Saturday Night

James shut his phone off and shoved it in his pocket. Why did Regulus come to the party? How had Regulus gotten into the party? James walked over to where Regulus was downing a cup of something and pulled him aside,

“What are you doing here?”

“I’m attending the victory party, can’t I be here? Can’t I celebrate your victory?” Regulus says, sarcasm soaking in his words. James grabs onto Regulus’ blue sweater and tugs him across the common room, leading him up the stairs.

“Well lets go upstairs to my dorm, we can’t be seen talking” James mutters, continuing to pull Regulus up the stairs. Regulus knew that they couldn’t be seen together, a Ravenclaw and Gryffindor? The two houses are the schools biggest rivals, how could they be friends?

Well, that’s what they were supposed to be.

So why did Regulus think it’s okay for him to come to the Gryffindor party when they both knew they couldn’t tell anyone what’s going on with them. They walk into James’ dorm and Regulus sits on the other boys bed. James closes the door behind him and leans against the wall.

“Reg, what are you doing here? People are going to suspect something when a Ravenclaw shows up to a Gryffindor party” James says sternly, putting emphasis on the house names.

"Nothing I'm just coming to the victory party." Regulus mumbles looking down, tugging on the sleeve of his sweater. James sighs, "Regulus"

“Okay I’m sorry. I’m pissed about the loss but also not because my boyfriend got to win, so I thought that I could come see you because you can actually make me feel a little less mad about things like this.” Regulus snaps, throwing his hands up in the air. Regulus stiffens, realizing what he said and puts his head in his hands, cursing at himself.

“Boyfriend?” James asks,

“Shit, sorry,” Regulus says looking up from his hands, “I know I said I didn’t want to put a label on this, but I was just thinking... and thought it wouldn't be horrible to call this something. But now I just messed everything up by calling you that so I'm sorry that-“

“Hey, don’t be sorry. I’ve actually been feeling the same way,” James says rushing over to his bed, sitting next to Regulus. Regulus looks back at James with tears in his eyes. James turns towards Regulus and pulls him into a hug, holding him tight around his back, swaying back and forth. Regulus pulls away quickly and looks up at James,

“But what… how do we do this? I mean, we can’t be seen together, people would talk and my parents would find out and flip their shit.”

“We’ll figure it out, but I know we could work this out,” Regulus opens his mouth to say something else, but James cuts him off by continuing, “and don’t worry about your parents, and if we do want to do this, you could maybe come to mine with Sirius and Remus over the break.”

Regulus studied James’ face and frowned, looking down and whispered, “There’s no way my parents would let me come, you know that.” James sighed and agreed, “Yeah you’re right it was stupid to ask. But back to what we were saying, I do think we could make this work, so I would really love to put a label on this, if you’re okay with that.” Regulus looks at James, and instead of replying, he leans forwards and presses his lips onto the other boys. James smiles and pulls away,

“I take that as a yes?” James says mockingly. Regulus playfully slaps James, laughing, and sarcastically says back,

“No actually, that was an act of disgust” James throws his head back, laughing, and kisses Regulus once again. Knowing that he will do whatever to get Regulus away from that hellhole of a home. But now, all he wanted was to spend time with his friend - no, boyfriend - without any worries about their future.
