Truck-Kun has struck again! One moment, I was strolling across the street, minding my own business; the next, I was staring at the blinding headlights of an oncoming truck. There wasn’t even time to scream before the impact. And now? Now I was floating aimlessly in an endless black void.

It was… odd, to say the least. No pain. No body. Just me and the oppressive silence.

Ding!

The sound reverberated through the void, followed by a disembodied voice.

[Player, you have been chosen to correct the dark path of another world, saving it from destruction!]

“Okay…” I murmured, the surrealness of the situation leaving me more confused than panicked. “Sure. Sounds like a job for a random dead pedestrian.”

[You have been chosen to take the place of the Inquisitor in Dragon Age! You will appear three months before the Conclave!]

Dragon Age? Dragon Age?! My stomach twisted. Of all the fictional worlds out there, why this one? Sure, it was epic, but it was also dangerous as hell. On the bright side, I’d have time to train and level up before the chaos began. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad?

[Generating race…Generating…Generating… Race Selected: Half-Elf (D&D Variant)!]

“Half-Elf, huh? Could be worse.” My gaming instincts kicked in. Half-Elves had decent racial traits, especially if the system was blending Dragon Age with D&D mechanics. This might actually work in my favor.

[Due to the difficulty of your tasks, you will receive additional stat points, perk points, and any ten boons! Say ‘Status Menu’ to begin customization.]

Well, at least this mysterious voice understood the concept of difficulty scaling. “Status Menu!” I said with more enthusiasm than I probably should’ve.

The void shifted, and a glowing panel materialized in front of me.

With my perks selected, the system chimed again.

[Player may now customize their appearance!]

“Alright,” I muttered, pulling up the customization screen. This was my chance to make an impression, and I wasn’t going to waste it. Every detail mattered—after all, appearances were part of the game, and if I was going to stand out in a world like Dragon Age, I needed to look the part.

First, height. I slid the scale up to 7’0”. I’ll stand a head above everyone but the Qunari and Avvar. The extra height will also give me some reach advantages, which is nice. Next, I turned my attention to my hair. I envisioned long, thick locks as black as midnight, with auburn highlights that glinted subtly in the sunlight—like autumn leaves catching fire. I styled it in an elegant yet practical long braid, intricately woven to keep it out of my way in a fight but still striking enough to turn heads. My eyes came next. They had to be memorable. I selected a warm, deep amber hue that radiated a quiet intensity. They were the kind of eyes that could glow with fierce determination or soften with compassion, capable of captivating allies and unsettling enemies alike. As for my facial features, I gave myself sharp cheekbones and a delicately angular jawline, hinting at elven refinement without losing the grounded sturdiness of my human side. My ears were slightly pointed, a subtle but unmistakable nod to my elven ancestry. I adjusted my skin tone to a warm, sun-kissed bronze, a complexion that spoke of time spent outdoors, likely training or traveling. Finally, the pièce de résistance: a tattoo. I chose an intricate design of the Tree of Life, its roots sprawling across my lower back and its branches extending upward toward my shoulder blades. Each line was delicate yet strong, with tiny, leaf-like patterns woven into the branches.

Stepping back to review my choices, I was satisfied.

[Please select the appearance of your were-creature form!]

Alright, time to get creative. If I was going to be a werewolf, I wanted to make sure I looked as intimidating as possible while still retaining some elegance.

First, the size. The transformation would add an impressive 2 feet to my base height, making me tower at a massive 9 feet in werewolf form. My frame would bulk up significantly, muscles rippling beneath my fur, giving me the appearance of a predator born for strength and speed. As for the fur, I imagined a thick, luxurious coat for maximum impact. The fur would be deep black, absorbing light and adding to the otherworldly menace. It would be slightly thinner on the forearms, calves, and stomach, allowing the underlying musculature to be more visible—perfect for striking fear into my enemies. My head would take on the classic wolf-like shape, with pronounced ears that twitched at the slightest sound and a powerful jaw lined with razor-sharp teeth. My eyes? Eerie glowing yellow, like twin embers burning in the darkness. They would seem almost hypnotic, drawing attention before unleashing the feral fury of a true predator. Claws would extend from my hands and feet, long, sharp, and deadly, capable of shredding through armor with ease. All in all, my werewolf form would be a terrifying blend of raw power, primal elegance, and supernatural menace—a perfect reflection of my beastly nature. I nodded in approval, grinning.

Not bad, Rowan. Not bad at all.

[Player may now request ten boons. The more specific the request, the better the result!]

Ten boons? Oh, now this was interesting. After some careful thought, I finalized my choices:

Boons:

1. A warded travel pack containing:

• 1 durable, weatherproof tent

• 1 sleeping bag

• A 6-month personal hygiene kit

• 10 waterproof journals

• A high-quality writing set

After all, I’ll need to hide my inventory.

2. Two Valyrian steel longswords with wolf head pommels.

Practical. They’ll stay sharp and rust free. I’ll name them Sharpfang and Bitterbite.

3. An unbreakable staff made of weirwood, phoenix tail feather core, and capped with a Valyrian steel spearhead.

Honestly, the weirwood is just for aesthetics. I’ll name it Emberthorn.

4. Max-level Enchanting skill.

5. Max-level Warding skill.

6. Max-level Alchemy skill.

7. Max-level Restoration Magic.

8. Max-level Smallholding

Yeah, I’m definitely pretending I lived in the middle of nowhere, away from people.

9. Max-level Blacksmithing.

10. Max-level Woodworking.

[Due to the enchanting and warding skills, Player may choose 5 runic languages!]

I quickly pick my 5 languages and then take one last look at my status menu.
