- at the beginning of the fic Tsukishima and Yamaguchi are dating. canon backstory but they only started dating like a few months before the fic starts
- for whatever reason, their relationship isn't working romantically. like it's not toxic or anything, they still like each other as friends. and maybe even romantically, but they just aren't working as a couple
= hinata and kageyama each like a separate one (so it will be tsukihina and yamakage OR it will be kagetsuki and yamahina (idk ship names but hopefully you get the idea). so kagehina are just best friends, no hidden romantic feelings, and they don't romantically like the same person.
- kagehina never told whichever one they like that they like them because they know tsukiyama are dating.
- no cheating please, though you can have one of them (hinata or kageyama or both) think whichever one they like cheated when they've actually broken up
- so basically for whatever reason your endgame ship (not tsukiyama or kagehina) become friends and tsukishima and yamaguchi fall in love with them (whichever one likes them, preferably this won't be poly).
