Kate’s POV

What’s that beeping sound? Kate opened her eyes and all she could see was white. Oh no, am I dead? She tried to look to the sides and saw Clint there asleep on a chair next to the door. She felt a pressure in her hand and looked at it. All she could see was blonde hair. “Ye…” She tried to talk but her voice was hoarse. Yelena looked up anyway and Kate wanted to cry…She was there with her…and she was hurt too.

“Kate…you are awake” Yelena smiled at her and Kate returned it like a lovesick puppy. “I thought…” Yelena’s hold on her hand tightened.

“I’m ok” Kate said weirdly. She sounded like she had smoked since she was a baby and Yelena smiled.

“You’ve been out for a few days...here” Yelena got up and gave her some water. “Better?” Kate nodded.

“Yeah, thanks” Kate could see that Yelena was limping a bit. “Are you ok? What happened?”

“I’m perfect” Yelena said and Kate arched an eyebrow. “Some bruises here and there”

“And your mom?” Kate asked and Yelena nodded.

“Save and sound with my papa” Kate sighed relieved. She didn’t want anything happening to Yelena’s family because of her. Kate looked at Clint then. “He is out…has been here all the time” Yelena looked at him too. “I arrived yesterday and told him he could go home…but he did not want to leave you”

“He is very stubborn,” Kate said and Yelena nodded. “It wasn’t his fault you know?” Yelena looked at her then. Kate knew part of Yelena would blame him. “Neither of us saw her coming…one second we were talking and the next thing we know she is knocking him out cold and coming for me” Yelena listened in silence. “And I actually wanted to thank you…I guess I’m still alive because of what you taught me” Yelena didn’t smile. “I even hit her twice”

“I am glad our training was useful, Kate Bishop” Yelena said. “And I don’t blame him as much as I blame myself”

“What?” Kate asked in shock. “You weren’t even here, how can it be your fault?”

“Exactly, I wasn’t here…I should have…I promised I’d protect you” Yelena said and Kate could hear the hurt in her voice.

“Yelena…you needed to save your mom…” Kate said and Yelena shook her head no.

“I could have done something else…I…” Yelena looked at Kate’s face. “Kate…I’m gonna end this…no one will ever hurt you again”

“Yelena…I’ve told you…I don’t want you killing for me” Kate said. “Not Jane, not Valentina and not Fisk”

“I’ll decide that” Yelena used her stern voice. “And Valentina won’t be a problem anymore”

“What?” Kate wasn’t sure how to feel about that. Did Yelena really kill her? Probably knowing what Kate was thinking Yelena spoke.

“I did not do it” Kate sighed and looked down. “But trust me, not because I didn’t want to,” Kate gulped. She knew Yelena’s life was different to her own. But Yelena wanted to be better and Kate knew that. “I will let you rest and go back to your house before I do anything” your house? what happened to home?

“But Yelena…we agreed I’d help you with Fisk” Kate saw in Yelena’s eyes that this was something they wouldn’t be discussing. Not now at least so she let it go. Thankfully Clint woke up then.

“Kate! Oh my…kid you’re awake” He moved closer to her bed and hugged her carefully. Kate felt Yelena’s hand leaving hers. “Thank god”

“I’m ok Clint” Kate smiled at him and saw Yelena next to the door. “Where are you going?”

“I have some things I need to do” Yelena said. “I’ll be back tomorrow” Kate didn’t know what to say so she said nothing. “Barton” Yelena said and he nodded.

What the hell? “Yelena?” She looked back at Kate and it was like the last few months hadn’t happened and in front of her was the assassin that came to kill Clint.

“Yes?” She answered.

“...be careful..” Kate wasn’t sure what else to say. She wanted to scream at her not to leave her. Yelena nodded and left.

“Don’t worry…she’ll come around” Clint said. “She was really scared…so was I” Clint took her hand. “I’m really sorry kid…I should’ve..” But Kate stopped him.

“Nothing of that…you and I both know that your hearing is shit” Kate smirked and Clint chuckled.

“Laura and the kids send their love,” Clint said. “I had to stop them because they wanted to come” Kate’s eyes shined with tears. “There’s one more thing, kid…” Kate frowned at him. “Your mom called”

“Oh…is she ok?” Clint nodded.

“The news about what happened to you must have reached her,” Kate nodded. “I spoke to her and explained everything I could without going into much detail” Kate nodded. “She said she’ll try and call you back in a few days”

“Thank you Clint,” Kate said. “How long do I need to stay here?” Clint shrugged.

“Doctor said it depended on how you were feeling” Kate bit her lip. “You need to eat something before they let you go”

“That sucks, I want to go home with Lucky and well…” Clint smiled at that. “What am I going to do? She thinks this is her fault”

“You can’t do much about it…Nat was just like her” Clint gave her a sad smile. “If they have something in their heads…good luck trying to make them change their plans”

“She wanted to kill you and she didn't,” Kate shrugged. “I just don’t want her to risk her life for me”

“Kate…that’s what they do” Kate gulped. She wanted to cry…to scream…she didn’t want Yelena to do any of that. She wanted to have Yelena at home with her, watching a movie and laughing… “Widows are taught not to love, Kate” She sighed. “But, once they’re free and get to love…they do it unconditionally”

“She is…I just…I care so much for her Clint…” He smiled at her again. “It’s so stupid…because she tried to kill you and she kicked my ass but I can’t help it” He nodded.

“I understand kid, I do.” He hugged her carefully so as not to hurt her. “By the way…I think you need to do something about the press?” Kate rolled her eyes and nodded.

“Ugh…fine”

“Lucky, be careful ok?” Kate said as she sat down on her own sofa after 3 more days inside the hospital. He whined and put his head on top of her knees.

“He was scared,” Yelena said and gave her a weak smile. “We all were” Yelena hadn’t talked much to her. Her visits at the hospitals were mostly quick and with not much communication. Clint left once they knew she was going back home. Kate looked at her and patted the space next to her.

“Sit down with me, please?” Yelena sighed and did as she was told. “Can we talk?”

“There is nothing to talk about Kate Bishop” Kate frowned.

“Yes, there is. Stop acting like that…” Kate protested.

“Like what?” Yelena frowned.

“Like I mean nothing to you…Like I’m just one of your missions” Kate could see the hurt look in Yelena’s eyes. “I just…I want my friend back”

“Kate..” Yelena sighed. “We can’t be anything…I’m not good for you”

“YES, YOU ARE” Kate raised her voice. “You’re all the good that I have, except for Lucky”

“What about Clint’s family?” Yelena said in a low voice.

“It’s not the same…they were forced into my life…you came because it was your own choice” At those words, Kate could see the brightness in Yelena’s eyes.

“Even so, I only bring pain, Kate…” Yelena looked down. “And the least I want it’s to cause it to you…”

“But that’s the thing…you keep on saying all those things about you not having choices before” Yelena looked back at her with wide eyes. “And right now you’re taking away my choices from me…because I want you Yelena, I want you here with me and I want you to let me help you help me”

Yelena was silent for a while, she just looked at Kate while Kate bit her tongue not to ramble. And just like that, Yelena moved and she was hugging her. “I’m sorry Kate, I’m sorry” Is she crying? She was indeed crying and holding onto Kate like her life depended on it. “I was so scared…I thought I had lost you…and after Natasha…no…not again”

“Hey, I’m not that easy to kill” Kate tried to joke but she didn’t hear Yelena laughing. “I’m ok” Yelena moved away and looked at her. “Are you ok?”

“Yeah” Yelena nodded. “Mostly healed” Kate raised an eyebrow and Yelene chuckled. “They beat the shit out of me…and I have some fractures but most of them are healing fast”

“What about your leg?” Kate knew it had to be bad for Yelena to be limping the way she was.

“Ugh, those idiots almost break the bone completely but you know, I’m very hard to break” Yelena joked but Kate frowned.

“Will you tell me what happened?” Kate could only hope Yelena opened herself up to her. “I know that you don’t have to but...I would like to know” Kate looked at Yelena’s eyes and saw her doubt, but she took a deep breath and explained everything to her. Kate could see that Yelena was trying her best not to give too many details, and still, Kate wanted to go all the way there and kick their asses.

“I…wow…” Kate said once Yelena finished. “How on earth are you ok?” Yelena shrugged.

“dazhe yesli by ya ne byl, ty tozhe postradal, i eto dlya menya vazhneye (even if I wasn't, you were hurt too, and that's more important to me)” Yelena said and Kate frowned. “I am ok Kate Bishop”

“Yelena…” Kate sighed. She hated and loved when Yelena spoke in Russian. “I’m serious, how are you…and I don’t mean physically” Kate wanted to hold Yelena’s hand but she wasn’t sure it was allowed.

“I’m…I don’t know Kate…That woman…no…that monster…” Kate saw Yelena’s hand making fists. So she didn’t give it much thought and took Yelena’s hands in hers. Yelena looked at her and breathed. “The mere thought of going under subjugation again…I can’t lie and I won’t…I was scared” Kate could tell that she wanted to say something else but she didn’t.

“I think…I would have killed her if she did that to you…” Kate’s words left her mouth before she could really think of them and Yelena looked shocked at her.

“Kate, you are not a killer” Yelena said slowly. “Do you understand me?”

“I do, mostly because right now you’re choosing to speak English but…I don’t know” Kate shrugged. “Sooner or later I might kill someone right?” Kate looked down. “Even by accident…but Yelena, knowing how much you suffered…” Kate looked at Yelena then. There were a lot of things in the blonde face but Kate couldn’t say what exactly. “I wouldn’t hesitate to put an arrow thru her heart”

Kate knew she was saying maybe more than she was supposed to…She didn’t want to scare her away…but she couldn’t help it. She couldn’t lie to Yelena and even if Yelena didn’t want to be with her romantically, she wanted her as her friend, and friends always spoke the truth.

“Kate…I..that won’t happen…she is dead” Yelena said and nodded. “So you are clear”

“Would you think differently of me if I kill someone?” Kate asked.

“What? Of course not, I would still care…for you…but the problem it’s not my thinking…it would be yours” Kate nodded. She knew that…she knew that if she ever killed someone…a part of her wouldn’t be able to handle it…but…killing to protect someone she lo..likes…that’s not that bad, is it?

“I understand…but Yelena…I’m here for you ok?” Yelena gave her a small smile and nodded.

“I know, thank you Kate Bishop. You know I’m here for you too” Kate nodded. “Now…what did Barton say about a party?” Yelena changed the subject.

“Oh…yeah about that…so…my accident” Yelena frowned at the word. “was in the media…and everyone wants to, you know…talk to me…so instead of doing it their way…I’m doing it the Bishop way” Kate said.

“And that’s a party?” Yelena arched her eyebrow.

“Well, yes and no, I mean, yes it is going to be a party but I’m going to use it as a fundraiser too” Kate smiled. She was very happy with the idea of being able to give those assholes money to those who needed it. “We’d give the money to some shelters with animals who really need it”

“That is so..you” Yelena smiled sweetly at her and Kate had to fight the urge of her body to get flustered. “But…what do you mean “we”?”

“Yelena, babe, in case you’ve forgotten…you are my wife” Kate teased a bit and grinned.

“Oh darling, how can I forget that?” Yelena teased back with a low voice that left Kate’s insides shivering and Yelena laughed. “Ok so…what do you need me to do then?”

“Emm..” Kate cleared her throat. “Just…be there with me?” Yelena nodded. “Clint and his family will come too, I hope that’s ok”

“Yeah, no problem. I’ll be on my best behavior and I’ll be your perfect wife” Yelena smiled but it didn’t reach her eyes.

“You know that’s not what I want…” Kate said. “I just want you to have fun and enjoy”

“We’ll see…when is this party?”

“I thought we could have in a month more or less, so I have enough time to recover and well…you too” Yelena nodded.

“Sounds good but I have one condition for this party” Yelena said.

“Ok..?”

“I want to be the one in charge of security,” Kate frowned. “I’m guessing this party will be held in the Bishop's Security building right?” Kate nodded. “Then I’ll take care of it”

“But I want you at the party with me” Kate pouted and Yelena chuckled.

“And I will be…I just need to have…someone else there to have everything under control”

“But…Valentina is dead…and Fisk is in coma…I shouldn’t be in any danger, right?” Kate asked, a bit worried.

“As far as I know…he is still in coma…but Jane is out there…and I don’t want to take any chances” Kate nodded. That sounded fair.

“Ok…then I’ll guess you are in charge of security Mrs Bishop” Yelena smiled at her. “I’ll make some calls tomorrow and get everything started…meanwhile…pizza and a movie?” Kate pouted and Yelena rolled her eyes.

“Fine…but you better order the one I like with the hot toppings” Kate grinned and nodded. Of course she would, she’d do anything for Yelena…and maybe that scared her a little bit. “And no scary movies, those are shit” Kate chuckled and looked at her. Yeah…anything.

One month later.

Kate looked at herself in the mirror, she looked good and she knew it. After a whole month of rehab and getting everything ready for the party she was actually excited for it. She wanted to see Clint and Laura and the kids…and maybe just maybe dance with Yelena. Things have been…ok but maybe a bit weird…Yelena didn’t stay much in the house and when she was there she tried to be as far away from Kate as possible but still she would cook for her, or help her with anything she needed. Kate tried to talk to her about it one day…but Yelena only said that everything was ok.

She took her purple tie and tried to make a perfect knot but it wasn’t working. “Yelena?”

“Yes?” Came her voice from downstairs.

“Can you come?” Kate asked and in a second Yelena was there and looking her up and down. Kate gulped at the sudden attention and saw Yelena holding her breath.

“You look…very good Kate” Yelena smiled. “What do you need?”

“Can you help me with this?” Kate showed Yelena the tie and Yelena got closer to her. She took the tie from her hands and knotted it. Kate was trying her best to hold her breath because Yelena was too close and she could smell her and oh god did she smell good. Once Yelena finished she didn’t let go of the tie and looked up at Kate's face. Oh god help me. Kate could tell that Yelena wanted to say something, she knew that much already…but because of that…she knew she wouldn’t say anything. “Thank you” She said instead.

“You’re welcome” Yelena smiled. “I will be at the party in time so, do not worry” She took a step back.

“I know you will, I’ll be waiting for you” They smiled at each other. “Ok, I should go already and check that everything is going as planned,” Yelena nodded.

“Yeah you do that” Kate smiled and walked down the stairs. “Kate?” She looked up and Yelena was looking down at her. “You really do look great”

“Thank you but I’m sure I won’t be able to compare to you” Kate knows that she is pushing too much…but she cannot hold it anymore, she knows how she feels about Yelena and she is almost sure that Yelena feels something too…but she is trying to hide it. Like right now…she wants to say something back, but she is biting her lip not to do so.

“I will see you later Kate Bishop” Kate nodded and left.

Everything was perfect. She felt a bit proud of herself…this was her first party on her own and it was looking good. She knew people would start coming in half an hour so she decided to go outside for a little air before the party. She went to open the door but someone stopped her hand. “What the…?” She looked and saw a brunette woman there with a huge ass smirk on her face.

“You must be Kate Bishop” Kate’s instincts told her she was not in danger as that voice sounded familiar. “Sorry, where are my manners?” She let go of Kate’s wrist and held her hand. “I’m Sonya, Yelena’s BFF” Oh…OH!

“Hi, oh wow, I didn’t know you were going to be here” Kate grinned and shook Sonya’s hand. “It is really nice to finally put a face to the name”

“Well, I’ve actually seen a lot of you” Sonya smirked. “Yelena forgets that I know her phone’s passwords” She shrugged.

“She has pictures of me?” Kate asked, a bit shocked.

“Of course, maybe too many if you ask me but..you’re her wife after all” Sonya smirked and Kate chuckled. She could tell that Sonya was trouble, but the good kind.

“That I am” Kate smiled. “Is she here already?” Sonya shook her head no.

“She said she'd be here in time for the party but she wanted me to keep an eye on you” Sonya shrugged. “You know how controlling she is” Kate nodded. “I really want to know if she’s like that in every aspect…if you know what I mean” Sonya wiggled her eyebrows and Kate blushed crimson red. She looked around and there were some people there so she had to play it cool…er?

“Sonya…what kind of a lady would I be if I kiss and tell huh?” Kate said, trying her best to be cool about it. And not picturing Yelena in any way… “That would be really disrespectful” Sonya arched her eyebrow and laughed.

“Oh Kate Bishop, you are indeed very funny” Kate rolled her eyes, smiling. What is it with these widows and calling her by her full name?

“Yeah..I’ve been told” Kate chuckled. “So you are our security then?” Sonya shook her head no. “But I thought…”

“I’m your security, the others are taking care of the party and around the building” Kate was left speechless. She knew Yelena wanted to make sure the party went as it should and with no…accidents…but a whole bunch of widows? Maybe that was too much. “Kate…I know what you’re thinking, but…” Sonya sighed. “you almost died…and trust me…she almost died too…” Kate gulped. “The idea of losing you…” Sonya made a face and looked down. “She is going to kill me for this but…she cares about you Kate…a lot more than you think”

“I care for her too…” It was the only thing that Kate could say. She knew her accident was hard on Yelena…but she didn’t think…

“I know” Sonya smiled at her. “You two are idiots, but you’ll figure your shit out at the right time” Sonya shrugged. “Now…better not to leave the party so…go back inside Bishop” Kate nodded, and went back. “And don’t worry, I’ll be around you but you won’t notice me” Sonya winked and Kate chuckled.

After a while people started arriving, some of them gave her smiles but others not so much. She knew these people were jerks but she needed to pretend to like them as much as she could. They were donating money and the press would be around for most of the night, so she had to behave.

“Katie” Kate looked and saw Jack getting closer to her. “It’s so good to see you” He hugged her.

“It’s good to see you too Jack” She smiled.

“Are you ok? for real?” Kate nodded. “Good…I’m really happy to hear that” He grinned at her. “Where’s that beautiful wife of yours?” Kate blushed. After her talk with Sonya she was a bit on edge about the prospect of seeing Yelena.

“Oh…she’s…”

“I’m right here Jack” Yelena appeared next to her, leaving her completely stunned. She looked incredible. “It is really good to see you” Yelena smiled and held onto Kate’s arm.

“Oh wow, you look beautiful Yelena…the both of you” He smiled at them. “What a power couple” Yelena nudged Kate slightly so she could say something.

“Huh? yeah..yeah..we are” She smiled. “Sorry Jack…I just…” Kate looked at Yelena and couldn’t help the smile on her face.

“Ugh young love…” He chuckled. “I let you lovebirds to talk, see you around Katie” Kate nodded but kept looking at Yelena.

“Kate Bishop, it is not polite to stare” Yelena said, but Kate could hear the nervousness of her voice.

“What it’s not polite is not telling you how…breathtaking you look right now” Kate saw the blush on Yelena’s face and high five herself mentally.

“Thank you…you do not look so bad yourself Bishop” Kate smiled.

“Wow…that was just…gross to watch” They both looked back and saw Sonya there. Yelena rolled her eyes and Kate blushed. “Anyway…just wanted you to know that Hawkeye is on the building”

“Of course, I’m right here” Kate said a bit offended and Sonya chuckled.

“I mean, the real one” She grinned and Yelena shushed her.

“She is the real one” Yelena said and turned around. Kate looked at Sonya and saw her arching her eyebrow.

“That’s…thank you…” Yelena shrugged.

“You are my hawkeye” Kate nodded and smiled.

“Kate, sweetheart, how are you?” Laura walked and hugged Kate. “Don’t ever scare us like that again ok?”

“She won’t” Yelena said before Kate could respond. She looked at her and saw the same look she had when she was in the hospital.

“Thank you for coming, guys. Sorry to hear the kids couldn’t come.” Kate said, and Clint hugged her. “You can get any drinks and put them on my tab”

“Thank you kid” Clint smiled and looked at Yelena. “Glad to see you here, Yelena”

“Of course, where else would I be, Barton?” Yelena shrugged. “I’m meant to be next to my wife”

“Ok…so…have fun?” Kate said. She couldn’t understand the dynamics between Yelena and Clint. She thought they were fine but it seems after what happened to her, they were back to square one.

“We will, come on Clint” Laura said.

“glupyy staryy Sokolinyy Glaz (stupid old hawkeye)” Yelena said and Kate decided not to ask.

“Do you maybe wanna dance?” Kate asked, a bit shy. “We don’t have to…like…if you don’t want to or don’t know how to or…I don’t know…prefer to stay and talk…yeah we could talk…or drink…” Yelena put a finger on Kate’s mouth and Kate shushed. She looked at Yelena and she was smiling.

“We can dance Kate Bishop” They moved to where everyone was dancing and Kate stood still in front of Yelena. “You can touch me, Kate” At that, Kate gulped and nodded. She put her hands on Yelena’s waist and Yelena chuckled. “Come here” Yelena put her hands around Kate and pressed herself completely to Kate. They were so close Kate thought they were going to kiss but then Yelena moved her head to the side and whispered to Kate. “We are married Kate…you cannot shy away like this” Kate nodded, Yelena was right…so she held her closer to her and felt Yelena smiling next to her cheek. “That is better but do not dare to touch down the waist…” Yelena threatened but Kate knew it was an empty threat.

“Of course not, I won’t have my wife all over the internet with my hand in her butt” Kate said and Yelena chuckled. They dance for a while and Kate was sure Yelena was having fun, or at least she was until Clint came to them.

“Sorry” He cleared his throat. “May I?” He asked and Kate looked at both of them.

“Sure?” Kate said and looked at Yelena who nodded. Kate didn’t think much about it and gave Yelena a kiss on her cheek before moving away and letting them dance. She walked next to Laura and sat down.

“They’re going to be fine, don’t worry” Laura said and held Kate’s hand. “They just need to talk”

“But…what’s going on?” Kate said and Laura sighed.

“After what happened to you…they both revived one of their worst moments..” Laura looked down. “They were both really scared…we all were but…”

“They thought of Natasha” Kate said and Laura nodded.

“Yelena arrived in record time to New York…you were in surgery when she arrived and the first thing she saw was Clint…on the floor crying” Kate didn’t know this. “Yelena went to him and grabbed him by his collar…she was…Kate she was broken” Kate felt like crying. “She didn’t blame Clint completely” Laura said, rolling her eyes. “But a part of her did, the same part that blamed him for Natasha’s death”

“But it wasn’t his fault…or hers” Laura nodded. “And I’m ok” They looked at them and you could tell they were talking but if Kate had to guess…they’d probably were speaking in Russian.

“I know…but you must know…when you lose someone you care about…it’s hard to trust that they’ll be fine…that nothing bad will happen to them…and even more so…if you couldn’t stop it the first time” Laura smiled sadly at her.

“I just want them to be ok…they’re…important to me and they should be important to each other…” Kate said and Laura smiled. “And I don’t mean because of me…but because you’re Natasha’s family too” Laura nodded.

“I know sweetheart” Kate sighed and looked again at them. She saw Yelena fighting not to smile and she chuckled. “She is as stubborn as her sister, trust me” Laura said, looking at them too.

“Laura…” Kate said, without losing sight of Yelena. “I can’t promise her I’ll be fine…what I do…what we do…I can’t promise her I’ll be ok”

“I know, but what you can do…is promise her you’ll always try to come back to her” Kate looked at Laura then. “Your feelings are screaming at each other but you are not listening” Kate chuckled. “I’m sorry to be a mom, but it’s what I see when I look at the both of you” Laura smiled sweetly at her.

“Thanks Laura” Kate smiled. “You always know what to say”

“But…maybe, don’t do anything like kissing in front of Clint before telling him ok?” Laura said, laughing.

“Deal” Kate laughed with her. “I’m gonna go talk to the press,” Laura nodded. “Please let them know in case they lose sight of me?” Kate chuckled and Laura nodded again. Kate moved around and talked to a few of the reporters that were there. She was charming and she praised Yelena once or twice. She explained that what happened was an accident and she was so much better now.

She then moved to the bar but Sonya appeared next to her. “Come with me” She did as she was told and they both walked to an empty room. “Don’t freak out..but Fisk is here” Every muscle in Kate tensed.

“What do you mean here?” Kate asked.

“He is getting into the building” Kate’s breathing started to quicken. “Hey, hey, easy…this is the plan”

“What plan?”

“Yelena asked us not to tell you before it happened…she didn’t want to scare you” Kate was confused.

“I don’t…Yelena let him be here?” Sonya nodded.

“Listen to me, it’s a very smart plan…you’re surrounded by people and I’m sure he won’t resist the urge to talk to you” Kate listened. “What you need to do is push him a bit…so people can see he wants you gone”

“What on earth are you talking about?” Kate sighed frustrated. “He won’t do anything reckless”

“He will, because he just found out we killed Valentina and that…we know where her wife lives” Kate looked shocked at Sonya. When did all of this happen? What did Yelena do?

“I’m not comfortable with this…” Kate said.

“Kate trust me…or at least, trust Yelena” Kate looked at Sonya and Sonya gave her a small smile. Kate could only nod. She trusted Yelena above everything else. “Ok, so let’s go back to the party”

“Will you be around?” Kate asked and Sonya nodded. “Ok, if something doesn’t go to plan…get Yelena out of here” Sonya looked troubled at the request. “Please Sonya” And then, Sonya nodded.

Kate went back to the party and Yelena’s eyes found her fast. Kate could tell that Yelena knew Sonya had talked to her. Yelena’s face softened and walked as fast as she could to Kate.

“Is it time?” Yelena asked and Kate nodded. “I am sorry I did not tell you before”

“It’s ok…let’s do this” Yelena nodded. “Does Clint know?” Yelena nodded again. “Ok” To her surprise, Yelena took her hand in hers while the doors of the party opened revealing none other than Fisk and who Kate assumed…was his wife. She felt Yelena’s hold tightening around her hand. The room fell silent, everyone there knew the issues between the Bishops and Fisk.

“Katherine Elizabeth Bishop…what a sight for sore eyes” Fisk said and Kate felt all her insides boiling in rage.

Yelena’s POV.

A few weeks earlier.

“You are giving us too much work lately” Sonya complained and Yelena rolled her eyes.

“You can always say no, I am not forcing you to do anything” Yelena said, looking at Fisk’s building. “And I did not ask you to come here with me”

“It was implied” Sonya snickered. “But yeah of course we’ll be there” Yelena smiled and saw Fisk’s wife leaving the house. She took her camera and snapped a few pictures of her. What she didn’t expect was Wilson Fisk following after his wife.

“yebat' (Fuck)” Yelena said and gritted her teeth. This complicated things.

“So…no party?” Sonya said, looking at Fisk too.

“No…Kate wants to do this party and she will have it” Yelena said and nodded to herself. “We just need a few more widows and a plan”

“Sounds good to me” Sonya said. “Have you…you know…talk to Kate?”

“Of course, I talk to her everyday” Yelena frowned and Sonya rolled her eyes.

“Idiot” Sonya chuckled. “I meant…talk to her about your feelings” Yelena sighed. She knew Sonya only wanted the best for her but that was the problem, she was not the best for Kate, even if it killed her…she couldn’t be with her…not when she could hurt her.

“I have not and I will not” Yelena said. “I told you Sonya, it cannot happen”

“You’re just being stubborn now” Yelena saw the car where Fisk and his wife were, leaving and she looked at Sonya. “That girl loves you and you clearly love her too”

“It doesn’t matter Sonya,” Yelena said, a bit frustrated. “And it is because I…because of it that I cannot be with her, don’t you understand?”

“I don’t, because you’re being stupid” Sonya continued.

“I only want her to be happy and safe…I cannot offer her that” Yelena started picking up her things.

“You are a widow…hell, you are the widow…how could she not be safe with you?” Yelena sighed.

“Sonya, I was so close to going back to not being in control…” Yelela felt the sting of the tears in her eyes. “It kills me that I could not protect her that day…but the thought of hurting her myself?” Yelena shook her head no. “That…I wouldn’t be able to live with myself” Sonya took her hand then.

“Yelena…we destroyed everything we found at Val’s laboratory” Yelena nodded. “They can’t hurt us anymore”

“There’s always going to be people like Val out there…if it’s not her…then it would be Fisk or another person with low self esteem and too much money” Yelena said. “We will never be really safe in this world” Yelena gave Sonya a sad smile.

“What a way to kill the mood Yelena…” Sonya teased and Yelena chuckled softly. “I know what you mean, but in the end…she is going to be an avenger…”

“In training wheels” Yelena added and Sonya chuckled.

“Ok, but still an avenger and you know she’ll get hurt…she could even…” Yelena looked fiercely at Sonya and she didn’t finish that sentence. “You see what I mean…so wouldn’t it be safer for her to have her own widow protecting her?” Yelena thought about it for a moment. Of course she knew all of this, of course she hated the idea of Kate ending up like Natasha…but she couldn’t tell her which path to choose. But she could do one thing.

“You are right” Yelena said and Sonya arched her eyebrow.

“Am I? wow…” Yelena stopped her from talking.

“You are going to be her widow at the party” Sonya frowned. “I need to be with her as her wife” Yelena cleared her throat. “So I want you to be the one protecting her at all costs. Be her shadow” Sonya nodded.

“I can do that,” Sonya nodded. “I’ll protect her as if she were one of us,” Yelena nodded and smiled.

“Thank you, really,” Sonya hugged her. She was lucky to have her widows, all of them, but Sonya…she was the best she got from the Red Room. “Now…I think I have a plan…but we can’t say anything to Kate”

“Yelena? Does Kate know you’re here?” Clint said, opening the door to his house. Yelena shook her head no and asked with her hand if she could go inside. “Yeah of course, come in”

“Sorry to come unannounced…but it could not wait” Yelena said and sat down in one of the chairs in the kitchen. It was still early so Laura and the kids were surely asleep. She left Kate a note telling her she was going out to see if she could find the right security for the party. Clint sat down in front of her and offered her a coffee. “Thanks”

“What’s going on? Is Kate ok?” Clint said a bit worried and Yelena nodded.

“Yeah she is, but we have a problem…” Clint listened. “Fisk is awake” At that Clint clenched his fists.

“Are you sure?” Yelena nodded. “Fucking bastard…is Kate safe right now?”

“Yeah, don’t worry…I have Sonya tailing her without her knowing or you know…she’ll get pissed…” Clint nodded. “I came here because I have an idea…and even if you and I…we are not the best of friends…”

“We both care about Kate” Clint finished for her and she nodded. “What’s the plan?”

“You know Kate is having a party,” Clint nodded. “Well, the party is going to be packed with New York’s high society plus…us” Clint chuckled at that. “I want him at the party”

“WHAT?” Clint said, raising his voice.

“Shush or you’ll wake up your whole clan” Yelena said, rolling her eyes.

“Yelena that’s not…that’s the opposite of a plan” Clint said lowering his voice again.

“Listen, he will not do anything in front of those people…he is not stupid” Yelena shrugged. “But if Kate and myself push him a little, he might say some things he will regret later” Clint was quiet looking at her. She knew she got his interest. “My point is…showing those assholes that Kate was telling the truth and that Fisk is the bad guy…that would help a lot and might even help with the whole trying to kill Kate thing”

“I see..but it’s still high risk…what does Kate think?” Clint asked and Yelena stayed quiet. “Because you told her, right?”

“Look, you and I both know that if she knows, she will go crazy” Clint sighed. “I know she deserves to know…but I think right now it’s safer this way”

“Maybe you’re right, but…she needs to know before he appears at the party” Yelena nodded.

“Yeah, I actually have a plan with that too” Yelena nodded to herself. “Sonya is going to be taking care of Kate” Clint nodded. “Of course I’ll be there too…but Sonya is a huge help and once the other widows let Sonya know Fisk is coming…she’ll grab Kate and tell her”

“You know she is going to be pissed right?” Clint said.

“I can handle that,” Yelena shrugged. “I just…I need her to be safe Clint”

“I know…she is special, isn’t she?” Clint said, smiling and Yelena couldn’t help but nod.

“She is something else, yeah” Yelena smiled. “Anyway, I’m counting on you to be there just in case things get messy…so maybe don’t bring the kids?”

“Yeah, ok. But I really hope things don’t get messy, Yelena” Clint said and Yelena nodded. “I understand that you care about her, I do..but I care too” Yelena looked at Clint. “She is my kid too”

Yelena was downstairs while Kate showered. They were getting ready for the party that night but Kate had to be there early. She took this chance to call Debbie, one of her widows.

“Hey, did the package arrive ok?” Yelena asked. She instructed her to leave an envelope with pictures of Fisk’s wife and a note saying: I know where she lives, so why don’t you behave and leave Kate Bishop alone? We don’t want what happened to Valentina to happen to her, right?

Yes, he opened it and he was furious” Yelena nodded. “I’m sure he’ll be there tonight”

“I’m counting on it…keep me posted” Yelena said and hung up when she heard the bathroom door opening. She heard Kate getting ready and got nervous all of a sudden. She knew Kate was a beautiful woman all of the freaking time, but when she decided to look all professional with her suits…it kind of gave Yelena a bit of a heart arrest problem.

“Yelena?” She heard Kate calling her. She took a deep breath and replied.

“Yes?”

“Can you come?” Yelena’s legs moved before she ordered them to. She arrived and saw Kate in front of the mirror looking completely stunning. Wow. Yelena had to hold her breath and tried her best not to say something she’d regret.

“You look…very good Kate” Kate looked at her and Yelena could tell she was nervous too so she smiled. “What do you need?”

“Can you help me with this?” Yelena took the tie from Kate’s hands and put it around her neck. They were too close and Yelena had to use all of her strength to keep her eyes away from Kate’s lips. She didn’t notice Kate’s reaction to her closeness so she knotted the tie but didn’t let go of it. Should I? Just once? She looked up at Kate and she wanted to tell her…to kiss her but… “Thank you,” Kate said and Yelena went back to real life.

“You’re welcome” Yelena said and tried to give Kate a real smile. “I will be at the party in time so, do not worry” Yelena moved away from Kate.

“I know you will, I’ll be waiting for you” This time Yelena did smile for real, how could she not when Kate was looking at her like that?. “Ok, I should go already and check that everything is going as planned,”

“Yeah you do that” Yelena said while Kate walked down the stairs. “Kate?” Yelena called her and Kate looked back up at her again. She looked too good not to say anything at all. “You really do look great”

“Thank you but I’m sure I won’t be able to compare to you” Kate said and everything in Yelena told her to run down to her and press their lips together. She really wanted but she knew she couldn’t so she bit her lip and tried her best to stay glued to the floor.

“I will see you later Kate Bishop” She said and Kate left her alone in the house. Once she heard the door closing she looked at Lucky and sighed. “What am I going to do huh?” Bark. “Yeah, tell me about it”.

She took her time getting ready then, she wanted to look good for the party and obviously for Kate, but her mind didn’t let her go that far. She gave herself a once over and nodded to herself. “I look good”. She took everything she needed, including a few knives strapped to her leg, and went to the party.

“Yelena!” Ana, one of the widows called her from the entrance of the building. “You look incredible” She smiled at her. “Your little archer won’t be able to keep her hands off of you tonight” Yelena chuckled. Oh I wish that was true.

“Thanks, how’s everything going?” Yelena said and looked around.

“All under control, the girls are all around and Sonya is inside with Bishop” Yelena nodded. “You just go inside and enjoy the party” Ana smiled at Yelena. “We have your back” Yelena smiled back then, she was so grateful to have these amazing people by her side.

“Anything, let me know” Ana nodded and Yelena went inside. Once she reached the right floor she stood a little away from the party, she could see how hard Kate had worked to have everything so perfectly decorated.

“Wow, that dress is seriously asking to be on the floor tonight huh?” Sonya appeared next to her and Yelena couldn’t help it and laughed.

“You are so weird” Yelena said. “Aren’t you supposed to be with Kate?”

“No, I have to keep an eye on Kate at all times” Sonya shrugged. “No need to be next to her” Yelena then looked again. How on earth did she miss Kate? She checked and her heart bit faster when she saw her. She looked completely beautiful…she saw Jack getting closer to her and she started walking to her.

“Where’s that beautiful wife of yours?” Jack said and Yelena took this chance to let herself know.

“I’m right here Jack” Yelena said and saw Kate’s little jump. She saw her looking her up and down. Good.. “It is really good to see you” Yelena smiled and held onto Kate’s arm.

“Oh wow, you look beautiful Yelena…the both of you” Jack smiled happily. “What a power couple” Yelena felt Kate’s eyes on her all of the time and gave her a little nudge with her elbow so she could respond to Jack.

“Huh? yeah..yeah..we are” Kate smiled, looking back at Jack. “Sorry Jack…I just…” Kate looked at Yelena again and grinned.

“Ugh young love…” He chuckled. “I let you lovebirds to talk, see you around Katie” Yelena saw Kate’s subtle nod but her eyes couldn’t leave the archer’s face. It was getting ridiculous how much she wanted to kiss Kate again.

“Kate Bishop, it is not polite to stare” Yelena said, trying her best to break the eye contact they were both on.

“What it’s not polite is not telling you how…breathtaking you look right now” Yelena couldn’t help the blush but she still smiled.

“Thank you…you do not look so bad yourself Bishop” Kate smiled at her words and after a while talking to Sonya, who Yelena had to remember to kick in the ass after this, and some small talk with the Barton’s, Kate asked Yelena to dance. She was shy and started rambling as usual. Yelena smiled, she could kiss Kate and stop her rambling..but she wasn’t sure that was a good idea, so she put her finger on her mouth and Kate stopped talking immediately.

“We can dance Kate Bishop” Yelena said with confidence, even though she felt like trembling. They moved to the dance floor and Kate stood still in front of Yelena. “You can touch me, Kate”  Yelena knew Kate was nervous, she could feel the archer’s hands in her waist shaking a bit. “Come here” Yelena put her hands around Kate and pressed herself completely to Kate. It was one of the best feelings she has experienced, having Kate so close to her…She felt a bit bold and whispered into Kate’s ear trying not to touch her with her lips. “We are married Kate…you cannot shy away like this” Yelena felt Kate nodding and after that Kate grabbed her stronger. Yelena grinned and bit her lip. “That is better but do not dare to touch down the waist…” Yelena joked.

“Of course not, I won’t have my wife all over the internet with my hand in her butt” Kate said and Yelena chuckled while her heart skipped a bit like every time she called her her wife. After a while dancing and goofing around, Clint interrupted them.

“Sorry” He cleared his throat. “May I?” He asked and Yelena looked at him.

“Sure?” Kate said and looked at Yelena waiting for a reaction. She nodded to let her know it was ok. She didn’t expect Kate to kiss her cheek before leaving her alone with Barton so she tried to recover as fast as she could.

“ty voobshche umeyesh' tantsevat', starik? (Do you even know how to dance, old man?)” Yelena said and Clint actually chuckled.

“Konechno, ty by videl menya na vypusknom (Of course, you should’ve seen me at prom)” Yelena smiled then. “ona znayet?(does she know?)”

“poka net, Sone prikazano dat' yey znat', kak tol'ko oni yego uvidyat (not yet, Sonya has orders to let her know once they see him around)” She looked briefly at Kate, she was talking to Laura. “Ty rasskazal Lore? (Did you tell Laura?)”

“I didn’t…so if she kicks my butt, you’ll be the one to pay” Yelena tried not to smile but it was hard. Clint wasn’t a bad guy…but she just…when she looked at him, she could see all the time Natasha spent with him and it hurt her.

“You can handle her, I am not messing with Laura” At that Clint laughed out loud. She checked again and saw Laura alone, but before she could freak out she saw Kate talking with the press.

“Yelena…” Clint said and Yelena looked back at him. “Thank you for…well” He cleared his throat and Yelena arched her eyebrow. Was Clint getting sentimental with her? “For being here, with her, with us…I know it’s not easy for you but I think with time…we could all be a big family” Yelena didn’t know what to say. Her hold onto Clint’s shoulders hardened.

“I…I am not family material” She needed to put her walls back up.

“She doesn’t think the same,” Clint said, nodding to where Kate was. “And neither do we” Yelena looked at Kate and sighed. She was screwed, everyone could see the reality inside their marriage. “But…whenever you are at my house…no funny business”

“Gross Barton” Yelena frowned. “I am so not talking to you about sex”

“We are not talking about it…I’m just saying…” But Yelena saw Sonya moving and taking Kate out of the room.

“Shush, it’s happening” Clint shut up and let go of Yelena. “Go talk to Laura” He nodded and Yelena moved closer to where Kate disappeared. She waited and when she saw her she walked as fast as she could without being weird to her.

“Is it time?” Yelena asked and Kate nodded. “I am sorry I did not tell you before” She didn’t want Kate to be upset, but it was the best she could do.

“It’s ok…let’s do this” Yelena nodded. “Does Clint know?” Yelena took a moment and then nodded. “Ok” Yelena took her hand in hers, she needed Kate to feel her right now, or maybe she needed to feel Kate…and then the doors opened and Yelena felt rage thru her whole body. There was the man who wanted to kill her…Kate. She gripped Kate’s hand harder. There was no sound around them, meaning, people were watching.

“Katherine Elizabeth Bishop…what a sight for sore eyes” Fisk said and Yelena felt Kate’s grip tightening too. “I was looking for your mom, guess she didn’t make it to the party” He grinned but his wife looked scared.

“Well, if you stay you might be able to see her once I put you where you deserve” Kate said. Yelena could hear the hate in her voice. He laughed out loud and Yelena wanted to kill him right there.

“Yes yes, I remember you liked to talk out of line” He said. “And what is this?” He looked at Yelena and got closer to them. “You must be the little widow Val told me about” He moved his hand to touch Yelena’s face but Kate grabbed his wrist.

“Do not dare to touch one hair out of her” Kate said and Yelena looked at her. She hadn’t seen Kate like this before. She looked around and saw Sonya with 3 more widows nearby.

“I don’t think you need to protect her, but again, you didn’t protect your mother either” He shrugged and moved a bit away. Yelena knew he was bullshitting. She knew Eleanor was ok, so she squeezed Kate’s hand to try and let her know.

“I’m not protecting her” She growled. “I just don’t want your bloody filthy hands near her”

“My hands? full of blood?” He laughed again. “Her hands are the ones dripping red” He pointed to Yelena. “And now, here” He grabbed his wife by her arm and threw her to the floor in front of them. “Do whatever you want with her” Yelena didn’t expect this to happen…how could he? “Didn’t you want to give her the same treatment as Valentina?” Laura and Clint got closer to them. “Snap her neck, stab her…you can pick”

“You are a monster,” Kate said and when Yelena looked at her she saw tears in her eyes. “You don’t deserve anything good in your life, not even her” Kate moved before Yelena could stop her and grabbed Fisk’s wife by her arm.

“Well, that I didn’t expect…the little hawk doing the dirty work,” Fisk said.

“Katie..” Yelena heard Clint say.

Kate pushed the woman up and Yelena could see the utter terror in the woman’s eyes. She knew Kate wouldn’t do anything…she trusted she wouldn’t…

“Go, grab a taxi and get the hell out of this city” Kate said. “I’m not going to hurt you…but he might” The woman looked confused at Kate. “I will never understand what you saw in…that” She nodded at Fisk. “But no one deserves to be treated like that, so, GO!” She screamed at the end and the woman ran away from there.

“Tzk tzk, you shouldn’t have done that” He looked around and saw everyone looking at him. “I will get you and I will end the Bishop family completely”

“You will not touch her” Yelena said and he looked at her. “Trust me, I will die before I let you do anything to her”

“Then you better get a place next to your sister” He said and left. Yelena could have killed him then. She sure wanted to but she needed to be there for Kate.

“Ok everyone…let’s move ok…nothing to see here” Jack said while Yelena got closer to Kate who was trembling.

“Kate..let’s go somewhere else” Yelena touched Kate’s shoulder and Kate moved away. She won’t lie…it hurt.

“I need to be alone” And with that she left. Yelena looked at Sonya and nodded. She knew Sonya would follow her but gave her the space she needed.

“You two are the biggest idiots in this universe” Laura said. “How could you?”

“Laura…it was a good plan…” Clint said.

“No, it wasn’t…he offered his wife” Laura said annoyed.

“I am sorry Laura, but Clint is mostly right, it was a good plan…now people see the real monster” Yelena said, nodding. “But…the main point of it was to give Kate more safety…and that…that failed”

“Look, I understand…but we cannot even fathom that man’s mind” Laura said. “Now…I’m going to talk to Kate…she needs a mom right now” They both nodded.

“You thought she was going to kill her, didn’t you?” Yelena asked Clint and he sighed.

“I thought she was going to hurt her…yes…I’ve never seen her so angry” Clint said, sitting down and Yelena followed his lead. They could see Jack trying to get everything back to normal. “She was someone else”

“No, she was herself…and yes, she was angry, rightfully so, but Kate knew what she was doing, she was in control of herself” Yelena said a bit in awe of Kate. Not even her, after all her training could control herself that much.

They sat there in silence for a while until both Laura and Kate came back to the party. Yelena got up straight away. “Kate, are you ok?” Kate gave her a small smile and nodded.

“I know this is not the best to say as the host of the party but…can we go home?” Kate said, grabbing Yelena’s hand in hers. Yelena could only nod.

“Yes, of course, anything you want” Anything.

Their ride to the house was in silence, Yelena had confirmed with her widows that Eleanor was indeed safe and she told Kate, but apart from that she wasn’t sure what she should do or say, so she just held her hand all the way until they entered the house. Lucky came running and Kate kneeled to hug him. Yelena let her have her moment and took a look around the house, she didn’t trust Fisk. She checked every room and every window before she came back to Kate. She was still hugging Lucky.

“Kate?” She tried and Kate looked up. “Do you want to talk?” Kate let go of Lucky and got closer to Yelena.

“Can we…not?” Kate said and grabbed Yelena by her waist. Yelena gulped, she wasn’t sure what was happening right now. “I just want you” And then she saw Kate getting closer to her lips and even if that was everything Yelena wanted to happen, she moved and Kate’s lips landed on her cheek. “Seriously?” Kate laughed but it sounded cold.

“I do not think right now it’s the best moment for that…you are clearly hurting” Yelena tried and held onto Kate so she wouldn’t move.

“There’s always going to be something, Yelena” Kate snapped.

“Kate, are you mad at me for not telling you?” Yelena said and Kate frowned at her.

“I was…but I’m not anymore” Kate moved away from Yelena and sat down on the couch. “I can understand why you didn’t tell me…I just…” Yelena sat with her. “I’m mad at myself”

“Why? You did great” Yelena said, honestly.

Kate looked at Yelena and there were tears in Kate’s eyes. “I…I…” Yelena got closer so their thighs were touching and held her hand again. “I almost hurt her…”

“Fisk’s wife?” Yelena asked but she knew the answer. Kate nodded.

“Yes, I wanted to see him suffer and I thought for just a second…what if I…” And then Kate cried and Yelena hugged her.

“Shh moy malen'kiy yastreb (my little hawk), I got you” Yelena held her until Kate’s cries stopped.

“Thank you…and I’m sorry I think I ruined your dress” Kate said moving her head away from Yelena. “And sorry for…you know…before…” Kate blushed. “You were right…I was going to kiss you for the wrong reasons” Yelena sighed and nodded.

“For what it’s worth…I knew you wouldn’t hurt her” Yelena said and smiled. “This” Yelena put her hand on Kate’s chest. “It will not let you hurt innocent people” Kate gave her a small smile. “You, Kate Bishop, as well as my sister, have one of the purest hearts out there, and that’s what makes you special”

Yelena tried her best to look away after what she just said but she couldn’t. Kate’s blue eyes were holding her there. She saw her looking at her lips and before Kate could think much about it, Yelena closed the gap and kissed her. She heard Kate holding her breath and then she kissed her back. The feeling was so much better than the first time they kissed. Yelena moved and ended up on top of Kate without breaking the kiss. Kate moved her hands to Yelena’s thighs and Yelena was finding it a bit difficult to stop, but then she heard it. Someone was getting into the apartment. She pushed Kate as fast as she could to the floor as the gunfire started. Kate was under her and Yelena looked at her, she saw a bit of blood in Kate’s face. It seemed one of the bullets had graced her. They heard Lucky running upstairs.

“Come on boss, I enjoyed our last encounter” Jane said and Yelena growled. She took one of the knives she had on her and threw it to Jane. She saw the knife hitting Jane's wrist and when she dropped her gun Yelena launched herself at her. She kicked her behind her knee and Jane dropped to the floor while Yelena turned around and punched her in the face. “You got yourself a bodyguard, smart girl” Jane said, smiling.

“I’ve been waiting to see you,” Yelena said. “Last time, you did something I’m not going to forgive” They kept fighting and Yelena had to give it to Kate…Jane was a tough one to fight with.

“Poor baby, did I hurt your toy?” Yelena lost her temper and tried to tackle her to the floor, but Jane was quicker and turned the tables. Jane was holding a knife to Yelena’s throat. “You should know not to pick fights you cannot…” And then she screamed. One of Kate’s arrows went through her hand and left her stuck to the floor.

“Maybe you should be the one not messing with Hawkeye and White Widow,” Kate said, appearing with another arrow ready to fly. Yelena arched an eyebrow at her words and took Jane in a headlock. Jane fought but Yelena wasn’t having it and kept her hold until she passed out. “Is she dead?” Kate asked.

“No, she is not…” Yelena dropped Jane to the floor and called Sonya. “Come to Kate’s” She said and hung up. “Do you have some ropes?”

“Oh…let me see” Kate disappeared and Yelena sighed. She should’ve been more careful. She knew Fisk would try something…and instead of protecting her…she…ugh. Kate appeared with a pair of handcuffs. “Sorry…I just…I only have these” Yelena looked at the handcuffs and couldn’t help but laugh. “Hey, don’t think anything weird…I have these because…”

“No need to explain your kinks to me, Kate Bishop” Kate stopped talking and blushed bright red.

“Hey” Sonya said and Kate threw the remote at her. “What the…Bishop!”

“Do not mind her…she likes to do that” Yelena said and nodded to Jane. “I have a package for you”

“I don’t do that…she just scared me” Kate defended herself.

“That was fast…” Sonya said.

“Well…after tonight Fisk was going to make a move” Yelena said and Sonya smirked.

“kazhetsya, vas dvoye (it seems that makes two of you)” Sonya said and Yelena slapped her arm.

“zamolchi (shut up)” Yelena said and Kate looked at them.

“Can we speak English?” Kate pleaded. “I can only say ya lyublyu pitstsu (I love pizza)” Kate said in a very bad accent and Yelena chuckled.

“Are you studying Russian?” Sonya asked surprised and Kate nodded. “Well…look at that…” Sonya nodded in approval.

“What?” Kate asked, confused.

“Anyway…take her with the others and then send her to my mama…maybe she can try to free her” Yelena said. As much as she wanted to kill her she knew that it wasn’t really her fault.

“Ok, I’ll keep you updated” Sonya grabbed Jane and put her over her shoulder. “Oh…and guys…” Both Yelena and Kate looked at her. “You should clean around here” she motioned to her mouth. “You have some lipstick” She winked and left them there.

“So…about that…” Kate said and Yelena raised her hand.

“We…I should not have done that…I am sorry” Yelena said and Kate frowned.

“What? But Yelena…” Kate tried to get closer to her but Yelena moved back. “Are you for real right now?”

“Kate…we…cannot…I am not good for you” Yelena said.

“I think I should be the one deciding what’s good for me or not” Kate said and tried again to get closer. This time Yelena let her and Kate put her hands on Yelena’s arms. “You are good for me”

Yelena shook her head no. “No Kate, I’m not one of your classmates at uni or one of those rich assholes…or even one of your regular friends…” Yelena sighed. “You said it yourself, I am a widow and like it or not…I kill people”

“That’s not who you are” Kate seemed desperate and it broke Yelena. “You are Yelena Belova…you are my friend…and you are the woman who’s come to my life to drive me completely crazy” Kate chuckled and Yelena felt her tears falling down her cheeks.

“I cannot do this Kate…I’m sorry” With that, Kate let go of her and nodded.

“You are not thinking this…but I will not push…do whatever you want” Kate said and walked upstairs to her room with Lucky, leaving her there, alone.
