The Better Marauders’ Children’s Society (And Auror Training Center)
Summary
After leaving Hogwarts, Remus and Sirius make it one year until their relationship crashes and burns. In June 1981, they are the only two Order members pulled from field missions. The Order of the Phoenix is falling apart from the lack of childcare, Dumbledore and McGonagall have two unemployed graduates in mind, and Remus and Sirius despise the idea.Until they don’t. Because how can they really hate each other when there are six kids running around expecting them to get along?***Molly turned around, and Sirius worried that if she smiled any more her face really might split. “I always say, the best way to strengthen a relationship is just to have a bunch of kids and raise them together.”Sirius’ eye twitched and he could feel Remus beside him actively trying to avoid eye contact. “Thanks for the advice, Molly,” Remus said weakly.

Sirius

The kids jumped at the chance to write letters to Remus. They split up and sat in different corners of the Potters’ house, hyper fixated on correct spelling and perfect penmanship.

Sirius felt like a dictionary, calling out spellings to Missy and Percy while simultaneously trying to copy Fred and George’s words onto two separate sheets of paper.

By the end of the day, they had created a thick stack of get well soon cards tied together with a piece of twine. Percy warned Sirius not to look at his letter, but there was no pinky promise, so Sirius allowed himself to snoop just a little.

Deer Moony,

Come back. I know you are sick but you should come back. I get headaches like you, remember? They are hard to get thrugh but I always do. I hope you feel better to come back tomorrow. You can visit my house and let me know if you are okay before you go with Padfoot, if you want.

We have been playing Qwiditch. Padfoot likes it. My brothers like it, too (Fred and George, not Ron). Missy is really good.

But it is hard to know the rules and I am not a good runner. Padfoot said they usually play up in the air, but we can’t fly so we run on the ground.

A lady came who said we can call her Auntie Marls. She was very nice but she wanted me to play and I did not want to. Every time I hit the qwaful, she yelled AMAZING. Then Harry’s dad came and said I could take a break if I wanted.

When you come back we need to read more of the Beatle and the Bard book. I can read it on my own but I’ll wait for you.

Sensirely, Percy.

Deer Moony,

I’ve written letters before and my mum says to always start it “Dear so and so.” But Padfoot says it’s spelled “Deer.” I don’t know if that’s right because sometimes Padfoot tricks people on purpose. He thinks I don’t notice but I do.

I am having SO MUCH FUN. I hope you are feeling better. And all. Sorry.

But I AM HAVING SO MUCH FUN!!

At first, I was a little scared of Padfoot because I don’t know anyone who has drawings on their skin like that. But he is nice enough.

He showed me his motorbike. It was broken because he hit something driving to work yesterday, but I think we fixed it. My clothes got all dirty so when Harry’s mum got here she brought me a dress that used to be hers when she was little.

It’s funny because it has LILYS on it and that is HER NAME.

Harry’s mum and dad stop by a lot when you are not here because they don’t think Padfoot can look after us by himself. They are fun but you are better.

Percy is all sad but I told him you will probably be back in a few days. If you have a cold, drink lots of tea. If you are throwing up, eat toast but not with butter on it. If you have the flu, you should probably see a doctor.

I’m really good at Kuiddtch. I’ll show you when you get back.

Love, MISSY DORCAS VANCE.

Fred and George’s letters were written in Sirius’ handwriting, accompanied by shaky drawings of the moon (which Sirius secretly thought was hilarious).

MOONY,

I’M NOT ZAPPING MY BROTHER.

- FRED

TO MOONY,

AWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

- GEORGE

Sirius sat at the kitchen table for an hour after everyone had gone, drafting a letter of his own in his mind.

He only got as far as writing I’m sorry before crumpling the paper and throwing it away. So he wrote: R- Harry and Ron say they miss you, too. They didn’t want to be left out. -S.
