Saturday, April 16

“Moony!” Sirius bounded into Remus’s dorm, yanking the sheets off his bed.

“Whatt.” He replied sleepily, fumbling around for his auxiliary blanket.

“We have a football game today!” Sirius said, bouncing around him and stealing the auxiliary blanket.

“I’m aware. Let me sleep.” Remus reached over the other side of the bed for his auxiliary auxiliary blanket.

“No! You’re going to be my cheerleader!”

“I can be your cheerleader when the game starts at like one. Let me rest until then.”

“No. If I have to get up early to train, so do you. A cheerleader leads a difficult life.”

Remus managed to roll his eyes without opening them. “Who says you have to get up early?”

    “James.”

    “Well, fuck James.”

“Don’t you dare Moony, you’re my boyfriend, not his.”

“Ugh, you know what I mean. Come nap with me. I’ll get up if James barges in here and makes us.”

“You’re saying he has more power than I do?”

“No. Just he has power over you and when you get up, as your team captain and…” He yawned again. “Forget it. You can snooze with me or train without me. Your choice.”

Sirius instantly climbed into bed with Remus, despite being fully dressed and having just done his hair. He wrapped his arms around Remus’s waist and buried his head into his boyfriend’s warm back. Remus didn’t turn around, but his legs tangled with Sirius’s until they both dozed off approximately sixty seconds later.

James came in ten minutes later, banging on the door. Screw Jacob Finnegan and sleep, there was a football game, and his best friend was snoozing with his boyfriend instead of preparing himself!

    “Wake up, lovebirds!”

“No,” they both mumbled sleepily.

He threw the last blanket off Remus’s bed and yanked Sirius out.

“I hate you both.” Remus declared, standing up resentfully and stretching.

Sirius’s gaze caught on the strip of exposed skin where his nightshirt lifted. Remus caught him, smirking, and he looked away sheepishly.

“C’mon, loverboy,” James grinned, dragging him out. “We’ve got a game to win.”

The game was not going great, as far as Remus could tell. Gryffindor’s team was mostly on the defensive, and Ravenclaw were two goals ahead.

He glanced up and down the field, his eyes latching onto a certain Gryffindor with ebony hair in a messy bun and tanned arms and muscled legs- nope he wasn’t going down that path. His boyfriend was extremely hot, but he wasn’t actually the main purpose of the game and he was going to miss something important if he kept daydreaming about Sirius’s arms.

Most of Gryffindor’s team was frowning at this point, so Remus decided to bring out his surprise.

Lily helped him pull the banner from his bag and unfold it, revealing several feet of red-and-gold glittering glory. Go Lions! Was written on it in enormous letters that should be legible from anywhere in the field.

He hid his face behind the sign, embarrassed despite everything. He had already asked Lily to do the yelling, anyway. Which she did, a bit too enthusiastically, in his opinion, screaming, “Go Lions! Gryffindor team!” And once, to his horror, “Sirius, your boyfriend loves you!”

Remus whacked Lily with the banner, but she still looked entirely not remorseful enough. He peeked onto the field to see Sirius looking directly at him, and he felt his cheeks burn. He lifted an arm in a half-wave and Sirius smiled fondly back.

The next part of the game went by swiftly. The team somehow seemed newly energized; Sirius did, anyway. He seemed to move like he was in his own game, like there was nobody to challenge him but the wind.

The other team didn’t stand a chance.

With two minutes left, the teams were tied. Lily began screaming again, and Remus, determination getting the better of him, joined in. Ravenclaw’s supporters tried to match them, but it didn’t work. Every voice seemed to be cheering Gryffindor on.

Sirius’s footsteps thudded fiercely down the field, seeming like they were in time with Remus’s heartbeat. Ten seconds left.

He paused in front of Ravenclaw’s goal. Five seconds.

He lifted his leg, and shot the ball clean past the goalkeeper, a clean score. Two beats later, the timer went up.

Gryffindor’s stands erupted in cheers. James ran to his teammate, clapping him on the back. Students began pouring onto the field as the Gryffindor players screamed in victory and the Ravenclaws pretended to be good sports about it.

Remus stayed in place, feeling like a stone in a stream. He should move forward, he knew he should. Why wasn’t he?

He suddenly felt a prickle on his neck, and turned slowly, feeling like he was in some sort of movie. Everyone around him was cheering, loud and full of movement, but he was neither.

Neither was Sirius, apparently, as that was who had been watching him. Their gazes met, and they both hesitated for a moment before surging forward at the same time. Sirius was grinning in victory, and he probably was too.

They met at the bottom of the steps. Remus threw his arms around Sirius, his heart thudding as loud as the crowds enveloping them.

“You were amazing,” he whispered into Sirius’s ear, and his boyfriend looked up to meet his eyes. Sirius’s grey eyes were shining.

For a moment, everything seemed to stop, even them. Remus realized what he wanted to do, and was terrified, somehow. His heart pounded; Sirius could probably hear it.

“Can I-” He began, hesitantly, “Can I…”

“Kiss?” Sirius finished, just as hesitantly. “Yes, please.”

    That was all it took.

Without a second thought, Remus closed the gap between their lips. He tasted like salt.

Sirius was an amazing kisser. It was perfect, everything he could have wanted. Sirius’s lips pushed over his, moving together. Their noses bumped, and they nearly parted. Remus couldn’t have that; it would be a tragedy to ever stop kissing Sirius Black.

“Sorry,” he murmured into his boyfriend’s mouth. Sirius responded by returning the kiss, more fiercely. He pulled Remus closer by the small of his back, which was extremely hot. Remus’s hands found their way into Sirius’s hair, and he pulled the locks out of the ponytail they’d been in during the game, running his hands through them in a way he’d always wanted to do. He wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s neck, pressing closer until they were nearly one. He felt tingles everywhere Sirius touched him.

Remus could have kept kissing him for eternity. Air was overrated anyway, truly.

It was only until he realized that he was getting faint, did he pull away, very reluctantly. People really should hurry up and find a way to live without oxygen, it was extremely tiresome.

Sirius was pretty sweaty right now, he realized, which any normal person probably would have noticed before snogging him, but honestly, he couldn’t care less.

Remus tilted his head, kissing him again, gently and perfectly, and a lot quicker than the previous one, unfortunately. They were interrupted this time, though, by a voice that belonged to Lily Evans, saying, “Glad for you two, but get a room, Merlin’s sake!”

Sirius smiled, not looking even the slightest bit sorry, before pulling Remus in again.

The rest of the world didn’t matter at this point; they were in a bubble of serenity. They probably stayed outside a long time after everybody else, kissing and smiling into each other’s mouths; two boys in love.
