Crush and party
Today was the day. They were going to throw an awesome party with all of their friends. Yesterday Sirius and Remus went on a date in Diagon Alley while James and Peter were buying everything they needed for tonight. They had a lot of alcohol. There was firewhisky, butterbeer and champagne (they had bought it because Regulus asked and James couldn't say no to him). Lily and Mary would also be bringing alcohol but Muggle ones.
Right now Sirius and Remus were sleeping (well they didn't really sleep last night). Peter also was sleeping, getting rest before the night.
James had just woken up and got down stairs to eat his breakfast.
His parents had left for the weekend to leave them the house.
When he got to the kitchen he was met with Regulus who was cooking with his house elf. He seemed so peaceful right now. Well he was until he noticed James had entered the room.
“What are you doing here Potter” Regulus said and Kreature left him here.
“Oh I was just going to make myself breakfast. Can you pass me the cereals that are on the counter while I grab myself some milk and a bowl?”
“No I can't, I'm not your slave Potter. Get it yourself.”
“Wow, so nice of you Regulus. What are you even doing in the kitchen this early in the morning?” It wasn't early, it was almost 2pm.
“I'm trying to be helpful here. I'm making cakes and food for everybody tonight because you were idiots enough to forget to buy food to go with all the alcohol you got.”
“Oh uhm, that really nice of you Reggie”
“Don't call me that Potter.”
“Oh sorry Regulus but it's cool.”
“Cool?”
“Yeah you know I wasn't sure I was being a great host to you..”
“You're not.” Regulus added without even looking up from what he was baking.
“Well I hope you feel wanted, that's all I want. And I hope you'll have a good time tonight.”
“Uhm thanks I guess. Just so you are aware Barty and Evan are horrible when drunk.”
“Oh that’s not a bad thing. I guess you aren't.”
Regulus didn't get the time to answer because just then Remus and Sirius got back down hand in hand followed by Peter. James found that Sirius and Remus were one of the cutest couples he has ever seen. He was so glad they finally found out they were in love with each other after 6 years of pining. James wanted a love as cute as theirs. Maybe he could have it with the boy standing in front of him. He really hoped so.
“Hey guys.”
“Good morning James.” They said in unison.
“Just so you all know we have 5 hours before everyone is getting here. We'll have to rearrange the living room, get the speaker and the karaoke set from the garage and set everything on the tables.”
“I'll go get everything from the garage.” said Peter.
“We’ll help you with the living room, James. I think Lily and Mary said they'll get here early to help in the kitchen.” Remus added.
“I can't wait for everyone to arrive. It's been so long since we were all reunited.”
“James, it's been a week.” Sirius mentioned
“Yes but a week ago Regulus and his friends weren't there so it changes everything”
“We are not going to change a thing, Potter.” Regulus said before leaving the room holding eye contact with James and James only did the same back.
James couldn't look away from the younger boy, even when he was out of the room and the door was closed. He couldn’t help himself from smiling. He was so pretty. His thoughts got cut by a gasp coming from his friends.
"Oh my God I know that look. It’s the same one you had for Lily last year before you dated her"
"What are you talking about Remus. I don't have any special look on right now."
"Oh no not right now but you definitely had on when looking at Regulus before we arrived and when he left. I think there is something going on in this brain of yours Prongs."
"Pete, Merlin what are you talking about"
"I’m just saying that it looks like you have a crush on baby Black."
"What… No… uhm i don’t…No " James was moving his arms in the air. He was so nervous about what Sirius was going to think of James' crush if he found out. James cast a quick silencing over the room to make sure Regulus wouldn’t overhear their conversation.
"James, sit down." that was Sirius with a tone James has never heard him take. So James sat down on one side of the table while his three friends were on the other side.
"You will answer this three questions honestly okay Prongs."
"Okay" James was scared about what was going to happen to him.
"James, do you have, by any chance, a crush on my brother "
" Yeah " said James ashamed
"Okay. Since when?"
"His first year at Hogwarts"
"Woah I didn’t know you were that good at hiding your feelings Prongs" Moony interrupted
"yeah well it’s not like I was going to scream it on every roof"
"Last question and you’re free from this. Do you see him as his own being and not just my younger brother you could play with?"
"Merlin what is this question. Of course I see him as his own self . Who wouldn't. Is amazing, pretty,hot, smart and funny in his own way. I just the best for him even if he doesn’t like me back…yet👆"
"Okay thank fuck. Even if I didn’t need to know about you finding my little brother hot …ew. I’m glad it’s him you like even if it’s one sided for now."
"I'm so relieved I told all of you and you reacted well. I don’t think I could have kept it a secret for longer anyway."
"How many people knew about it ? You must have told a soul since second year "
"Lily is the only one who knew. That’s why we broke up. She liked Mary and I liked Regulus so it was best for us to break up because we both liked some else."
"You really have a type Prongs" Remus said
"What do you mean "
"Younger sibling, mean to you, incredible at potion, prefect, top student"
"mmh I guess you’re right on this one Remus but I think you forgot the most important"
"Which is?? "

Barty and Evan got to the Potters Manor at 5pm. They spent the entire afternoon in Regulus’ room. Barty seemed to have noticed something was wrong with Regulus. They, of course, had cast a silencing spell over the room.
“There is something going on in this little mind of yours Reggie.”
“I…I don't know what you're talking about.”
“Sure you don't. So how is it living with your brother and Potter.”
“It is horrible. I don't even know what went through my mind when I came here in the first place. But it was the only place I could go to. I have only been here for two days so I can't really judge for now. The only good things here are the food and the Quidditch pitch.”
“Okay so what about your crush on Potter.” Barty said out of nowhere while passing his hand through Evan’s hair who was lying down in his lap.
“I don't have a crush on Potter. I don't know where you picked that from.” Regulus said, trying not to look at them. His fucking cheek were burning.
“And that's why you're blushing. You know you can't hide anything from us.”
Regulus laid down on the bed in a very dramatic way and screamed into a pillow. He didn't know what was happening to him. He didn't know what he was feeling.
“I don't know Barty, I don't know… I can't have a crush on Potter.”
“Why can't you ?”
“Because, I'm supposed to hate him. He is my brother's best friend. And he is the popular kid.”
"Well none of this are real reasons Reg."
"And the line between love and hate is really thin you know"
"Shut up Evan. And yes they are Barty"
"No they're not. So what are the real reasons ?"
"Because I hate him for the fact Sirius run away from home to go to him, his real brother. Sirius will never like me as much as he does James. And I know James is the kindest person I have ever met. He just likes everyone, he even asked me if I felt good here this morning. He is the sun. He is the Headboy and one of best Quidditch players in the school. And I’ll never be enough for him. He deserves someone better than the fucking mess I am." Regulus was sobbing hard on the pillow and found himself lying in between Barty and Evan.
"Whoa I didn’t know you could get like this over a boy, Reggie boy. Hey listen to me, you are enough for him. And you maybe are a bit of a mess but I think Potter is one to like fixing everything. Now get over your gay crisis and let’s get ready for the party. We will help you look hot for lover boy."
"Don’t call him that Barty. "
And just like that Regulus had told his two best friends he had a ridiculous crush on his brother’s best friend and they were helping him to choose an outfit and put makeup on his face.

The party had begun two hours ago and everyone was already wasted. Even Regulus. He must have had a lot to drink because he never got this drunk at a party. Remus knew that because sometimes, after their study session with Lily, they went out for drinks and Regulus would drink a lot more than Lily and Remus and he never got wasted.
At the moment Regulus was singing “Dancing Queen” with Evan and Barty. Regulus was the leading voice while the other two boys were doing background ones. They were standing and dancing on one of the tables in the living room. They were using TV remotes as mics.
Remus was relieved Sirius had gone to the kitchen with Marlene because he would have obviously stopped Regulus from dancing like THIS. Remus turned his head to look at how James was reacting to this show.
James was in fact not handling it really well. He was literally drooling over Regulus' dancing body. He was not really good at hiding his crush anymore.
“Uhm James you should probably close your mouth if you don't want the entire room to know about your silly “little” crush on Regulus.”
“Oh thanks Moony. You can't deny the fact that he is incredible and just the most beautiful person that ever walked this earth”. James was definitely drunk
“Well yes I, in fact, can Prongs because his awesome brother, who also happens to be your best friend, is my boyfriend. So I can’t deny the fact that Regulus is really pretty because he is but I don't think he is the …” Remus got interrupted by a screaming Marlene coming back from the kitchen.
“EVERYONE COME AND SIT AROUND THIS LOVELY TABLE. WE ARE NOW PLAYING NEVER HAVE EVER”
“I don’t want to” moaned regulus while getting off of the table
“Nah ah baby black everyone in this room is playing no acting like a baby”
Regulus groaned but still sat in between Remus and Lily.
“Okay so because I chose what we were going to play so I’m going to ask the first question. Starting with an easy question. Never have I ever dated someone in this room”. Everyone in the room took a shot except for Peter and Pandora.
“Okay i’ll go next. Never have I ever got detention.” The Marauders looked at one another and took their shot together. They were followed by Barty and Evan and that was it.
“Never have I ever dated a girl.” James, Lily, Mary and Dorcas took their shot proudly. Sirius was the only one to be shameful to take his so Remus whispered in his ear. “hey I don’t care, love”
The next one to go was Lily. “ Never have I ever been someone's first kiss around this table”. Lily was a sadistic bitch she knew that Regulus and Remus were each others. They both took their shot without looking at each other. Mary, Sirius, Dorcas and Pandora also took a shot. No one in the room saw that they took a shot.
“Never have I ever kissed both Black brother”
“You’re a bitch” whispered Remus
“I know” was Regulus only answer
“Pfff that’s such a stupid question Reggie. No one has kissed the both of us”
“Well you might be wrong here, love”
“WHAT THE FUCK, REMUS YOU KISSED MY ITTY-BITTY BABY BROTHER. I HAVE BEEN BETRAYED. PRONGS HELP ME!! I THINK I’M GOING TO DIE”
“You are such a dramatic bitch Sirius. It was long before you two dated. We both just wanted to know if we liked boy nothing more. So calm your hormones and kiss your boyfriend if you want. I know how good of a kisser he is so you are allowed to kiss him in front of me. But when you are finished we go back to the game because, Remus, you are the next one to play”.
All the questions were easy to answer and not pointed at anyone until Barty’s turn came up.
“Okay, so never have i ever had a crush on a younger sibling”
James turned bright red at the statement and took his shot. The girls didn’t say a thing because Lily also was a younger sibling. Oh Barty also knew something was going on between Regulus and James. Maybe Regulus also had a crush on James because he was sending death glare in Barty’s way. Remus will need to investigate a bit more on this.
The game didn't go on any longer. They were all really tired and not in the mood for partying anymore. So everyone decided to go on the sofa to watch a movie. Remus, James and Regulus were on one of the sofas with Regulus in the middle. Sirius was sitting on the floor in between Remus’ legs. Mary, Lily and Dorcas were sitting on the other couch with Marlene in between Dorcas’ legs on the floor with Sirius. Lastly Barty and Evan were intertwined into each other on the armchair.
Peter had to go home because he was leaving for Germany tomorrow morning and his mother didn't want him to get home too late. Pandora also went back. She was spending her last moment of summer with Xenophilius and didn't want to stay for much longer.
Their go-to movie when they have a night like that is Star Wars. When the movie started, Regulus groaned next to Remus. He was still very smashed and he looked very sleepy but he seemed really annoyed by the fact they were watching Star Wars.
“I don't want to watch it again…” When he said that he lied down on James’ stomach. He must have thought it was anyone else but James because a sober Regulus would never do this. James turned bright red once again. After an hour in the movie Regulus had fallen asleep on James. Lily took a Polaroid picture because Regulus seemed so peaceful at the moment. James managed to move a bit without disturbing the younger boy and said.
“I think I'm going to get this one to bed. We watched the movie 2 days ago so I'm not sure if I'll get back down. Have a good night. You all know where your rooms are so goodnight.”
“Goodnight James.” Everyone responded.

James was being really careful while getting Regulus up the stairs. When they got to the latter’s room, James settled him down on his bed. Regulus moved a bit and mumbled.
“I was lying earlier James. You are the best host I could have ever asked for. You're pretty, you're strong, you're funny, you're doing everything in your power to make me feel wanted and all I do in answer is being mean and horrible to you. You are really likeable and I hate it because it makes it hard for me to act like I hate you. Just so you know I don't James. I don't hate you.”
“Hey Reggie I don't think you are in your best state for confession right now so just go to sleep. If you really mean all you just said, you'll be capable of saying it to me one day when you'll be sober. I know you are not the best at sleeping so I'm going to stay here until you fall back asleep okay.”
“You need to know that if I go back down to sleep, I'll be dreaming of this pretty face of yours.” He said with a very sleepy tone.
“Goodnight Regulus” said James, holding back his tears.
“Goodnight Jamie” responded the younger boy in a soft voice.
James was holding back tears. Yes Regulus had just called him pretty for the first time but it wasn't real for him he was drunk and he didn't mean a word of what he had just said. But all of this broke James' heart because this meant something for him. He liked Regulus. But as always it was one sided. James just wished Regulus had been sober when he said all this.
When he knew the younger boy was asleep again, James planted a kiss on Regulus' temple and whispered “Goodnight little star” before going to his own room to sleep.
