What did you do?

Prologue:

‘Did you or did you not tell Snivellus my secret’ murmured Remus, his right hand fisting the other boy’s white shirt and his left, in mid air, ready to throw a punch.

‘I-’ stuttered Sirius, his wide eyed were filled with tears. He had a sad, almost remorseful, expression painted on his face.
Remus twisted his fist harder, beams of sweat glistening on his forehead due to the burning rage he was feeling inside his guts. His wild brown eyes were looking directly in Sirius’ grey ones.
‘I am not going to repeat myself Sirius, answer me !' he yelled, startling Peter who was sitting on his bed. It wasn’t unusual for the two of them to fight, but Peter has never seen Remus this angry. Remus never called Sirius by his real name, it was always Padfoot, Pads or Paddy. That’s what shocked Peter the most.

‘Maybe you should let him go Remus, we are friends, we can talk about stuff without hitting each other’ said Peter with an ounce of panic in his voice, while trying to lower Remus’ hand.
‘Answer me!’ Remus’ face was really close to Sirius’ one. The latter was paler than usual, looking a little green in Peter’s eyes.
The door burst open, revealing James with his quidditch gears on.
‘Wow wow wow what’s going on here?’

‘Ask this bastard’ Remus’ accent really came out on the last word. Peter was trying desperately to separate them but Remus didn't want to let go. Sirius was silent, way too silent. It was out of character from him, he was usually so talkative and confident. If you told James, one hour ago, that the Sirius he knew to be arrogant, proud and incorrigible was the same person as this fragile and pale looking creature right in front of him he would’ve laugh.
‘Yes’ Sirius’ voice was strained, like he was holding tears back. The room went cold, the tension thick in the air. Peter and James stood still, in confusion, waiting for Remus to say something.
Remus was shaking with anger, his whole being turned vermillon.
‘Yes, I did but you have to listen, I didn’t want to , he forc-’

The dull sound of a closed fist hitting a face pierced the air. Sirius fell to the ground, blood leaking out of his nose and mouth, covering his white button down and the carpet underneath them.
James broke out of his freezing state to grab Remus.
‘Moony, you can’t hit him like that… He is your best mate’
‘You are no longer my friend’ Remus spit.
Sirius’ heart broke, a cold numbing feeling spread in his chest. He wanted to say so much and yet not a word came out of his bruised and painful mouth.

‘Don’t say that, don’t-’
Remus interrupted Peter with a loud shout.
‘He told Snivellus that I am a werewolf’
A loud gasp fell out of Peter’s mouth.

James furrowed his brows, he couldn’t believe Remus right now. Sirius couldn’t have told Snape that.

Sirius couldn’t be a traitor!

They were practically brothers. But yet, Sirius looked guilty, his eyes were fixated on the ground, his usual smirk no where in sight. Anger was rushing underneath James’ skin.

‘No, you didn’t, did you’ Peter was tripping over his own words, pity filling his voice and confusion spiralling in his brain.
‘I did and I am so sorry but he forced me I-’
‘Shut up’ shouted James ‘Shut up shut up shut up’
Sirius’ eyes filled with tears, spilling on his rosy cheeks.
‘You betrayed Remus, you betrayed us… You are no longer part of the Marauders’
‘You can’t… no please… Prongs… Wormtail...Mo-Moony… I’
‘Don’t call us that ever again’ James was unrecognisable.

Sirius was left alone in the cold dorm, shaking, crying, he felt sick. Sick of what he was forced to do.
He launched himself into the bathroom, vomited in the toilet and stayed there for few hours. When he felt like his knees weren’t going to give out, he splashed his face with cold water and stood in front of the mirror.

His reflection was pale.

He didn’t recognize himself.

The whiteness of his skin created a contrast with his red angry broken nose and his busted lips.

‘I deserved this’ thought the dark haired boy ‘I deserved to be punch in the face, I deserved to not be loved…’

Sirius did the unforgivable. He broke their trust. He destroyed the marauders.
