one of my fave tropes
- Pick a ship from one of the tagged/mentioned fandoms. this can be your favorite ship, a rare ship, a ship you've never written but wanted to, anything
- it can be monogamous or poly but I'd recommend no more than 2 or 3 characters
- if 2 characters, one of them is pining, while the other thinks they're dating. Other characters also think they're dating. Basically, everyone knows they're dating except the one that's pining.
- if poly, there are 2 ways I could see this working
- 2 of the characters are already dating, and the pining person knows they're dating but doesn't realize the relationship also includes the pining person. this could include a scene where one of the 2 who is known to be dating kisses the pining person and the pining person feels guilty and tells the other member of the couple only to be informed the couple thought all 3 of them were dating.
- or the same as the 2 people dating thing but 2 of them know the three of them are dating, and the other thinks all 3 of them are just friends.
- I feel like I overcomplicated this so let me clear it up just in case.
- option 1 - the pining person thinks they're just friends with the couple, and the couple thinks all 3 of them are dating
- option 2 - pining person thinks all 3 of them are just friends, the other 2 think they're all dating.
- If you have your own ideas and ways of writing this, feel free to do so, the recommended options are just how I hypothetically would write it
- preferably ends with someone outside the ship informing the pining person they're dating the person they've been pining after and the pining person asking the other ship members
- fluff, humor, and light angst may be included
- if you do a poly ship, feel free to include confusion because they're pining for multiple people, as well as potential guilt if one of them flirts with the pining person.
- I said a minimum of 2 or 3, but if you want the ship to have more than 3 people and can figure out how to make it work, feel free.
- honestly, I just want more fics where one member of the ship doesn't realize they've been dating the other
- you can add smut if you want
- feel free to make the pining person think they're just friends with benefits
- But yeah I really like this trope? storyline? IDK what you'd consider it
