Chapter 8
Percy didn’t know where to go after leaving St. Mungo’s. There wasn’t a lot of options, but he refused to go back home. He understood they were disappointed, but this was unforgivable. Because of that, he went to the only place that he knew was sanctuary. Grimmald Place. Because Dumbledore had yet to become the secret keeper, he couldn’t see it. So, he just stood out front hoping soon they would see him. It only took an hour for Remus to step outside.
“Percy? What’s going on?”
“I’m going to end this before it starts. If I make sure Voldemort never comes back to the land of the living, then everything will be alright. I need to check something. I need to see the Black library, I’m sure what I need is there.”
“Sure, anything you need.”
“I also need a place to stay until I go back to Hogwarts.” If he had to go back there. He hoped to be finished before the end of the summer.
“Why?”
“Personal reasons. So?”
“Of course, you’re the reason we have Harry out of that horrible place.”
He was shown a piece of paper with the address and then led in by Remus. As soon as he was in, he heard laughing, better than the shrieking from Sirius’s mother. He looked at her portrait and saw she had some sort of silencing charm on her. Her horrible mouth was open in a scream that no one could hear.
“That’s better,” he said.
“Hmm?” Remus said.
“She’s better than last time.”
“Oh, I forgot that you had been here before. Can we not talk about that in front of Sirius? While I respect your decision and reasoning not to tell me what happens in the future, Sirius won’t be so accommodating.”
“Alright, I don’t feel like getting into it anyway.”
“What is your plan? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Stop Voldemort from returning to power, kill him, grab my kid and Higgs, sneak into the Department of Mysteries and go back to my time.”
“Are you sure that’s wise?”
“What do you mean?”
“Going back after changing everything, it won’t be the same place.”
“I don’t care, I can’t be this age anymore and I must make my own decisions. I don’t think I would have stood for it when I really was fourteen but definitely not at almost thirty. They gave my daughter away to Malfoy.”
“What? Why would they do that?”
“Because he’s her other father. But not this Malfoy, this one hasn’t had his life ruined, and son almost killed by the Dark Arts, this one still worships that creature they call the Dark Lord.”
“I don’t understand. Why would your parents give your child to him?”
“Because they’re scared, while I was waiting for you out here, I put it together. They are as prejudice as most Gryffindors. They think because he’s a Slytherin and him being a Death Eater during the first wizarding war. They think she’ll be dark; they may even suspect it of me.”
“I’m sure that’s not it.”
Percy shook his head. “I know my parents all too well. They are good people, but they are Gryffindors. Too much heart and not enough brains.” Remus looked a little shocked at Percy’s words, but he was speaking the truth. “They are scared of her. Which is why I need your help.”
“Doing what?”
“How are you with memory charms?”
“I’m pretty good, why?”
“Because tonight we are taking my daughter back and making everyone forget about her.”
Remus laughed awkwardly but when Percy didn’t join him, he stopped. “You’re serious?”
“Deadly. I’m not a stupid child no matter what anyone thinks. Even if I was fourteen, they had no right to take my child and give her to Lucius.”
“LUCIUS MALFOY?”
They both turned and saw Sirius Black standing there, his eyes were wild. Percy was shocked how well he looked already. It was probably because when he escaped, he couldn’t see healers or use his money. Here he could get all the help he needed, and he was a wealthy man being the only living Black.
“Yes, Lucius Malfoy. He’s my daughter’s other father and my parents just handed her over to him.”
“But you’re just a child yourself. That bastard, he should get a one-way ticket to Azkaban,” Sirius said, working himself up into a right state.
Percy looked at Remus, this was going to be tricky. If they couldn’t tell Sirius that he was from the future it would make everything more difficult, he had hoped that he would have both Sirius and Remus to help him. Remus being smart and cautious was good, but he needed Sirius who on his best day was mad as a hatter, and sometimes that’s what you need.
“Calm down, Siri, you’ll scare Harry,” Remus said, patting Sirius’s arm.
“Harry is here?” Percy asked.
“Yes, he’s having a snack,” Remus said. “I guess we should tell him, he will never shut up if we don’t.”
That was actually what Percy wanted so, he was fine with it. He had been proven right not to tell his parents about the real him. They would have had him locked up for being mad.
“I’m from fifteen years in the future. I somehow found myself back in time. It wasn’t something I had planned, mostly because I was pregnant at the time.”
“By Lucius Malfoy?” Sirius asked, his eyes darkening.
“Yes, I can admit I was foolish and fell for him, but you have to know he’s changed some. But the Lucius of now, is NOT her father, I am getting my daughter back.”
“There is no way Malfoy would let us inside Malfoy manor,” Remus said.
Percy had been thinking about that. “You don’t need to deal with him. I need you to make my family forget about my daughter.”
“What about St. Mungo’s? Her birth is down on record,” Remus said.
“I’ll take care of that. Just please, go to the Burrow and make them forget about her. Make them think I’m staying with you this summer and it was all planned. Can you do that?”
“Alright but after this, I will be getting some answers. Right?” Sirius asked.
“I promise.”
“Fine, go get Harry and tell him we are going to introduce him to some people,” Sirius told Remus.
“Thank you. I’ll meet you back here tonight,” Percy told them. He was still lucky and whatever potions they gave him for the pain was working still. If he had any luck left it would last until he was back with his daughter. Mostly he was running on need to save his child.
Once he was out the door, he knew he had to find Higgs. That was more or less easy because just knowing grown Higgs, he knew when he was younger, he would stay at King’s Cross until he was forced to go home.
Terrence put his best Slytherin smile while he waited for someone to open the door. When Percy found him, he thought it would all be tears and sobs, but Percy Weasley had changed it seemed. It was kind of hot.
Just the thought of getting one over on Lucius Malfoy was a bit of a kick. When Percy had told him that Lucius was the baby’s other father, he was shocked. But knowing he could take the bastard down that made his life hell was thrilling. All he wanted to do was graduate Hogwarts and get his own life. But Malfoy wanted every Slytherin he could to follow his dark lord. They lost four Slytherins from his year during the war, they believed the tripe Malfoy sold them.
The door opened and he was greeted by Narcissa Malfoy. He had expected it to be a house elf or someone else.
“Yes?” she asked in that cultured voice of hers.
“Hello, Mrs. Malfoy, my name is Terrence Higgs, you remember my father?”
“Oh, yes. What can I do for you?” He could tell she wanted him gone.
“I was hoping to speak to Mr. Malfoy.”
“This really isn’t a good time,” she hedged.
“Please, my father would be very cross with me if I don’t speak with him.”
“Oh, alright,” she said, turning around. That was the moment he took his wand out. Memory charms were a specialty of his in his department of Muggle Detection. Soundlessly he wiped her memories completely of the Baby Girl Weasley. She would be a bit dazed for a while but that would help.
She wondered off to places unknown in the manor, but he knew where he was going. A quick search later and he was able to clear Draco of knowledge of the girl. Now he needed to find the house elf that Percy told him about.
“What are you doing in master’s house?” a voice screeched. Great, just who he was looking for.
“Dobby, do you know where the baby is?”
“You can’t take master’s baby.”
“Your master won’t treat her right. I’m going to take her to the home where Harry Potter is.”
“The Harry Potter?” the house elf asked, eyes wide.
“Yes. The baby’s father wants her, he didn’t give her up.”
The house elf looked torn, and he knew he would have to tread lightly. He couldn’t ask him to fully betray his master.
“I just need to know where she is.”
“Master has her in his office. Master doesn’t trust Mistress; he thinks she will take the baby back to its other parent.”
“Yes, she belongs with her other father. Please, help me.”
“Dobby can’t betray his master.” He looked like he was about to hit himself.
“I don’t want you to betray him. I’ll just speak with him. Just don’t stop me.”
“Dobby won’t stop you from taking baby Malfoy even if he has to punish himself.”
“Good.” He knew where the office was because of his forced participation in the beginning of the second wizarding war.
Tapping on the door, he walked in without invitation. He struck fast, hitting Lucius with a stunning spell, quickly followed by the memory charm. They were easier when the memory was fresh, not a lot of digging around for it. Since everyone just found out about the baby today, it worked in his favor. He knew Malfoy wouldn’t have told anyone about the baby until he worked out how to pass it off as his wife’s.
Walking over to the desk, he was in luck and the scrolls about her were on top. He grabbed them and shoved them in his muggle coat’s pocket. A baby’s coo drew his attention. There she was in a cot, gurgling at nothing. He picked her up and vanished the cot, it would pop up somewhere else in the manor but not here.
“You have master’s baby.”
“She’s not your master’s baby. I removed every trace of her from your master. Is that alright?”
“Master is a mean man. He shouldn’t have her.”
“Where is the family tapestry?”
The elf fidgeted but pointed behind where Lucius sat dazed. He quickly erased her from it. The only reason he was able to do it was because he had a small about of Malfoy blood in him, but most purebloods were related.
“Do you want me to get rid of the memory, so you don’t have to lie?” He saw the hope in the elf’s eyes and quickly did the memory charm. He wasn’t skilled a lot with magical creatures so it may not stick but for the time being it would work. As a dazed looked took over the elf’s face, he quickly left the manor. He was lucky because he knew how they traced wand use of underage wizards, so he was safe.
The pain was there now, he just wanted to rest. He was able to get rid of the records of the baby at St. Mungo’s. It worked in his favor that he had worked so much with them setting up a new transportation system in the future.
He found the two healers and wiped their memory but only of him and Malfoy. They will remember they had a baby and a teenager but nothing after that. They will be too busy with other work to think too much on it. The two aurors, he had gotten before the hospital, they had been out to eat when he got them.
When he walked in the door, he was greeted by the best sound he had ever heard. The crying of a baby. Ignoring the silent screaming of Mrs. Black, he ran further into the house. He stopped dead in his tracks with the beautiful sight in front of him. Higgs was swaying in front of the fireplace with a little pink bundle in his arms.
“You did it, you got her,” he said, looking at the beautiful sight they made.
“It was easier than I even thought. Slytherins usually expect a sense of safety around each other. Idiotic if you ask me, we’re the ones that would sell our mothers out for a bit of power.”
“Not you,” Percy said. Higgs could have been higher up in the Ministry, but he didn’t play a game, he worked hard.
“Not me. Want to hold her?”
“Please.”
He held her for the rest of the night, never putting her down. Remus and Sirius were already back when he arrived. He knew they were giving him time, but he could see the questions building up in Sirius’s eyes. He would have to tell them the truth, it was a promise he intended to keep. They helped him get his baby back and now no one knew about her but the ones at Grimmald Place right now, he owed them.
