germany, but it took longer for Germany to let go. Once he finally did they got into the fireplace and yelled "ENGLAND'S HOUSE" they stumbled out of England's fireplace a moment later.
England appeared in front of the dizzy Prussian and said "We are going to get Russia and Belarus now, please don't do anything stupid."
"I won't," Romania said
"I will," Prussia said
"I know," Norway said as they left in a flurry of green flames
Ukraine was finishing eating her breakfast along with Russia and Belarus when the fireplace in the kitchen flared up green and Norway and England popped out.
"WHERE DID YOU COME FROM AND DON'T HURT MY FAMILY!" She yelled, wielding a frying pan much like Hungary but put it down once she saw the children. She instinctively knew that it was Norway and England but holy mother of god she found them adorable, so she squealed and hugged them tightly.
Both tried to escape but no one could ever escape the hug of a motherly Ukraine, England privately wondered if this was what it felt like when he hugged his former colonies when they were children. Russia and Belarus were silently laughing at the uncomfortable faces of the two nations when the Baltics walked in, saw a small England and Norway being hugged by Ukraine. Rubbed their eyes and walked out.
After Ukraine had let go of them they told Russia and Belarus to go get their stuff and as they did they explained what they were doing to Ukraine, she was very confused as was to be expected. But said that she was perfectly fine with it as long as they promised they would keep her siblings safe and that they would get along.
They both knew that the first half was incredibly unlikely but they had a feeling the second half would be easier to do since they had started to get along better since they were children. Ukraine noticed and loved it.
Meanwhile, Latvia had heard all of this and was reeling and secretly questioning his sanity, as was the custom if you ever hear a conversation like this.
Once they had come down Ukraine said a tearful goodbye and sent them on their way but still screamed as they disappeared into the fireplace which was burning bright green.
They stepped out of the fireplace into Englands house where it was about 8:30 am and Prussia was already there, yawning from lack of sleep the last night when England made them hurry into a fireplace again.
Belarus complained, "I don't like travelling in those they make me feel sick."
Russia nodded in agreement but England told them that it was either a two-hour drive with Russia at the wheel or this. Belarus then climbed into the fire and said, where do we go.
Russia was mildly insulted but listened nonetheless as England gave her a slip of paper and said she said "KINGS CROSS STATION, FLOO STAND" and she disappeared along with all her stuff. The others took the hint and did the same with Norway being the last to get there.
They loaded all of their stuff and followed England, well they were really following Romania who ran ahead, hyper. He was not even high on sugar.
They came to a....wall.
"Eyebrows, have jou really gone mad?"
Arthur grunted and said, "No, I haven't. Show them, Vlad."
Vlad looked around and when he saw that there were no people around he ran straight into the barrier between platforms 9 and 10 and instead of getting a concussion as he should have he disappeared through the wall. The non initiated nations ogled in surprise and were ushered into the wall.
Once they all were through they gawped at the magnificent red and gold steam engine, not because they missed them of course but because it brought so much nostalgia from the late 1800s, it was also extremely well painted and preserved.
"Why are they using a steam train?" Russia asked, it was a valid question since technology had long since advanced past this.
"We only have this because electrical devices go haywire in the presence of large amounts of magic so trains and the such wouldn't work well or at all."
They all boarded the train and all but Natalya asked to sit down in a mostly unused compartment that just contained a small black-haired boy and a redhead. Natalya had made an excuse of the compartment being too crowded for her and stalked off to, in their opinion, terrorise some innocent child.
Harry POV
5 people walked up to our compartment, they looked weird. Like really weird.
One had eyes as green if not greener than mine (How was that even possible?!) and thick eyebrows, like very thick eyebrows. One was much taller than all the rest but I think he was still a first-year since he looked just as confused as the rest. There was also this guy who looked like he had no soul and he had very, and I repeat very blue eyes that honestly scared me a little. Then there was an albino guy who looked high, or drunk (or both) and another red-eyed boy that looked like a demon but was snickering with the albino so he didn't think anything of it.
Sadly Ron did.
"Oi, are you a vampire?" he asked the red-eyed demon looking, child.
Happily the other didn't take offence and said "Nope!" and popped the p and sat down. The others followed along and sat down as well.
They introduced themselves and unsurprisingly most of them were foreign.
"Lukas Bondevik, from Norway."
"Ivan Braginsky, from Russia."
"Gilbert Belischmidt, from.....Germany?" He sounded unsure which was odd, how do you not know what country you came from?
"Vladamir Popescu, from romania. But just call me Vlad!"
"Arthur Kirkland, from here."
Then Gilbert said with mock sympathy "Arthur, I didn't know you were born in a train?"
Arthur then smacked him on the back of the head and said "Of course not you dolt, I mean I am from England."
The albino just cackled, and his laugh was weird "Kesesesese, of course not brows, I was just joking."
"I know that you Teutonic wanker how hush."
Ron looked thoughtful and then said
"Are you 2 brothers?"
Gilbert looked at him and said, "I, brothers with this stuck up idiot."
"I am not brothers with this crazy wanker!? Why would you even think that?"
"Well, you do look kind of similar and you seem to have known each other for years."
"Well that's because we have but we are not brothers, I have," he counted on his fingers "4 older brothers and 1 younger brother plus a boatload of cousins. That idiot is not one of them"
The conversation changed to be about families and I felt kind of left out, I don't have any brothers or sisters other than that blasted Dudley.
Ivan was talking about his two sisters and for some reason he seemed scared of one of them, "I have 2 sisters, one older and one younger, my big sestra doesn't have magic but my younger one does and she is somewhere else in the train. I do not know who she is scaring but I pray for them."
"Kesesesesese, I have a big brother. He is so boring it's stupid that we are even related! But I do admit he is an awesome little Bruder" Gilbert said. I deduced that he was pretty much always excited as was Vlad who started to talk next.
"I have a little brother, he is so adorable and I think he might have magic but alas I can't be sure."
Finally, Lukas began to speak, "I have a....big brother?" He didn't seem one who liked to talk and buried himself into a book but he sounded unsure about his brother. Maybe they were twins if they didn't know who was older. It was the only thing that made sense after all.
Just then there was a sharp rap on the compartment door and when Gilbert opened the door a sweet old lady asked "Anything from the trolley dears?"
The trolley was absolutely packed with sweets, like packed and I never got to eat sweets with the Dursleys but even then I didn't recognize anything on the trolley, some. Being the smart child that I am decided to buy everything.
Vlad and Gilbert apparently didn't hear me buying the sweets since they were both drooling over the sweets with eyes full of longing.
Lukas smacked them.
"Owwww, what was that for?" Vlad whined.
"Pay attention for once Vlad, the sweets are on the table," Arthur said
Both of their eyes lit up and were about to dig in when they remembered manners existed and asked.
"Can we have some?"
I grinned and let them eat, the first thing that he did was take a silvery packet that was squirming, he opened it and a brown frog leapt out, he caught it and but off its head.
Me, Gilbert and Ivan were all horrified before Vlad smiled toothily and said, "Chocolate frogs, don't worry they are not actually alive, but they are delicious and they have collectors cards!"
"Wait really!?" I said and opened a packet but the frog leapt out of the window, but I still had the card!
I read it and it said:
Albus Dumbledore
Currently headmaster of Hogwarts. Considered by many to be the greatest wizard of modern times Professor Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the 12 uses of dragons blood and his work on alchemy with his partner Nicholas Flamel. Professor Dumbledore enjoys chamber music and ten pin bowling.
Gilbert opened one as well and audibly yelled when he turned it around, I did the same and saw a moving picture of Albus Dumbledore. I...shrieked.
After a quick explanation by Ron and Lukas, the rest were too busy dying of laughter at our reactions. Also, Ron kept trying to steal Gilbert's card since he got Ptolemy.
To Hermione and Natalya
"Can I sit here?" Belarus asked for the fifth time that day, she was contemplating going back to the others when the lone girl inside let her in.
She was studying, at least she thought the other was, so she decided not to disturb her and took out her own book and started to read it. The compartment remained in silence until Zola decided to wake up and sit all over her book not allowing her to read.
"Bad Zola, get off my book, I want to read."
The cat just meowed insolently and sauntered off, sitting on Hermione's book.
"Zola. NO. Let the nice girl read."
Instead of getting annoyed like Natalya assumed she would, she scratched Zola behind the ears and listened as the cat started to purr.
"How did you get her to do that?" Natalya asked dumbfounded. Zola was always too hyper and kind of annoying but she never got her to purr.
"Cats like being scratched behind the ear, I love them too much so that's why I know." The bushy-haired girl said while snuggling Zola, who was just basking in the attention. "By the way, my name's Hermione, Hermionie Granger. What's yours?"
"My name is Natalya Arlovskaya, nice to meet you, Hermione, I can call you that right?"
"Sure, if I can call you Natalya...and touch your cat."
Belarus laughed a bit and said, "Sure, she is all yours."
"What's her name again?"
"Zola, it's the Russian word for ash, because you know. She is ash-coloured."
"I knew you weren't from here, so you are from the USSR if I'm correct."
"Yes, Belarus specifically."
"I know this is a little early to ask but once we get to school could you maybe teach me Belarussian?"
"Sure, no one has ever asked me to do that before!" Natalya said, happy
They returned to their books but this time the silence was more comfortable when Natalya asked "What are you reading?"
"Oh, nothing special, just an astronomy book for school."
"Ooh, could I see?"
"Sure, this chapter is about constellations and the myths surrounding them."
Natalya speed-read the page at a pace which Hermionie was jealous of and bluntly said, "They missed a myth."
"Really, which one?" Hermionie said, her thirst for knowledge showing rather clearly.
"There is a lesser-known myth in Greek mythology that some constellations are members of The Hunters of Artemis that have died in battle valiantly and Artemis decided they were worthy enough to be immortalised in the stars." (Yes I made a PJO reference, no I am not sorry.)
"I...have never heard of that myth before, But I love it. Myths are really fascinating, they give us an insight into what people thought all the centuries and millenia ago."
"I agree with you, and now seeing that magic exists, who knows if they exist as well."
While they were talking. Neville passed by looking for his toad but didn't interrupt the girls because he had a bad feeling that if he did he would be in major trouble so he hurried past without a peep.
The room once again lapsed into a comfortable silence until 3 boys rudely decided to come crashing in.
Natalya's voice took on a cold edge and she asked "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
The pale pointy faced boy scowled and said "Don't you know who my father is. I'm not just 'That guy you know."
"No, I do not know about your father and neither do I care, so please get lost"
The boy sneered and said, "Mudbloods huh, and you think you can stand up to me."
"I do not know what that word means but I assume it is an insult. And yes, I do think I can stand up to you." She glared him right in the eye and he surprisingly backed off, but that also could have been because she had her wand in her hand and looked like she would stab him with it without hesitation.
The boys left the compartment and Natalya apologised to Hermionie who looked mildly terrified. Natalya was scared that she would be ousted from the compartment but instead, she got the opposite reaction.
"Could you teach me to do that?"
"Do what?" Natalya asked confused
"You know, scare people. People pick on me a lot because they think I am an easy target because I read and study a lot. I DON'T WANT TO BE AN EASY TARGET FOR GOD'S SAKE!" she raged while Natalya noted that she had plenty of potential to be scary, just she didn't use it.
"I will protect and teach you child," Natalya said in a deep voice
Hermione snorted "Stop Natalya you sound like someone from the lord of the rings."
"
What's that?" Natalya asked blankly
"YOU HEATHEN, HOW DO YOU NOT KNoW WHAT LORD OF THE RINGS IS!"
"I'm from Belarus remember."
"Oh, right. Sorry Natalya"
"What is it anyway, I've seen Arthur and Lukas read that book and aggressively discuss the possibility of hobbits existing but other than that I do not know."
Hermione snorted and looked out the window, she saw the giant medieval structure and took in a sharp intake of breath, Natalya looked at her strangely but when she saw the castle she understood. It was beautifully preserved and she could feel a sort of warmth radiating from it.
Hermionie said "I think it would be a good time to wear our robes, we seem almost there."
Once they wore their robes they both decided to walk the corridors of the train, to see if they could find the others, as they did they saw...no felt the castle come nearer. After about 5 minutes of looking they found the packed compartment, Lukas looked bored, Arthur looked annoyed as did Ivan while some random redhead, some random black haired guy, Vlad and Gilbert looked hyped.
Natalya slid the compartment door open and said "We are getting near to school, I think you guys should wear your robes."
They all abruptly looked up to see Natalya and some bushy-haired girl standing in the doorway to the compartment, Ivan gave a sort of scared smile and said "This is my leetle sister Natalya, and I think she made a friend?"
Natalya looked annoyed at Ivans tone of voice when she was talking about her making a friend and smacked him.
"Natalyaaa, what was that for?"
"I can make friends, I'm not that scary. And you are not one to talk Ivan, no one has ever tried to befriend you other than maybe Arthur, Kiku and Lukas."
Ivan harrumphed and said "Well, only Elizaveta and Lili ever tried befriending you."
Gilbert looked absolutely terrified like PTSD level terrified and stood between them and said "Stop. Do not fight and do not hurt me either!" the end part was whimpered quietly. Neither Ron, Harry or Hermionie knew what was going on but they assumed it was bad, really bad considering Gilbert's reaction.
Hermionie (In a burst of confidence) dragged Natalya out of the compartment and said, with restrained fury, "What was that all about?"
"My relationship with my older brother is....interesting. I would like you not to interfere in it."
Hermionie soundly decided to stay out of it but was slightly disheartened by her new, dare she say, friend. Sudden and violent change in mood.
Over with the others
Ivan sulked in his school robes and pretty much everyone kept as much distance away from him as possible, mostly due to the purple aura surrounding him which only the nations could see but the others could feel it. Gilbert seemed the most terrified, he sat as far away from Ivan as possible and was still shaking slightly, an absolute 180 from how he seemed before. Both Ron and Harry were immensely confused but had no time to think about it since the train screeched to a halt.
