Aftermath
Regulus felt horrible. He had never had this much drink. His head was hurting like a bitch. He needed a hangover potion. He looked over, and on his bedside table stood the exact potion he wanted but also muggle painkillers. Someone must have put them there last night.
Regulus didn’t remember much from last night. He knew he danced on a table with Barty and Evan but that pretty much it. So he went to the room Barty and Evan were staying in. He looked at himself in the mirror and realised he hadn’t changed into his pyjamas and didn’t remove his makeup. Well that would be a problem after learning what he did last night.
He knocked before entering the room because he knew how his two friends could get and he didn’t want to have the image of his friends having sex stuck in his head again. He was their roomate at Hogwarts so he knew better than not to knock. When he got the answer to enter he walked directly to the bed.
“What happened last night and how did I get to my bed”
“Oh this is fun. You were really wasted last night”
“I know Evan, that's why I'm here. What happened after we danced on the table ?”
“You don’t remember a thing”
“No I don’t. I got drunk until I forgot about my crush on Potter..”
“Uhm yeah. Well I think your drunk self didn’t forget about it.”
“What do you mean Barty? What did I do?”
“Well we played “never have I ever”. Don’t worry nothing happened during the game. If you want to know, Sirius now knows that you and Remus were each other's first kiss. And James drank a shot when I asked if someone ever had a crush on a younger sibling.”
“Well Potter and Evans dated and Evans is also a younger sibling. So even if there’s just two of us, Potter meant it for her, not me.”
“I disagree, he was looking at you and so was Lupin. So I think something is going on.”
“Uhm, that's not interesting. What happened next?”
“We went to the sofas and watched Star Wars…”
“AGAIN!!!”
“You said the exact same thing yesterday night. But you didn’t really watch the movie. You fell asleep on Potter and he is the one who got you back to bed. Lily took a picture of the both of you because you looked so peaceful. We don’t know what happened next because he didn’t come back down.”
“I DID WHAT!!! Oh fuck shit fuck. I remember what happens next. Why did I do that! Fuck fuck fuck.” Regulus was going around and around the room. He was panicking. He suddenly remembered everything that happened the night before. He remembered telling James he liked him. James told him to say it again once he was sober. Maybe James did have feelings back. Regulus had called James “Jamie”!!! James was the one who had brought the hangover potion and the painkillers. Regulus wasn’t asleep when James kissed his temple and called him “little star”. This couldn’t be real.
“What’s going on Reg.”
“Itoldjamesihadacrushonhim” Regulus said really fast and with almost no volume.
“You did what?? Oh Reg him so glad to have you in my life. You bring the drama directly to yourself. What did you actually said.”
“I said he was likeable and that I didn't hate him.”
“Wow, that is almost a love confession coming from you.”
“ I know…”
“Did he say something back?”
“I don’t think so. I know he told me he’ll wait for me to fall back asleep before going to sleep himself.” Regulus cheeks were tainting a slide shade of pink as he thought about last night.
“Oh lover boy really got a grip on you, doesn’t he?”
“Yeah and it makes me feel miserable”

James felt miserable. He didn't sleep well at all. He couldn't stop thinking about last night. He knew what Regulus said didn’t mean anything but he could at least think that a part of Regulus believed it.
James went to find Remus to tell him and him only what happened with Regulus. When he got to the kitchen Remus, as usual, was the only one up.
“Uhm Remus can I talk to you about something?”
“Sure Prongs what is it?” James locked the door and casted a silencing spell over the room.
“So you know how I brought Regulus back to his bed last night because he was wasted.”
“Yeah, Yeah I remember he fell asleep on you so you took him to bed”
“Well yeah. When we got there. Something…happened.”
“DID YOU TWO KISS?!?!?”
“What no we did not. Uh Regulus said he didn’t hate me and that I was pretty and likeable. I told him to stop his confession because he was drunk and he didn’t really mean what he was saying. I said if he really meant it he could say it again when sober. But I’m scared this would never happen. On top of that he called me James. It’s the first time he called me by name. He always calls me Potter or an idiot but last night he called me James. I know it’s not a lot but he was really nice and sweet. And it fuckings hurt because it meant something for me but not for him. Oh and when he was asleep I kissed him on his temple and called him little star. Finally I brought him painkillers and a hangover potion this morning when he was still asleep. And right now I feel fucking miserable and horrible.” James was crying… again.
“Oh James come here. That’s a lot for you and your heart. I know Regulus didn’t intend to hurt you but I still know how you feel. Do you remember what happened between Sirius and me at first.” James nodded in Remus’ shoulder. “ Well look at where it took us. I just think Regulus doesn’t understand his feelings for now. But it’s going to be okay Prongs”
“Pinky promise” James said, holding his finger up while getting back to himself.
“Pinky promise” Remus said, joining their fingers. Just like that James felt good again. He was ready to go on with his day. Until…
~ (interlude) ~
Barty didn’t really know how to feel about Regulus’ crush on Potter. It’s not like he was jealous of Regulus having a new relationship. He wasn’t, because he was dating Evan and Evan was wonderful. No Barty was just very possessive over his friends and wanted to protect them at all cost. He thought that if one person could date Regulus after him it would be either Remus, but was already taken, or Potter.
He didn't know why he thought Potter was a good option. He was a prick and a moron. He also had been a bully to a part of the Slytherin. Well Barty didn't really care about the last fact because Barty couldn't bear his housemate that James had bullied but still. However Barty understood why Regulus would fall for Potter. He was pretty and athletic. He had good grades and good friends. And more importantly, he cared about Regulus. Well James cared about everyone but this was because he was a people pleaser. Barty trusted him for Regulus. He thinks James would show him how much he deserves to be alive.
Barty had a plan. He was going to make Jegulus happen because he was a mastermind and had all the cards he needed to play in his hands. He just needed to roll the dice.
