Brother reunion
Sirius loved his brother with all his heart but he knew one day he’ll have to leave this house. So 2 years ago after the worst fight he had with his mother he chose that this would be the day he would leave to the Potters manor. He had tried to convince his brother to come with him. But Regulus had made the choice back then that he wasn’t ready to leave just now. Sirius understood now, Regulus hadn't come out yet and this was something he had wanted to do before leaving. The thing Sirius was scared about when leaving his brother was for their parents to hurt him because he had let Sirius go. Sirius was also scared that Regulus would not want to talk to him anymore and thanks Merlin he was wrong. When he boarded the Hogwarts Express after the winter break of his 5th year, the first thing he saw were the dark curls of his little brother getting in his face. Sirius was so relieved that nothing happened to him over the break. He hugged him so strongly in his arms. The only thing his brother managed to get out was a little shy “ hi ”. Sirius couldn’t help himself and he told Regulus that whenever he was ready he could join him at Potters manor.
Throughout the year they did a monthly meet up at the astronomy tower. Everything went well but Sirius was scared about leaving Regulus for 2 months in the hands of those monsters. Everything went well. Time slipped through Sirius’ finger and it was already the end of his 6th year at Hogwarts. Without seeing it Regulus was going back again.
It was now late in a chilly night of august and as always Sirius was in the garden of the Potter's house talking to the stars. It was two weeks before he’ll go back for his last year at Hogwarts. He was scared of the aftermath. He never really thought about the future. All he knew was that he was going to spend it with his brother, his boyfriend and his bestfriends. Regulus hadn’t responded to his letters but he wasn’t surprised he knew that he probably never saw them. Walpurga must have burned them even before opening them and never told his brother about it.
There was no noise in the dark of the night. Until there was.
When Sirius heard the cracked noise coming from the street he knew what and who it was. He rushed through the house. Everyone was sleeping but he didn’t care if he was making noise. No one knocked… Well no one had the time to knock. Sirius opened the door and saw two figures: Regulus and Kreacher. Regulus had left and he came to him. Sirius raced out of the house and took his brother in his arms. When he took a step back they looked at eachother and Regulus began.
“hi, i’m so sorry to come so late and i don’t even know if you want me to be here but i figured it was the only place where i would be safe because you would be there. And I'm sorry I can leave if I'm taking too much space. Plus I took Kreacher with me i couldn’t leave him with them but i didn’t think about how much it would be for us to both come here and...and… ” Regulus couldn’t stop his rambling
Sirius recognised what was happening. Regulus was thinking he wasn’t wanted here and was starting to hyperventilate. Sirius knew that ‘cause he was in the same situation when he got here.
So calmly Sirius took Regulus by his shoulders and told him to breathe with him. In and out. Told him to look at him and to breathe together. Sirius didn’t know why he had switched to French to calm his brother down. When Regulus finally managed his breathing. Sirius started to talk.
“ Hey Reggie, I'm so glad you came to me. You are wanted here and you are not a bother at all. How about we go inside and I show you to your room”
“ I… I have a room. But I’ve never come here. I never talked to the Potters and never told you about leaving. How could it be possible for me to have my own room”
“Reggie, breath. The Potters have a lot of room for everybody. If you don’t want to sleep alone you can sleep in my room. Remus is not here tonight and I could use some company and I think you could too. Don’t worry about Kreacher. He is going to get on well with Winnie. It’s already late so I think we should be getting to bed”
“But what about the Potters. They don’t know that I am here. Wouldn’t it be odd for them to come face to face with me tomorrow morning.”
“Don’t worry about them Reggie. We can talk about it tomorrow. Let's just go to my room and have some rest. It won’t be a bother”
“Thank you uhm for welcoming me”
“Oh it’s nothing Reggie you were always welcomed here”
They went up the stairs making as less noise as possible trying not to wake anybody. They entered Sirius’ room that was the total opposite as the one he had at Grimmauld place. They went to bed and exchanged quick goodnight.
“Goodnight Reggie”
“Goodnight Siri”
