“At some point, you’re going to have to leave,” Regulus muttered, humming contentedly as James ran his fingers through his hair. He felt James shrug and pull him closer to his chest.
“I know,” James said softly. “I just don’t want to. Unless you want me to leave.”
Regulus shook his head immediately, moving to look up at James. His eyes trailed across James’ tanned skin, the caramel tone contrasting against his own fair skin. He smiled softly, taking James’ larger hand in his and pressing a soft kiss onto his palm.
“I don’t want you to leave.” Regulus responded. James smiled back at him, leaning forward to kiss Regulus’ forehead gently.
He liked how careful James was with him. All his life, he’d been touched like he was property; by his parents, partners, family, even some friends. But James touched him like he was made of glass, like he was fragile and precious and he didn’t want to break him. Feather light touches, gentle, yet firm enough that Regulus knew James didn’t see him as a delicate flower that could shatter with even the slightest touch.
He hoped, one day, he would be able to show James how much that meant to him.
“Are you hungry?” James asked.
Regulus thought for a moment, before nodding. “Yeah. Takeaway, or do you want to make something?”
James hummed for a moment before gently grabbing Regulus’ hand, kissing his knuckles softly. “Takeaway. I don’t want to get out of bed.”

Regulus sighed, quickly throwing James’ discarded hoodie from the night before over his frame. He stood up from his spot on the couch, pressing the ‘answer’ button on his screen.
“Finally, he answers!” Pandora exclaimed. He rolled his eyes, walking to his kitchen and leaning his phone up against his spice rack.
“Whatever,” He said, opening his fridge to desperately search for food. Since he started taking testosterone, his hunger has been insane; even though he’d just eaten with James two hours prior, he was already hungry again.
Dorcas suddenly joined the call. “So, hot stuff, tell us all about your date,” She said.
“He took me to Alton Towers,” Regulus responded. “Got me a shirt and a little stuffed deer.”
“…and?” Pandora pressed. Regulus stood up straight, looking back towards the camera.
“Oh my god, do you have a hickey?” Dorcas suddenly exclaimed. Regulus furrowed his brow, leaning closer to his phone to look at himself. “Oh, fuck,” He said, cheeks burning bright red.
Pandora and Dorcas fell into a fit of laughter, their phones falling respectively. Regulus groaned, leaning against the counter and covering his face with his hands. “Oh my god. I’m never living this down.”
“No, you’re not,” Dorcas said through laughter. “So? Did you shag or did he just attack your neck?”
“They definitely shagged,” Pandora said, wiping her eyes.
He groaned and rose from his hunched over position. “Yes, clearly we shagged. Can we stop discussing the details of my sex life for fucks sake?” Regulus begged, grabbing a bag of crisps from his pantry. “Besides, we haven’t heard about Marlene in a while, Dorcas.”
It was Dorcas’ turn to flush. “That’s because not much has happened.”
Pandora huffed. “Seriously? You two shagged and what, you haven’t spoken since?”
“No, we’ve talked. We just…haven’t done anything since.” Dorcas said.
Regulus hummed, eating some of his crisps. “Does she have a partner?”
Dorcas shrugged. “I don’t think so.”
“What if we go out to the Hog’s Head again soon?” Pandora suggested. “You can talk to her there. It might be easier if you do it in person.”
“Pandora makes a good point,” Regulus mentioned. “We could invite everyone in the group chat, too.”
“And Peter! I miss him,” Pandora said.
“What if she doesn’t want to talk to me, though? Like, what if the reason she hasn’t talked about what happened is because it was, like…a one and done thing.” Dorcas said quietly.
Regulus and Pandora were quiet for a few moments. “Well,” Regulus said softly. “If that’s the truth, then…well, I don’t know. But, from what James has talked to me about, Marlene doesn’t seem like the kind of person to do anything like that. For all we know, she could be just as anxious as you about the whole thing.”
Dorcas was silent.
“And even if she’s not, it would still be a smart idea to talk to her. Just, outright ask about it,” Pandora continued, while Regulus continued to eat his crisps. “It’s scary. But it’s the fair thing to do for both of you.”
A beat of silence passed, before a huff came from Dorcas. “You’re right.”
“Thank you,” Pandora and Regulus said at the same time, making all three of them laugh.
“Marlene’s in the group chat, yeah?” Pandora asked.
Both Regulus and Dorcas nodded. “Yeah, Lily added them when she added Sirius in.” Regulus said.
Pandora hummed, fidgeting with the crystal pendant around her neck. “Well, we’ll figure out when we can go to Hog’s Head again later. For now, let’s do something else. Is anyone free today?”
“I am,” Regulus said. “You both wanna come over and chill?”
“I have a client at 2 and then I’m free after that, so I’ll be over then.” Dorcas said.
“I’ll head over now,” Pandora said.
The three said their goodbyes before leaving the call, and Regulus went to examine just how many hickeys James had given him the night prior.
