Chapter 7
The first thing he noticed was he wasn’t on the Hogwarts Express anymore. The second was that he felt a little cold. He could hear whispering around him, one voice was his mum’s, the other one he couldn’t place.
“I just can’t believe he’s kept this all a secret. Who am I kidding, he’s always been so private,” his mum said.
“Teenagers are confusing, I’ve always said,” the voice he couldn’t place said.
“He just had to make life so much more difficult for himself. He’s always wanted to work in the Ministry. There is no way he can finish Hogwarts with a baby.”
“Don’t say that. There are ways. You need to wait until he wakes, then you can ask him his plans.”
“Andromeda, I just don’t know what to do.”
That’s who it was, Andromeda Tonks. He hadn’t known his mum was friends with her until the second wizarding war. There was a tapping on the door, and he heard someone open it. He decided to pretend he was asleep until he knew more. His mum talked about the baby, so he assumed she was alright.
“Oh, Arthur, I’m so glad you’re here,” his mum said.
“I’m going to leave you to it,” Andromeda said before he heard her leave.
“Has he woken yet?” his father asked. He could hear the disappointment in his father’s voice. It ached his soul to hear it.
“Not yet. I don’t blame him. He gave birth on a train with only the help of another teenager. Oh, Arthur, what are we going to do?”
“I don’t know, Mollywobbles, I just don’t know. We haven’t had this before and truthfully when it came to teenage pregnancy, I thought we’d have trouble with the twins. They are popular with the girls already.”
“I thought it would be Bill, but never Percy. He was always so quiet around anyone not family unless he was telling them off. I didn’t even think he knew about sex, not really. Not enough to go through a pregnancy alone.”
“Well, the baby is here now so we we’ll have to deal with it.”
He knew they would be disappointed in him when they found out, but he didn’t think he would be so upset about it. It wasn’t something he could explain, they would either think he was mad, or it could ruin his plans. Of course, that led to a new problem, if he couldn’t go back to Hogwarts, he would never get his wand rights, which would mean it would be harder to fix what had gone wrong. Overall, Harry had saved them but so many more could be saved. If his brother could be saved, he would do anything to do it.
He heard the door open again and heavier footsteps.
“They’ve checked her over, they said she’s healthy,” Charlie said. He must have been with the baby getting her looked after. “Terrence Higgs’ parents forced a paternity strand spell. He’s not the other father, but I saw him when they took him, he already knew. It seemed to me he was trying to stop them from having it done.”
Percy started to breathe heavily; he hadn’t thought they would do a paternity strand test on her. It didn’t just show who wasn’t the father, it also showed who was. Did they know yet?
“Who is the other father? Oliver Wood? It would make sense to be him, he’s Percy’s only real friend, right?” his mother asked.
“They wouldn’t tell me, they said they would be in with you soon. Something is up because they said they would have to contact the aurors.”
Not being able to take it anymore, Percy sat up, startling his family.
“We have to leave,” he said, pushing the blanket off.
“Oh, luv, what’s going on?” his mum asked.
“Nothing, we just need to leave.” He looked around for his clothes but didn’t see them. “Where are my things?”
“Your father brought your trunk; you can change into clean clothes later. But we have to talk to the healers. We need to know if you’re alright to go home.”
“I’m fine, I know my body. We have to leave now.” He found where his dad put his trunk and pulled out some on his casual wear. He didn’t want wear anything too tight.
Just after he got dressed the door opened again and in walked two aurors he didn’t know.
“Mr. Weasley, we need to speak to you,” the blonde, female auror said, she was using a very gentle voice. This was just what he was hoping to avoid. They thought he was the victim of an adult wizard. “I’m Auror Herzog and this is Auror Fantick,” she said, pointing to the male auror.
“I don’t think so. I’m just leaving.” If he ignored them, they would go away. He knew he was thinking crazy but that couldn’t be helped.
“Percy, maybe you should speak with them. If you want to be more private, we can wait outside,” his father said. That was Arthur Weasley, always trying to be gentle. The only time he ever saw his dad angry was during the fight that cut him off from his family, but that wasn’t on his dad.
“I don’t want to talk in private, there is nothing to talk about.”
“Who is the other father of your baby, Percy?” Herzog asked.
“I’m her only father.”
“You didn’t make her on your own, Percy. We don’t blame you. Did he hurt you? Force himself on you?”
“No. You don’t understand.”
The door opened again, and his breath caught. It was surprising to see him again after all this time. He almost didn’t remember him ever looking so young. Grey eyes took everything in before landing on him. He could see the confusion mixed with the man’s natural arrogance.
“What are you doing here Malfoy?” his father asked.
“When my family tree tapestry magically added Baby Girl Weasley as my child, I thought it was dark magic. When the aurors came to question me about impregnating a Hogwarts student, I was livid. But this is now just absurd. I have never even seen this boy, there is no way I can be his baby’s father. I don’t know what magic this is, but I demand it to be stopped.”
“Are you saying Lucius Malfoy got my underage son pregnant?” his mother said, her voice raising with each word.
“I can assure you; I wouldn’t taint myself with blood traitors,” Lucius sneered.
Percy was under no illusions about how Lucius used to be, but it still hurt. They still had their barneys about things like pure blood. But he saw the Lucius no one else saw, not even Narcissa. Lucius treated Percy like he had never been treated before. He was given things that his family had never been able to afford. Lucius had lost most of his wealth in the downfall of Voldemort, but the man was able to regain it because of his friends and his skills. It wasn’t the things that Lucius could give him; it was the way he looked at him. He would look at him like he was the only person in the world and being the invisible Weasley, it meant the world to him.
“I demand to be given Veritaserum to clear my good name,” Lucius said, seemingly shocking everyone but Percy. He knew what the wizard’s name meant to him.
“I just happen to have some here, if you are willing to bypass the court, we can give it to you now,” Fantick said.
“Fine, give it to me. I’ll prove I’ve done nothing wrong.”
Percy watched in horror as they gave Lucius the serum. He knew that Lucius would clear his name but then how would he explain how Lucius is his daughter’s other father.
“Have you ever met Percy Weasley?” Herzog asked.
“No.”
“Have you ever had sex with Percy Weasley?”
“No.”
“Have you ever had sex with any underage person?”
“No, but that wasn’t the rules. It was all supposed to be about him.”
“Are you the father of Baby Girl Weasley?”
“Yes,” Lucius said but his eyes were wide. “Yes.” Percy knew he was trying to say no but the magic knew he was the father and wouldn’t allow him to say no. “I swear I am NOT not her father.”
“How can he be the father if they were never together? If he hadn’t even met Percy?” Charlie asked.
“Have you ever seen Percy Weasley before today?” Herzog asked.
“No.”
“I’ve never heard of something like this,” Herzog said.
Knowing he was close to being questioned himself with Veritaserum he had to think of something fast. He couldn’t let them know the real reason why Lucius could be his daughter’s father and not know him.
“I stole his sperm,” Percy snapped.
His parents and his brother’s jaws dropped; he didn’t blame them it was an odd thing to say.
“How?” Herzog asked.
He had to think back to a plausible excuse. Then he remembered something Lucius had confessed to him.
“I saw him go into the White Wyvern over summer holiday. I followed him upstairs to their rooms. I watched him go in and waited outside. Once he and the person he was inside left, I went in an collected his sperm. He used a muggle contraption called a condom.”
“Who was he with?” Herzog asked.
“It was another adult, because of that I will not say anything. This is on me.”
“Why would you do such a thing?” his mother asked.
“I wanted a baby,” he lied.
“Did you have to go through all that?” Charlie asked, disgust on his face.
“Look at me? Who would have me?”
“You’re so young. Why would you want to ruin your life with a baby?” his mother asked.
“I didn’t ruin my life. I love her,” he said, looking over at his daughter still in Charlie’s arms.
“I want my daughter,” Lucius said.
Percy gasped. “What?”
“I didn’t consent to having another child but seeing as she’s mine and you can’t possibly take care of her, I will be taking custody of her. I will not have a child of mine raised as a pauper.”
“NO!”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Weasley. Given what you said, according to wizarding law, Mr. Malfoy has a right to take his daughter home,” Fantick said.
“No, please, she’s mine.”
“It’s for the best, luv,” his mum said, taking the baby from Charlie’s arms.
“Don’t do it,” he said, tears threatening to spill.
“He can take care of her,” his mum said.
“Dad don’t let them take her. You know he won’t be nice to her. You know what he thinks of blood traitors.”
His father looked torn but stood straighter. “You should have thought of that before you did what you did.”
“Don’t worry, Weasley, my child will never be a blood traitor.”
Percy watched as Lucius took his daughter from his mother and walked out of the room with her.
“WAIT!!! Let me hold her, please, just one more time.” He hadn’t gotten to hold her since he woke up.
Lucius didn’t break stride and was gone soon enough. His world had just ended. If it weren’t for Fred’s life, he would have said the whole truth right then, but he couldn’t. Merlin forgive him because he never would for letting his daughter be carried out of his life.
“It’s for the best, this way you can go back to Hogwarts in September,” his mum said.
“You are no mother of mine,” he told her before running out of the room. He knew he would have to go back to the Burrow at some point, but he couldn’t face his family who just gave his daughter away to someone they suspected was a Dark Wizard unlike Percy, who knew he was.
