Picnic Date
Regulus, like on a usual Tuesday, was having a potion class. It was the last period of his afternoon and often stayed a bit longer to talk with his teacher while his friends waited for him outside. Today they had studied about Skele-gro which Regulus found really entertaining. It was a potion used to make your broken bones grow back. Regulus stayed back to ask about learning more medical potion. Slughorn only told him that if he wanted to learn more about healing he’ll have to go to Ms Pomfrey. When he got out of class Barty and Evan weren’t here anymore. Actually no one was in the corridor but something still managed to grab him by the arm and pulled him into an empty classroom.
“James, I know it’s you. I recognised the grip of your hand on my arm. But you need to explain how you knew I was still here and explain how the fuck you are invisible.” Regulus got out of James’ grip, crossed his arms and raised his eyebrow in what he knew was James’ way.
“Sorry love, I forgot I was wearing the cape. So as you may have guessed I have an invisibility cloak. And I can't tell you why I knew you were here, that is a secret I cannot tell. Well that’s logic you don’t tell a secret that is the goal. What would be the point of making it a secret if I just go around telling everyone. And you know I would never tell our secret. It is safe with me and Dorcas and…”
James' last world got cut off by Regulus pressing his soft lips on his.
“Hi”
“Hi, honey”
“That’s a new one.”
“Yes it is. Is it okay? I didn’t think. It just came out.”
“It’s fine James. I like it.”
“I’ve missed you so much so I’m taking you out on a date.”
“You’ve seen me at lunch, James.”
“Yeah. I’ve seen you but I didn’t get to kiss you or hold you or anything.”
“You really are desperate for physical touch James, aren’t you?”
“Yes I am. Now let’s go. Get under the cloak and I will lead the way”
“Where are we going, James?”
“That is a surpriiiise”
“I don’t like surprise, James”
“Too late because I’ve already planned our afternoon”

“Are you taking me to the fucking Forbidden forest. James, are you mad?! If it says forbidden in the name it is for a reason.”
“Hey Regulus, it’s fine. I’ve gone there many times. I even have some friends. You’ll see everything will be alright.”
“Of course you’ll have fucking creatures friends in the forest.” said Regulus under his breath
“Love, if you don’t want to go it’s okay I have a plan B in case this situation comes up.”
“No it’s okay I’ll go. I trust you. Can I just hold on to your hand and stay close to you?”
“Of course honey, I’ll show you the way.”
They kept on walking for like 10 minutes before James put his hand in front of Regulus’ eyes.
“What are you doing, James.”
“Keeping the secret until the last minute. Okay we’re here. You can open your eyes”
The place looked like being in a fantasy book Regulus would read. Rays of sunlight were coming through the tree leaves and looked like spirits. There was a little point of water in the middle of the trees. It was beautiful. Regulus looked down and saw that a picnic blanket was spread out on the floor with a basket full of various foods. Regulus felt tears coming up to his eye. He just had a rough summer and beginning of school year but James just spawned into his life and it was like Regulus could breathe again. Like James turned a light switch on. No one ever showed him this much affection.
“Do you like it? You’re not saying anything so I'm kind of panicking there.” Regulus turned around to face James. “Oh no, you’re crying. Is something wrong? Did I say something wrong? Do you not like it? Oh no did I fucked up?” Regulus grabbed James by the hand before speaking.
“James, you did nothing wrong. I love it. It’s perfect. You’re perfect. I just … a lot you know. How did you even manage to prepare all of this when you had class.”
“Well, we have really great friends called Remus and Lily that care a lot about you. And I happen to know some elves in the kitchen that would do anything for a star. Oh and I tried to bake what I think is your favourite cake. OrAnGe CupCake !!!!!” (little jazz hand)
“How did you know it was my favourite? I’ve never told you.”
“Well your brother also happens to be my best friend so I just asked him. I told him it will be part of my mission to get closer to a certain Regulus if you happen to know him.”
“You are an idiot, James.”
“Yeah but I’m yours and you like it.”
“Yes, I really do.”
They sat together on the blanket and ate all the fruits and cupcakes. James, like the idiot he is, was making a show. He was throwing grapes in the air and trying to catch them directly in his mouth. This made Regulus laugh because it wasn’t very successful. They talked about their day, what classes they had and what they had learned.
“Oh, I think…”
“I didn’t know you were able to do that”
“Real funny, love. So as I was saying, I won’t be able to do patrol with you Friday next week. It’s going to be a full moon so all the Marauders stay together on those days so I chose to pair you with Pandora.”
“Okay that’s fine by me. I really like to do patrols with Pandora. Oh and about Thursday, where and when are we meeting for practice?”
“I think we could meet directly on the pitch. I’ll pick Lyla up and then come. You could maybe do the same with your players. And I was wondering if you did the research about the kind of linking spell.”
“I didn’t really have the time to do research but I thought about magical matching bracelets that would light up when you touch them. Maybe the colour could depend on the type of emergency.”
“That is an amazing idea, Regulus. Maybe I could do some research on my side to find a spell that could link two bracelets. I could maybe see how Sirius and I’s mirrors work because they are linked and might use the same kind of magic we are looking for. Also, as Head Boy, I am allowed into the restricted section which might also help.” said James while passing his hand through the hair of the boy laying in his lap.
“Thank you, James, that would be really helpful. I’m just really exhausted these days. Maybe we could find bracelets Saturday. I’ll buy yours and Kreacher’s because lets not forget that he also is part of this.”
“Yeah I kind of forgot about that part. Can we maybe do one for Kreacher that would only light up if you are in danger. Like very important things.”
“We could but what did you intend to use the bracelet for anyway, James.”
“Well..um you know… just to inform you that I’m thinking about you or when I see something that makes me think about you when we are not together.”
“Sure. No other thoughts”
“no….”
“Well I guess that would be nice. Shouldn’t we go back to the castle before dinner. I’m sure my friends would like to bother me about the date before going to eat. Yours might ask you where you’ve been too. Remember you can only tell Lily, Remus and Peter.”
“Yeah I know but I haven’t told Peter because he isn’t a great secret keeper. I’m pretty sure the girls will figure us out on the Hogsmead trip but they won’t tell a soul until we make it public. Don’t worry about Sirius, he is the most oblivious person I know. The one you should worry about is me. I’m not sure I can handle lying to them for too long. When do you think you’ll be ready to tell your brother?”
“I think I’m going to tell him at the end of your Quidditch match in a month but only if you win.”
“Wooo and can I know how you plan on doing it?”
“Well I thought maybe kissing the Captain on the field in front of the entire school would be a good thing. And also wearing this so-called Captain jersey on his following match. But all of this will only happen if he wins.” said Regulus while crawling on James.
“You are a menace to humanity Regulus” said James. He then pulled Regulus closer to kiss him. They then rolled on the grass laughing like little kids.
“I know. Would you be a gentleman and walk me back to my room Jamie?” Regulus finally saw a small blush forming on James' darker skin.
“Of course my love. Get under the cloak so we could go back unnoticed."

“So what did he do to you?!?” said Barty as soon as Regulus passed the door.
“I’ll tell you in a moment. But let’s get Dorcas and Pandora first because as much as I love to tell my date as many times as possible I don’t like repeating myself.”
“They are already here. They just went to get some water in the bathroom. They should come back any moment.”
“Here. We’re here. Regulus you are going to tell us eve-ry-thing about your day. Everyone gathered here on the floor. Regulus tell us your tale.”
“So when I got out of potion, James grabbed me and pulled me into an empty classroom. And no Barty we did not have sex.”
“But you love sex. It’s sad you didn’t have it in so long.”
“I don’t like love sex and I want to wait with James. Anyway, he took me on our first date and it was magical. At first I thought he was mad because he was taking me to the forbidden forest. But turns out it was like living a dream. There was a little point of water in the middle of the trees. The only light was coming from the sun rays in between the leaves. And just there in the grass, a picnic was set. James had brought my favourite fruits and he baked my favourite cake.”
“He made you FUCKING ORANGE CUPCAKES.”
“Yeah he did and I never even had told him it was my favourite. He went to ask Sirius. And then he threw grapes in the air and tried to catch them in his mouth. He missed and I fucking laughed. And then I called him Jamie. Fuck I think I’m in love with him.”
“Wow, that was fast.”
“And pretty fucking cute.”
“Shut up Evan.”
“Are you going to tell him you're in love with him ?”
“What no. I am not ready at all to tell him. Before telling him that I will tell Sirius we are dating you know.”
“When do you plan on doing that?”
“First Quidditch game of the season if he wins against Ravenclaw.”
“And how do you plan on doing it?”
“I have absolutely no idea.”
“I know what you are going to do, Reggie.”
“How could you know Panda ?”
“Well I saw it in a vision, but I won't tell if you don’t want me to.”
“You’ll tell me after or we could speak mind to mind. But only I can know so it will be a surprise for everyone.”
Regulus then casted a wandless Legilimency on Pandora. They learned to do this on their own in third year when they didn’t want anyone else to know what they were talking about.
