you know that bisexuality is a thing? (the party, part 1)

“Ephie gets cuter every single day.” Hermione said, walking into Harry’s room. He still hadn’t cleaned up from Draco spending the night, so the room was a bit of a mess.

“How was your sleepover, H? Sexy?” Ron said, plopping down on the small couch in Harry’s room. Harry shushed him and walked over to close his door.

“Hey could we maybe not say that shit when my mom and dad can hear? They would be so annoying if they knew I liked Draco.” Harry said, joining Ron on the couch. Hermione laughed.

“You’re dumb if you think Lily doesn’t already know. I mean you get your obliviousness from James… but Lily for sure knows.” Hermione said, walking into Harry’s closet and starting to pull things out.

“Then why would she have let Draco sleep in here?” Ron asked.

“Because she trusts Harry.” Hermione said as if that were obvious. After about 20 minutes Hermione had laid out 4 different outfits on Harry’s bed.

“Do I have to try all of these on?” Harry asked, standing up with a sigh.

“Yep, chop chop!” Hermione said, taking Harry’s spot on the couch. Harry rolled his eyes but began the mini fashion show for his friends. After he tried them all on, Hermione made him try on the first two again and she finally settled on outfit number two— a green shortsleeved sweater with his ripped jeans.

“I’m truly amazing.” Hermione said, looking through Harry’s small jewelry collection. “I’m like a wizard or something.” The boys laughed.

“Aren’t girl wizards called witches? You’d be a witch.” Harry said. Hermione turned with a gold necklace in her hand and smiled.

“So true, H. I’m a witch then. Here.” She handed him the necklace and he put it on, and took a look in his full body mirror. Truthfully… he was pretty glad that Hermione had forced her way over here because he looked… good. And there was no way he would have ever chosen this outfit for himself. He never even thought about wearing a sweater vest as a top on it’s own but it looked cool.

“I hate to admit this but… thank you for coming over.” He said, hugging her. Hermione looked cute too, she was in a sundress that had pink and red flowers all over it. Ron looked nice too with jeans and a purple top. Hermione smiled and hugged him back.

“Any time, H.” She said. After they talked for a bit longer, it was time for Harry to leave to pick Draco up. Hermione and Ron said bye to his parents, and to Harry— saying they’d see him in a few.

“You look so nice, Harry.” His mom said, kissing him on the cheek. Harry smiled and shrugged.

“Hermione worked some magic.” Harry said, grabbing his car keys.

“Any reason you wanted to get so dressed up?” His dad asked, a glint in his eyes. Harry raised his eyebrows and smiled.

“Hermione and Ron were dressed up too!” Harry said, feeling a tad bit defensive. James and Lily both laughed.

“Yes, but in the past you’ve always worn… at most, your nice pair of sweats to this party. Any reason you decided to dress up a little more tonight? Perhaps… someone you like is going to be there?” Lily said, smirking a bit. Once again, he was glad about his darker complexion, because otherwise his blush would be insanely apparent— like Draco’s when he blushes. He is so cute when he blushes.

“Um. No. I just… Hermione needed something to do. So if you don’t mind, mother and father, I am going to go get Draco. Who… I told, I told him that I would pick him up and I don’t want to be late.” He practically ran out the door as he heard his parents yelling goodbyes as he was leaving.

He saw Harry’s name come up at the top of his phone.

harry🦖

Hey there, I’m here. I would come up and knock on the door but there aren’t any parking spots open!!!
on my way down :)

Draco locked his phone and grabbed his apartment keys. He took one last look in the bathroom mirror and nodded. He looked good. He wasn’t trying to be conceited or anything… but he did.He was wearing a lace black top, a little bit see through, but not fully, and flow-y pink pants. He locked the door behind him and saw Harry’s car. When he opened the door he was greeted with a huge smile.

“Hey… you look really… you look… amazing.” Harry said, eyes practically drilling a hole into his head. Draco slid in the passenger seat and willing his blush away.

“Thanks. I… you do… I like your outfit. You—you look really nice.” Harry smiled and put the car in drive.

“You’re sweet. You want the aux? We can listen to whatever music you like.” Draco grabbed the aux from Harry as they began the drive to Dean’s party. He played a mix of songs from Taylor Swift, to Harry Styles, to One Direction… Harry sang along to all of them… so if Draco wasn’t already head over heels well… he’d sure be on the way now. Harry really did look amazing in his outfit. The green brought out his eyes and the sweater vest… showed off his… arms— his amazingly toned arms… the jeans were ripped right above the knees. He just looked really good. The next song he played was “You’re the one that I want” from Grease… which might’ve been a little bit on the nose, but oh well. Harry knew the words to that too.

“I love Grease!” He said, singing along. Draco smiled and bit his lower lip.

“That’s the musical for next year. I’m excited, it’s one of my favorites. I… I didn’t except you to like musicals or know them at all really.” Harry laughed.

“What, cause I play football I can’t like musicals?” He asked teasingly. Draco shrugged. Embarrassingly enough, that was kind of what he thought… which was a dumb stereotype. Maybe he just assumed since he and his friends were pretty much gay stereotypes to a T… that Harry would be a typical quarterback… but he kept surprising Draco. “It’s honestly how me and Lavender became friends. I had a button on my backpack for Dear Evan Hansen in the fifth grade, because I was obsessed with it. She noticed it and we immediately bonded over that.” Draco smiled.

“That’s sweet. I like Lavender a lot. She’s always been very kind to me.”

“You say that like it’s an accomplishment, of course people should be kind to you!”

“Yeah but… not everyone is… unfortunately.” Harry frowned and furrowed his brow.

“Who’s mean to you?” He asked, seriously. “Is it… is it people on the football team? God Theo is such a dunce. He was so mean to Dean and Seamus when they came out, almost got kicked off the team. I wish he had.” Draco’s eyes widened. He didn’t realize Dean and Seamus were together… but Theo was an ass, Draco definitely had to agree. He wanted to change the subject though, he didn’t want to feel anxious.

“You should audition for Grease next year. It probably wouldn’t interfere with football.” Harry barked a laugh.

“No way. I may like musicals but I am no good at singing.” Draco had to disagree because he thought that Harry sounded great when he was singing along in the car.

“You could be Danny. You definitely look the part.” Harry laughed again, a bright and breathy sound… Draco was finding it impossible to not love everything about him.

“Then who would you be? You deserve to be a lead, not some guy just waltzing in.” Draco blushed and smiled.

“I can’t imagine myself as Danny, I’d definitely have to buff up a bit.”

“I can help you.” Draco smiled and realized that he’d pretty much do anything if Harry was there.

———

Harry pulled into Dean’s driveway, there were a few cars there, but not nearly everyone who Dean invited. The invite list got bigger and bigger each year. Dean was just a really nice guy so everyone liked him and he was friends with everyone. When they started doing this bonfire night in sixth grade it was just Dean, Ron, Seamus, Hermione, Lavender and Harry. They hadn’t even met Luna or Parvati yet. It’s crazy to think about how long he’s actually known most of his friends. Hell, he and Ron had practically grown up together. Ginny didn’t start hanging out with them until last year though. Her and Ron had gotten closer since she got to high school. He got out of the car and walked over to try and beat Draco to opening the door, he did.

“Sir.” Harry said, extravagantly, bowing his head a bit. Draco laughed and hopped out.

“What a gentleman.” He said with a cute smile. Harry closed the door behind him. He recognized Ron’s car and Luna’s and Seamus’ but he didn’t know if anyone had driven with them. Harry just walked in and saw Dean’s twin sister, Anna, sitting on the couch.

“Anna. Hey!” Harry said, walking over to hug her. Anna smiled and stood up to hug him.

“Harry, it’s so good to see you.” They pulled away and Harry looked at Draco with a smile.

“This is Anna, Dean’s twin sister.” Draco smiled and nodded.

“I got all the good genes, obviously. Harry, introduce me to your handsome friend.” She said with a smile. Draco blushed at that and Harry truly wish he had a camera that followed them around so he could always capture these moments when Draco looked so beautiful.

“This is my— Draco. This is Draco.” He was about to say, friend, but that didn’t feel right… calling Draco his friend. But of course now he’d just introduced him as his Draco… he could already see the smirk on Anna’s face. Harry and Anna had actually dated for a bit in freshman year of high school. There was no bad blood between them at all actually, they remained pretty close, they just realized they weren’t really right for each other.

Your Draco, huh?” Anna said. Harry gave her a look and she laughed, returning her attention back to what they’d been watching.

“He’s… I… you’re not joining the party?” Harry asked her, trying to desperately change the subject. She smiled and nodded.

“I am. Just wanna finish this episode. I’ll be down in a bit. It was really nice to officially meet you, Draco. I’d seen you around! I saw you in the musical last year.” Draco smiled and Harry could tell it was a genuine one, he just always seemed so genuine.

“Yeah I’d seen you around too. I think we had a class together sophomore year.” Anna smiled and nodded. Harry led Draco downstairs where he assumed his friends probably were. For some reason he was a bit nervous. Not that his friends wouldn’t like Draco, he knew they would, but it felt so much like a date…ish thing even though it wasn’t.

“Dean’s sister is really sweet.” Draco said, following Harry down the steps. Harry nodded.

“Yeah, she is.” They got the bottom and turned the corner to see Dean, Seamus, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Ginny, Parvati and Lavender. He didn’t think everyone was there yet, but they must’ve carpooled.

“Harry!” Seamus said running up to him. He could tell that he’d already been drinking a bit. He laughed and hugged him back.

“Hey buddy, couple drinks in already?” Seamus smiled and held up his beer.

“Draco, it’s so nice to officially meet you, it’s basically a crime we haven’t met yet! You’ve been at school for two years now! Harry talks about you constantly, so I’ve got a good idea about you. I mean constantly, he never shuts up about—.” Harry pushed Seamus a bit and he heard his friends laughing.

“Ok Seamus! Thanks, great.” The two of them joined the group, they were sitting on the couch that was around the big table.

“So, Draco! Are any of your friends coming?” Lavender asked, kindly. Draco nodded.

“Yeah, my three best friends. You’d know them, they do theatre too.” Lavender smiled and Harry thanked god for Lavender because he could already tell that Draco felt comfortable.

“Pansy, Blaise and Neville?” Draco smiled and nodded.

“Yeah, I kind of only have three friends so it’s easy to remember.” His friends laughed and Hermione spoke.

“Well, now you’ve got a lot more.”

“Want a drink?” Harry asked him. Draco shrugged.

“I—I dunno. What’s there?” Harry smiled.

“Everything, honestly. What’s your favorite drink? Dean’s parents don’t mind us drinking as long as no one drives home. But, you don’t have to worry about that because I’m your DD.” Draco blushed a bit.

“You don’t have to not drink at your friends party for me.” Harry stood up and shook his head.

“Course I do!” He said, smiling. “Now, c’mon, your favorite drink please.”

“Vodka mixed with whatever.” He said, the light blush still on his cheeks. Harry nodded.

“One vodka mixed with whatever coming up.” His friends weren’t really listening to them, all having their own conversations, but a few chuckled. He walked over to the bar in Dean’s basement and grabbed the vodka there, looking around for what to mix it with. He saw sprite, which was probably the safest option. Lavender walked up next to him, making her own.

“You liiiiiike him.” She said, grabbing the vodka from where Harry put I down. Harry turned away, hiding his smile from her.

“Shut up.” He said as she nudged him. “I… you already knew that.”

“Yeah but it’s not just a little crush is it? You like… really like him.” Harry looked over to where Draco was, sitting with his friends, laughing and blending in with them perfectly… and, yeah… he really liked Draco— like a lot.

“I… he’s just so… he’s like sunshine or something. I swear he’s the nicest person I’ve ever met and he’s so good with Ephie. He’s just…” Harry realized he’d been babbling a bit and looked to see Lavender with a huge grin on her face.

“He likes you too.” She said matter-of-factly. Harry raised his eyebrows.

“You have barley seen us together, how can you tell?”

“The everlasting blush he’s had on his face she you guys walked in… the way he looks at you. Don’t screw it up, H.” Harry finished making Draco’s drink and brought it over to him.

“Thanks.” Draco said with a smile. “My friends are here, I’m going to go let them in.”

“No, sit down, enjoy your drink! I’ll go up and show them the way.” Draco nodded and took a sip of the vodka sprite Harry had made him. Harry walked upstairs, Anna was still watching her show and he opened the door to find three people he sort of recognized.

“Pansy, Neville and Blaise!” They nodded and Harry noticed that they were all very attractive. I mean, Harry had seen them at school before, and he knew they did theatre, but he’d never seen them in going out clothes. Pansy was wearing a short black skirt with a red crop top, along with black boots. Blaise was almost the complete opposite, wearing long khaki colored pants and a pastel blue shirt and Neville was wearing jeans and a pink cropped sweater.

“Harry Potter.” Pansy said, walking trough the door, the two boys following her.

“That’s me.” He said. “I like your guys’ outfits. It’s always fun to see people outside of school, you all look very nice.” Blaise smirked a bit and nodded.

“Well, we know that. But it’s always nice to be reminded. Even if you’re just saying that to get in good with us.” Harry raised his eyebrows and smiled, with a small laugh escaping.

“I wouldn’t say something that wasn’t true. Even if I really want you all to like me.” They all shared a look together, which made sense because Harry basically just confessed to liking Draco to his three best friends. “The group is downstairs, that’s Anna, Dean’s twin. She’ll join us in a bit.” They all said hi to her and then followed Harry downstairs.

———

Once Pansy, Blaise and Neville got there Draco felt so much less anxiety. Harry’s friends were all very nice, but he couldn’t help but feel like they all could tell how much Draco liked Harry within seconds of meeting him.

“Harry is so into you, I never want to hear you lie again.” Pansy said into his ear. The three of them had made drinks right when they got here, and more and more people were arriving, standing around in Dean’s basement making conversation. There were a few games going on but Draco was never really any good at drinking games. He and his friends had only really gone to a few other parties, and definitely never with the popular kids. This group of popular people is just… so unlike anything he imagine, they were nice and funny and there was an obvious reason as to why they were popular… they were well-liked.

“I… shush.” Draco said back to her. “I just… it’s confusing. I don’t think he’s gay.”

“You know that bisexuality is a thing? Or Pansexuality? Or like… sexuality is a spectrum? Just cause you’re a raging homo doesn’t mean that every not straight person is as gay as you.” Draco laughed and rolled his eyes. That was a very good point, but Draco just didn’t want to get his hopes up. If Harry were openly gay or bi or had even mentioned anything like that, Draco would assume he was into him. He offered to drive him, he complimented his looks… he’s been pretty flirty. But… what if this is just how he is? He’s been pretty friendly with everyone here. Draco just couldn’t afford to get his hopes up because his crush on Harry was walking a tightrope between a crush and being completely head over heels for him.

“Hey.” Harry said, walking over to him. He was still drinking a water and Draco was just so touched that he offered to DD… just to spend time with him.

“Harold! We were just talking about you.” Pansy said with a mischievous look on her face.

“Oh, were ya now?” Harry said, matching Pansy’s face while Draco’s got an unfortunate pink tint. Curse his white, white skin. “What about me?”

“Well, really we were talking about all kinds of people. And then we were talking about sexuality and then we were talking about how unfortunate it must be to be straight. I cannot even imagine. What about you, Harold?” Pansy was good… too good. Harry laughed and kept the smirk that formed on his lips.

“First of all, my full name isn’t Harold.” He said, causing Pansy to shrug. Draco was sure that Pansy would call him that forever anyway. “Second of all, I wouldn’t know a thing about it.” Pansy smiled wide.

“A thing about what?”

“About being straight. But it does seem rather unfortunate, doesn’t it?” Pansy patted Harry’s shoulder.

“It does indeed. Well, I’m sure Blaise and Nev are up to no good, better be off.” And she strolled away, Harry was facing Draco so he couldn’t see when Pansy turned around and did a wink and hair flip.

“So you were wondering if I was straight, huh?” Harry said, smiling. “I’m offended! Do I give off straight vibes?” Draco chuckled and shook his head.

“You give off a weird mix… so I didn’t know for sure.” He said, cheeks bright pink by now.

“I’m bisexual. But I guess all my obvious flirting went right over your head then, huh?” Draco felt shocked that Harry was admitting that and then looked up into his eyes.

“It wasn’t. I just… I didn’t know if you were one of those people who just flirt with everyone.” Harry nodded and was quiet for a few moments.

“I’m not.” He said finally.

“Not?”

“I’m not one of those people who just flirt with everyone. I mean, I’m nice to everyone— or well, I’d like to think I am. Anyways,” Harry grabbed Draco’s free hand, the one without a drink in it, “I was however flirting with you.” Draco didn’t know where this directness was coming from but he really appreciated it.

“I… oh.” He said, dumbly. Harry chuckled and squeezed his hand a bit.

“Oh?”

“I was… too. I mean, flirting. You. With you, I mean.” He wanted to cover his face with his hands from embarrassment but they were both occupied at the moment and he was not going to let go of Harry’s hand.

“You know, you’re very cute when you blush.” Harry said, which of course didn’t help Draco’s pink face.

“Oh, so you’re doing it on purpose then?”

“It’s not my fault, everything seems to do it. But I’m definitely not complaining.” Harry said with a smile. “Wanna play a game with my friends? I’m, of course, using water but I think they’re playing never have I ever… which can be a dangerous game. It should be fun though.” Draco thought for a moment, it could definitely be a dangerous game, but he also knew that he would get to sit close to Harry and maybe learn even more things about him.

“I’m in.” Harry’s smile was bright, Draco thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world.
