use Protego Diabolica to differentiate friend from foe
stick his horcruxes in less obvious places
not make an animal (or recognizable items) into horcruxes
have anyone at all come to Hogwarts/Hogsmeade under disguise and throw a portkey at Harry. If using polyjuice, it would be a convenient method of taking down the child of a political opponent/an inconvenient teacher
have the cave defense not murder intruders, but rather trap them for later interrogations/ use as polyjuice material
let some other dark lord deal with the stupid goddamn prophecy since it gave neither names nor a place or a specific timeframe. For all he knows, it’s about a war 5000 year in the future taking place in Antarctica
