Everyone knows that Regulus and Sirius didn't have the easiest life growing up at home, when Sirius finally gets the courage to leave Regulus is stuck picking up the pieces of what is left of his family. From early Hogwarts, Regulus has zero intentions of becoming a Death Eater, in fact, he would rather die than face the people that hurt him every day. (Not that his brother is aware but still), so when Regulus sneaks out the first day of Yule Break to the Muggle World it is no wonder he befriends the grouchiest old man he can find.
