Meeting a blonde boy...again

I'm getting ready to go to Helga, after my lessons I always hang out with her. She is my best friend.

She is already sitting in the field with a beautiful yellow dress that flatters around her.

She has a big smile on her face, Helga is almost always happy. She is overly optimistic, it's ridiculous sometimes. Her long brown hair looks like it's just brushed. She stands up when she sees me.

She pulls me into a hug when I see her. I have just seen her yesterday, but Helga loves hugs. I don't like physical contact, but Helga gives the best hugs and I feel safe with her. You can be yourself with her, she won't judge you.

While she is hugging me, a floral scent enters my nostrils. Helga always smells like flowers. Her big country house is surrounded by flower fields. Her mother loves going outside and pick them. There are vases throughout the whole house, and it always smells like flowers. I love it. It's familiar. It's safe. It's Helga.

We're walking through the fields and talking.

"My aunt came over today, and it was great. She has brought some new flowers and mum wants to plant them in the fields. The smell delicious." She smiles.

"What do they look like."

"Well, we haven't seen them, only smelled them, but aunt Maggie said that they are a sort of blue-ish and mid-size. So not big flowers, but also not tiny ones."

I smile, "What did they smell like?" I ask.

"It's hard to describe but really fresh, and I got excited after smelling them. Dad wants to study them when they grow. He thinks he will find a new potion receipt next week."

Helga's dad is a potioneer. It's a job that arose around five years ago, but there is made a lot of progress already. Helga's dad is sure there will be a future for it. Helga is not so good with hand magic or wand magic like me but she is an excellent potioneer.

"That's great, he has been working on this healing potion for months."

"Mum will be happy when he is done too, she hopes he will be home more often then but I doubt it. He will find something new to work on. It's his passion, you should see him when he was talking about it yesterday. He talked the whole evening, but mum didn't have the heart to interrupt him, he was so happy."

I nod. "I can imagine someth-aahh"

But I don't get to finish my sentence. Because before I know it. I'm falling in a pit. My magic saves me, when I reach the bottom of the pit it's really soft. When I stand up, Helga is already looking at me from two meters above me.

"Did you hurt yourself?" She asks with a worried expression on her face. I shake my head. She breaks out in a smile. "Good, because that was funny as hell." She starts laughing, and I know I will be the topic of all her jokes the next three days.

Suddenly I hear a sound beside me. It sounds like a hiss.

When I turn my head, I am met with about thirty snakes.

"You should've seen your face, it was-"

"Helga! There are snakes here!" I shout.

Now she looks worried again.

"Do you know some kind of levitating spell." I try to think of something but I can't remember learning anything like that. I hear a hiss on my other side too.

I turn my head again and this time I am eye to eye with a snake.

If you later ask me, I would not be able to tell you why I did what I did. I wasn't even conscious of what I was doing. I didn't even know I had taken a decision.

The only thing I know is that my legs carry me closer to the snake. I hear Helga screaming but it sounds like she is really far away.  "Leave me alone." I say to the snake. And like a wonder, the snake nodded and went backwards.

I turned around and told all the snakes, "Leave me alone."

And they all started going backwards.

They left me alone.

When they are finally gone,I come back to my senses and look at Helga.

"What? Just? Happened?" She says.

"I'm just as surprised as you are." I tell her.

"I didn't know you could speak parseltongue." She says.

"What?" I say. "I have no idea what parseltongue is."

"It's the language of the snakes. There are very few people that can speak it."

"What? I can't speak parseltongue, I have never even heard of it, let alone speak it."

She shakes her head.

"It's not something you learn, it's something you know." I have a thousand question but before I can ask one she says.

"We need to get you out of there, then we'll talk." She says.

I nod. That's the most logical.

We try a bunch of stuff but eventually we get me out of the pit.

After Helga has told me what parseltongue is, I am stunned.

"So I spoke an enterally other language without knowing it?"

"Yes."

"Cool." I say. My father is going to be so proud, there are almost no people who can speak it.

As if Helga knows what I'm thinking, she says.

"I don't want to ruin it, but it's associated with the dark arts. It's best if you don't tell a lot of people."

"So I have this cool thing I can do, and it has to be kept a secret?"

She looks sad. I can't work my anger and disappointment out on her. She can't help it. I know that if she could do anything, she would. She knows I'm not interested in the Dark Arts. She gives me a hug. We sit for a while. Hugging, talking, joking.

By the time I go home, I feel a lot better. It's like our secret, it's something I and Helga have for ourselves. And Helga has joked a lot about it, I have even got a nickname, lepi.
