One More Moment (Charlie Weasley X Reader)

Graduation was fast approaching. Yet despite the excitement about it, Charlie found himself not wanting to go. For seven years he'd spent most of the year with you, he didn't want that to change, after all you were his best friend, the only person whom he attended dances and celebrations with. The person who joined the Quidditch team with him, the one who'd gone on to break the curse of the vaults dotted around the school grounds. Saying goodbye to those times was going to be difficult. How could it not be? The two of you had done so much together, yet when the end of term came you'd be parted from him.

After the holidays he was off to start his life in Romanian as a Magizoologist at the Dragon Sanctuary you'd both visited with Bill. Where as you'd be off to the Aura's office at the Ministry to start you training along with Tonks. The pair of you sharing the dream of continuing on the legacy. While putting your metamorphic abilities to good use. After all Moody had been watching over you since your sixth year, making sure you were as safe as possible while going after the cursed vaults. Especially with Rakepick around. It was obvious to anyone who knew Moody, he had taken a rare shine to you, the compliments he gave you regarding your stills and the advice he gave suggesting he was prepping you for your future as an Aura. Much like Hagrid did for Charlie with all the magical creatures, books and conversations, the odd bit of advice thrown into.

At this moment, Charlie and (Y/N) sat under the tree near the late. Finding the quietness comforting as you watched a few third year students attempting to tickle the giant squid's tentacles. The soft breeze a nice balance to the blistering heat from the sun shinning down on the school grounds. Hagrid's hut could be seen, where as Hagrid himself seemed to be feeding the many animals in his care. A Care of Magical Creature's lesson taking place not to far from the hut, Nifflers seeming to be the topic, even more so when the little creatures could be seen zipping off when no one seemed to be paying them little attention.

"What's up with you? Don't tell me the Nose Biting Tea Cup got you again" spoke (Y/N), your long (H/C) blowing in the breeze, on the odd occasion blowing across your face and obstructing your view of the second Weasley brother. Charlie could only offer a grin, knowing he'd never live that down, especially when he'd walked right into it even when he had known about it. Fred and George laughing no end with Percy saying it was against school rules to have such a thing in the tower.

"Just thinking" responded Charlie, quickly getting the reply of That's dangerous from (Y/N), a hint of sarcasm on your lips as you spoke, accompanied by your signature grin, the one which had become a staple of Charlie's school life. It was a wonder how you hadn't scared Ben to death with your many pranks and tricks during the first years at Hogwarts. "I was thinking about how different things are going to be after the summer. As crazy as it seems I don't want things to change, I've grown used to see your mischievous grin every day" added the redhead, remembering when he'd fallen for you, although he'd yet to actually tell you. Bill asked him about it every time they sent letters, Percy on the other hand did the opposite, often times trying to dissuade him from such a relationship. Fred throwing his comment in. Often saying his Charlie doesn't ask then he will, saying the Weasley's needed another mischievous one in the family. All of them knew you were the perfect one. After all you were practically a member of the Weasley Clan. Having grown up with them and staying there during the first Wizarding War.

"I'll send you a picture" spoke (Y/N) in response. Seeing how Charlie offered you a grin in response. Clearly finding your comment funny, even if he didn't know if you were joking or not. "I'll miss you too, you big dragon loving idiot" (Y/N) added, turning serious for a moment although still keeping light. You would miss Charlie, who else was going to fill your mind with dragon facts, or go along with you sarcasm and jokes. "If you don't write every week I'm gonna come to Romania and kick your ass" you quickly finish, ensuring he knew what would happen, should he not write to you. You'd said a similar to thing to Bill when he graduated, even now two years late he still writes when he's away from home, occasionally he visits.

"I'll hold you to that" commented Charlie, his smile getting bigger. Especially when he began to remember how the pair of you had met Ben and Rowan under this very tree. "You know I think I might just test that second bit out. Will be nice to have you in Romania with me" added the second Weasley, a playful ring in his voice, his blue eyes sparkling as yours often did. Yet his mind soon drifted to the unanswered what if questions. What if he'd asked (Y/N) on a date as an actual couple rather than just friends? What if all those dances were as couple? What if he asked (Y/N) to go to Romania with him? Or to just be with him? He knew what he wanted yet even now, he couldn't find a way to ask without running the risk of losing you as a friend, without losing the life long friendship he'd known.

"What about that wish McGonagall was on about? What would you wish for?" asked Morgan, her voice soft and even as it always was during the down moments, something Charlie often found comfort in. You were there for him, whenever he needed someone, all he had to do was ask. Yet the one thing he truly wanted he never found the confidence to ask for it. For a few seconds Charlie looked ahead, as if thinking, he knew everyone would think his answer would have something to do with dragons, just as he knew everyone would be wrong for assuming it. Yet he also knew what (Y/N)'s would be. To bring Rowan back, or at least change what happened to her. Even now you still blamed yourself for what happened to her.

"One more moment with you" responded Charlie, offering his winning smile when you turned around, the sun glaring at the pair of them, as if willing them to finally give into each other. "I was afraid to tell you before. Like an idiot I've been keeping you waiting. I'm just curious when you worked it out?" asked Charlie, showing he was well aware you had long since worked out his crush on you, yet hadn't mentioned it, instead allowing him the time he needed, even if he had made you wait years, even when his own jealousy welled up on several occasions.

"The date with Diego" replied (Y/N) revealing which of the many dates it had been. Talbott and Jae barely got a reaction out of Charlie, yet for some reason Diego did, even now you had yet to work out why. Yet the date in question had been in the fourth year, just as you could recall being annoyed at the redhead, although he never gave you as reason for such a reaction, you'd worked it out during a Quidditch match against Hufflepuff. Without a second thought Charlie pushed himself forward, ensuring his he was in a seated position before leaning towards you. Everyone knew you two were close hence why no one batted an eyelid not even Merula did. Yet time seemed to stand still upon your lips meeting his, the act alone taking you by surprise. Especially when you were so sure he was going to whisper something to you. Even when he turned your chin to face him in a gentle grip.

"Sorry I took so long" whispered Charlie, hearing you chuckle never failed to bring a smile to his lips. Only this time it felt different, as if he'd had a weight lifted from his shoulders.
