Chapter 3
|| I never thought that such a harmless round would destroy me completely||
Fred P.O.V
Y/N and I had agreed to meet at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade the next weekend that we would be able to go to, I didn’t know if I really wanted to do this, I mean she’s a Slytherin a snake.
I doubt that she would be any fun at all.
She was one of the smartest students in my year, she was the top of the class, the captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team, Prefect probably going to be head girl. Not my particular choice of girls to date or crush on.
I walked into the three broomsticks and walked around to find where she was sitting, Y/N was towards the back in a seat beside the fireplace a quidditch book propped up as she read through it.
When I sat down she looked up lazily, almost disinterested, like I wasn’t good enough to be in her presence, just the arrogance that every single Slytherin that I have had the displeasure of meeting.
“Hey there Y/L/N,” I said, resting my head on my hands. Her e/c eyes met mine and nearly narrowed at me, her face was flushed with heat from the fire behind her.
She wore a soft light green sweater, such a contrast from the uniform she always wore.
“Weasley,” She said cautiously.
“How's that book?” I asked, trying to think of a way to start a conversation.
“What? Quidditch through the Ages? It’s good, have you read it before?” She asked me, closing it before sliding it across the table to me.
“No, no I haven’t,” I answered. “I’m not much of a reader…”
“You play Quidditch and you’ve never bothered to read this? I thought surely Wood would have made you all read it.”
“You knew Wood?” I asked her, I knew they vaguely knew one another but they surely weren’t the best of friends. I assumed that because they were on different sides and houses that they wouldn’t bother with one another.
“Yeah, he was cool, actually we wrote letters back and forth over the summer, he got onto the Puddlemere team did you know that?” She asked excitedly, almost as if she liked Oliver.
“Yeah actually, I did know that,” I raised an eyebrow at her.
“Really? I kinda miss Wood, he was a good opponent, even if Flint was a complete ass towards him,” she rolled her eyes.
“I thought you Slytherins were supposed to like-I dunno- hate Gryffindors,” I said out loud not really thinking about it.
“That's a bit prejudiced, wouldn’t you agree?” She said in an undertone of disappointment.
“I suppose, but can you blame me when a majority of your house are wankers?”
“If a majority of my house are wankers then…why’d you ask me to accompany you to the ball? Are you really that desperate?” Y/N waved her hand behind me and Madam Rosemerta came clacking over in her high heels.
“What can I get you two?” She asked.
“I’d like a butterbeer and perhaps a plate of sweet rolls?” Y/N ordered. “And whatever Fred wants.”
“I’ll have the same,” I answered my eyes, never leaving Y/Ns as she glared at me, when Madam Rosemerta turned away and left to get what we wanted.
“If we’re here to get to know each other perhaps we should start with the basics?” I suggested folding my arms onto the table.
“Like what?” She asked me.
“Whats your favorite color?”
To my surprise she burst out laughing. “My favorite color?”
“Thats what I said,” I smiled.
“Alright, green, like new growth on a plant like a fresh leave on a willow tree or new grass, what about you?” Her answer surprised me, sure her sweater should have given that away but I’d picture her liking more of a dark green.
“Orange,” I said simply.
“What kind of orange?” She asked me tilting her head slightly.
“Like…sunset orange,” I said. “You know, if you stay in the Astronomy tower until the sunsets then thats the perfect orange, and the perfect view.”
“Really? I’ve never really stayed up there long enough to see the sunset, usually its just when we have astronomy,” She admits dully.
“Let me take you up there tonight,” I suggest.
“I don't know…”
“Oh c’mon, it’ll be fun, I promise,” I reached across the table, taking her hand in mine, a way to reassure her almost, perhaps this will be one of the first steps to causing this girl to fall in love with me, if she says yes…then…those thirty galleons are mine.
A soft smile bloomed across Y/Ns lips and she nodded slightly.
“Okay fine,” She said.
Perfect, everythings going according to plan.
Y/N P.O.V
I raced through the corridor with Fred, we had agreed to race back to the castle in order to make it just before the sunset, already the sky was beginning to slightly darken.
We laughed as we pushed through the crowds to get towards the Astronomy tower, I glanced around and saw a bunch of Fred's friends standing with his brother on the side of the hallway near the Gryffindor tower painting.
They gave us a second look as we ran past them.
Freds hand in mine he dragged me up the steps as fast as he could to the top of the astronomy tower where we stood at the edge of the tower hands on the railing our hands still intertwined as we watched the sunset fade into the distance.
He was right, it was a perfect orange…and a perfect view.
“Wow…” I murmured.
“You like it?” He asked me innocently.
“More than anything…”
