Chapter 14
“Yes!! I knew I liked you for a reason!” Lily shouted with a little jump, “Finally someone else in this family who sees how brilliant the Harpies are!”
With that Lily reached over to ruffle Harry’s hair and gave him a high five. Harry could feel his face warming at the attention over something as simple as a Quidditch team. One would think he had just given them something amazing. Little did he know simply knowing more about their son was amazing to them.
Several hours later, and many more questions from Mark, there was a small knock on the door before Healer Jensen stuck his head in saying, “I hate to interrupt all of the fun but I need to run one more diagnostic on Mr. Potter here before I can officially give him the all clear.”
“You mean I won’t have to stay here anymore?” Harry asked beginning to feel a little nervous. Where would he go? Would James and Lily still want him around if it meant him living with them? Sure they seemed to be glad that he was there now but would that last? He didn’t have anywhere that he could go here he supposed he could always beg Sirius to let him stay with him but honestly he didn’t even know this Sirius.
Interrupting Harry’s spiraling thoughts Healer Jensen said, “As long as nothing shows up on my scan and you promise to stay calm then you should be good to go in the morning, we will still have to finish all of the paperwork to release you.” Looking towards James and Lily he asked, “Ready for the spell?”
“Are you okay with everyone being here? Or do you want some privacy?” Lily asked Harry
Feeling the true amount of care that was behind that one statement Harry felt his cheeks warm with a blush as he answered, “No, they are fine everyone here is family.”
With the confirmation that all was good Healer Jensen began the diagnostic spell, this time choosing to only do the version of the spell for current ailments instead of the more complicated version that was able to tell the full health history. By the time he completed the resulting parchment was significantly shorter than the last time with the only listings being a minor headache and sore muscles. With this good news he turned to Harry saying, “Congratulations, you passed I will tell them to begin on your paperwork and I hope not to see you for a while after tomorrow morning. Deal?”
“Deal!!” James, Lily, and Harry all chorused
“Oh also there is a woman outside named Milly Brown that wanted to speak with you all is it okay for me to let her in?”
James and Lily held a significant look before nodding their agreement. Seeing the confused faces of many in the room Lily hastily whispered as Healer Jensen closed the door, “She is the Head of the Department of Mysteries.”
Harry sat up straighter as Milly walked in the door wanting to appear as presentable as possible, obviously this was a very important lady.
With a nod to James and Lily Milly’s eyes fell on Harry, “Hello Harry it is nice to see you awake. I had a couple questions for you and a favor to ask of you all if you feel up to it.”
“Its good to be awake, and sure I suppose so.” Harry responded cautiously.
“Okay, so you said before that you jumped through the veil after the Sirius of your world fell through is that correct?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“Could you tell me what happened to the Sirius of your world after You Know Who fell for the first time?”
Harry looked over to the Sirius of this world with concern at his reassuring nod he decided that he had to answer or else it would look worse so he slowly began, “Um, well he was mistakenly convicted of betraying my parents and was sentenced to life in Azkaban until he broke out two years ago.” Cautiously looking around he saw the horror dawning across everyone’s faces James had once again begun raking his hands through his hair.
“Okay, thank you very much Harry that was extremely important for us to confirm a previous story we have heard you see a few more people have come out of the veil but we needed to confirm that what they were saying was true as their counterparts are alive in this universe so the heredity spell could not be used reliably.”
At that Harry jerked forward in the bed with a bit of a wild look in his eyes as he desperately asked, “who is it? Where are they? Are they okay?”
Milly hoping to calm him responded, “they said their names were Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Sirius Black.”
