Hogsmead date
The week went oddly well. Like every week, Regulus had been mocked by Slytherins because he left “the Noble and most Ancient House of Black” but he didn’t care anymore. Training was amazing. Lyra was one of the nicest kids Regulus has ever met. She listened to Regulus’ advice like he was a master of Quidditch. She had a lot of talent and would surely become an excellent seeker. In the corner of his eyes, Regulus had tried to catch a glimpse of James and the girls. The only thing that Regulus noticed was that James was an incredible teacher and, as Regulus had already told him, he was amazing with kids. Yesterday they did their patrol (for once) and caught one student from each house. They did not punish them but just told them to go back to their rooms.
Today was the Hogsmeade trip. Regulus had never been this excited to go. Barty and Dorcas had teased him the entire way to the village. Before meeting the other at the Three Broomsticks, Regulus needed to buy the bracelets. He left his friends at Honeydukes and went to the jewellery store with Pandora. He was going to need her help even though he knew what he was looking for. Regulus wanted to buy a bracelet with a star and a sun. He also wanted the bracelet to be red and gold because he knew how much James liked his House colour. For Kreacher, he doesn't really know what to get. He is going to get something simple like a one colour string with a single bead.
“What are you thinking about buying, Reggie?”
“Uhm I want to buy James something. I was thinking of a bracelet. I’m going to look around and see if I see something I want.”
“I’m going to look around. See if I find something for Xeno.”
“Did you ask him if he wanted to come with us today?”
“Yes but he was going to the library to write his newspaper so I will bring him something back.”
“Okay. I'm going this way. See if I find something.”
“We meet here in 20.”
Regulus wandered around the store until his eyes stopped on a beautiful bracelet. It looked exactly like the one he had imagined. Regulus immediately picked it up. It was the one he needed. Now he only needed one for Kreature.
He continued his way around the shop. After 20 minutes he hadn't found anything that could be good for Kreature so he went to the check out to buy the bracelet. Pandora was already waiting for him with a little bag in hand.
“Found one of the things I was looking for but not the other. I hope James would like what I chose.”
“I'm sure he’ll like whatever you bought him. Should we go join them at the bar?”
“Yeah I think we should.”
So together they went to join the other at the three broomsticks. The Gryffindors were already there so they just joined. Barty and Evan had entered at the same time as them so this is kind of how they were seated : on one side there was Lily, Marlene, James, Evan, Peter and Sirius, and on the other side there was Mary, Dorcas, Regulus, Barty, Pandora and Remus. Somehow Regulus and James managed to sit across from each other. Regulus felt Barty and Dorcas elbow him on both sides and saw Lily giving him and James a look. To seem “normal” Regulus crossed his arms and put a bored look on his face. Under the table he could feel James’ feet tangle around his ankle.
“Okay so everyone is here to plan a prank with none other than us: the amazing Marauders.”
“Keep your ego down Potter.”
“Oh come on Regulus you know our pranks are amazing. Anyway, we need all of you to help us plan a prank on the new DADA teacher. Do any of you have an idea? Yes Barty.”
“We could try to put poison in his morning juice.”
“No Barty, we won't kill anyone.” said Sirius. “Any other ideas?
“I thought we could turn all his clothes into something he hates and change his hair colour to his least favourite colour.”
“That's a great beginning of a plan but for it to work we’ll need to know what he hates. Do any of you know what he hates?”
“He hates everything related to Muggles and his least favourite colour is red.”
“Are you sure about what you are saying, Regulus?”
“Yes I am Remus. He believes the same things my parents do and so he hates the same things as well.”
“Okay now that we have an idea we could talk about something else like the Halloween Party in a month but before this Party will happen the Victory Party after the Quidditch game.” proclaimed Sirius
“You and your Gryffindors self esteem.”
“Well I'm sure that if we win the end of the game and the party following will be awesome.” which led James to being punched in the shin and to let out a little ouch.
“Shut up,” said Regulus under his breath.
“I think all of you should come to the party after the match. It would be awesome and I'm sure no one would mind 2 or 3 more students.”
“Well we would never say no to a party. We are in.”
“Okay and what about the Halloween party. It is one of the biggest parties we throw each year.”
“It's true our Halloween parties are wonderful. The only thing you need to be allowed at the party is to wear a costume. Us three are dressing as fairies from Tinkerbell. Dorcas and Pandora do you want to join the group costume? We only have Tinkerbell for Marlene, Mary as Fawn and me as Rosetta.”
“Can I be Periwinkle!!!”
“Of course Pandora.”
“Okay if Pandora goes as Periwinkle I'll go as Iridessa.”
“That is awesome!!! And you guys, what are you going as”
“Me and Remus are doing a couple costumes. I’m dressing as Crowley and he is dressing as Aziraphale.”
“What about you, Barty and Evan”
“Didn't think about it yet.”
“And James and Peter, who would you go as?”
“No idea either. What about you Reggie.”
“Don't call me that Potter. And I'm not going to wear a stupid Halloween outfit just to go to a party.”
“You are no fun.”
Regulus rolled his eyes, scribbled something on a piece of paper, threw it at James, stood up and walked out of the bar.
“You've put him in a bad mood Potter.”
“I’ve noticed, thanks Barty. I'm going to see if everything is alright. I'll be back.”
Regulus wasn't actually mad at James. It was an excuse for them to meet. The paper thrown at James actually said.
“Meet me outside. I’ve got something for you.
R.A.B”
When James got out he saw Regulus waiting for him.
“Hello love.”
“We've literally been sitting across from one another for an hour, James. Come here we can't be seen.” Said Regulus dragging James into an alley. When they were sure no one could see them, Regulus grabbed James by the tie to kiss him.
“Hi”
“Hi”
“Have bought you a gift.”
“I did too actually.”
“You bought me something?”
“Of course I did, little star.”
“Here is your gift. Open it first. You kind of already know what it is but … here you go.”
James took the little gift and unwrapped it. There was a little box that was gold and red like his house colour. When he opened it a little bracelet was in it. It was a gold and red bracelet with a star and a sun. In the middle there was a light blue stone.
“It's an aquamarine. Your birth month stone. And the sun reminded me of you because you are the warmth and happiness in my day. And the star is for you know.. Regulus”
“You are amazing Regulus. This is so beautiful. I love it. Can I kiss you?”
“Yes you can, idiot.” they kissed again. It was a soft and warm kiss. It was like being kissed by the sun but not in a bad way at all.
“Now open yours, Regulus.”
Regulus mimicked James and unwrapped his gift. It was also a little box but this one was green and silver. Regulus opened the box and right there was sitting the prettiest bracelet Regulus had ever seen. It was a green and silver bracelet with the Leo constellation on it and an alexandrite next to the Regulus star.
“When I saw it I immediately thought of you. The green and the silver for the Slytherin colour. The Leo constellation because I'm a gryffindor and the heart of the lion is the Regulus' star. And finally the alexandrite is your birthstone. It has the ability to change colour depending on the light. Do you like it?”
Regulus didn't answer but he instead kissed James.
“It's amazing James. I love it.” Regulus brought James’ lips to his once again
“Love, I think we should go back before anyone comes out to see if we are fighting. Do you really not want to wear a costume for Halloween?”
“Well I usually don’t but if you want to do a matching outfit I will not say no.”
“Really !!! Okay, I’ll write you a letter to propose some ideas. You could do your own list too. Let’s go back to the others now.” they went back like nothing had just happened. On the way to their table James bought a new round of butterbeer and bought a round of firewhiskey. He then got back to his seat.
For the rest of the day they just drank and talked. It was very nice. Regulus had once again fallen asleep but this time on Dorcas. He was drooling a bit and his feet were still intertwined with James’ legs under the table.
“He is so beautiful, Marlene. How can he look like such an angel every fucking minute.”
“I think you should confess your feelings to him.”
“I hope I could Marlene. I hope I had the courage to” Marlene got closer to James ear and whispered
“I know you two are dating. You guys are obvious. I can literally see your feets under the table.”
“Can you promise you won’t tell anyone.”
“Well I can’t keep it from Dorcas.”
“They already know. Since last week you know when we arrived together. Well they got out of their common room while I was kissing Regulus. So I couldn't lie. Keep your voice down until next week okay.”
“You knew, Dorcas, and you didn’t tell me.”
“Well I swore Regulus I wouldn’t tell. James, can we switch places. I want to lay on my girlfriend.”
“Of course. I don’t really care.”
“What are you doing?”
“We are switching places, Sirius. I want to lay on my girlfriend.”
So they did just that. Regulus fell asleep on James again and James couldn’t help himself from passing his hand into the curly black hair of his boyfriend. An hour later, they all got up and went back to the castle before dinner. With everything, this day had just been perfect.
