Epilogue- Later That Night
Epilogue
Sirius and Remus were sitting on the astronomy tower roof after the game. Gryffindor was celebrating in their courtyard, accompanied by loud music, disco lights, and likely spiked punch. James was failing to flirt with Lily, who was blatantly ignoring him. Dorcas was womanning the music, but getting distracted an awful lot by her girlfriend.
“So.” Sirius nudged his shoulder.
“So?” Remus asked, smiling.
“We won!” Sirius exclaimed.
“Yep, you did,” Remus laughed, kissing his cheek.
“Remus,” Sirius asked, “I was talking to Lily the other day, and…”
“And?” Remus asked apprehensively.
“She said you’d had a crush on me for a few months before we started talking. Did you?” He leaned forward, his eyes dancing.
Remus buried his head in his knees. “I hate you.”
“No, you don’t,” Sirius contradicted, nuzzling his boyfriend’s neck.
Remus sat up again. “Fine, I did. It’s not my fault you’re hot!”
“You admit it!” Sirius declared triumphantly. “My mission is complete!”
“Ugh. You’re really fucking hot, Sirius Black. And it’s extremely annoying, and I will hold it against you forever.” Remus groaned in defeat.
“Well, you’re also extremely attractive, darling boyfriend.” Sirius said, grinning. “And I suppose you can punish me with a few more kisses.”
Remus’s lips were already on his. “I suppose it’s only fair,” he replied, practically murmuring the words into Sirius’s mouth.
They cuddled for a while, sitting precariously on the flat shingles of the roof. Everything was that dark blue color of shadow, except for Remus’s beautiful eyes. The night air was cold, so both were reluctant to let go of each other’s warmth, watching the party below and the stars above.
“Sirius?” Remus asked after a while. “How did you end up texting me with the wrong number? Didn’t you and James already know each other and hadn’t you already set up an account?”
“I got a new phone when I moved out, so I could start fresh and leave my parent’s contacts and stuff behind; I also had a suspicion they were using it to trace me. I meant to add Prongs’s stuff sooner, but it’s not really necessary when we live in the same school and are together practically every second of the day, so I hadn’t gotten around to it,” Sirius explained.
“Oh,” was all Remus said, nodding. “That makes sense.”
“Also, your number is stupidly similar to James’s.”
“I’m glad of that.”
“Me too.” Sirius agreed. He continued talking quietly, almost embarrassedly. “I think meeting you was the best mistake I’ve made.”
Remus turned to face him, flushed. “You’re one of the best things to happen to me, too,” he decided, smiling.
Sirius held his hand, and they gripped each other, tightly but perfectly.
Below, Marlene and Dorcas were twirling like little kids, belting out the words to girl in red. We fell in love in October, and that’s why I love fall.
My girl, my girl, my girl. You will be my girl, my girl, my girl, my girl. They grinned at each other, never looking away.
“Sirius,” Remus began again, causing his boyfriend’s focus to return to him. “I- well, sorry if this is forward- but-” He paused, looking nervous. “I think I love you.”
Sirius jolted, as though shocked, and then smiled shyly. “I think I love you, too, Moony.”
“Oh, thank goodness!” Remus blurted out.
As they started laughing, the sky opened up and rain began falling in fat drops, plinking and plopping on the rooftop.
Both boys ran for cover, as well as they could without falling off the roof and breaking their necks, and staying holding hands. Still laughing, still staring stupidly into each other’s eyes, looking like exactly what they were: two boys in love.
