Goodbye Mystic Falls
Leilani begrudgingly got out of bed, having to crawl over Damon. Lei wanted this meeting to go off without any hiccups, so she was going to apparate home and bring back Pansy. The two who were enemies at one point put their differences aside for the betterment of the Wizarding World. When Lei took her seats on the Wizengamot, she had witnessed Pansy Parkinson take her family seats after her father’s imprisonment. Pansy knew her way around the political scene, more than Lei did that’s for sure.
“Where are you going, love?” Klaus groggily asked. Leilani turned to him, “I’m going to pop back home and grab Pansy. She’s more of a politician than I am.” Damon snorted as he stretched and sat up. Both of them decided to get up as well. Leilani hugged and kissed them both before apparating to her foyer, “Winky.” “You called Mistress?” Winky appeared next to Lei. “Yes, can you inform Pansy I need to speak to her? Thank you,” Lei smiled and moved into the sitting room.
“What do you want, Potter?” Pansy got straight to the point. Leilani smiled at her bluntness, “There’s a meeting with the factions and you know me. I can’t stand politics. So, I was wondering if you wanted to come sit with us and add your two knuts?” Pansy rolled her eyes, “Fine, I’m bored anyways. Nothing has happened yet, and everyone is on edge.” Leilani almost forgot about Esther, “Yeah, we’ll deal with them soon.” The two witches apparated to New Orleans leaving the others to keep an eye out for Esther and the council.
Soon Lei and Pansy arrive at the Plantation House in time to leave with Damon and Klaus for the meeting. The human faction consists of Father Kerian, the Sheriff, and the Mayor of New Orleans standing off to the side of the room where the meeting was designated. Marcel, Diego, and Thierry represented the vampires. Josephine LaRue and Agnes were representing the witches. But there were no representatives for the werewolves since they were cursed and banned from the city.
Marcel had noticed Klaus and the others walk in, “Klaus.” “Marcellus,” Klaus moves to stand by Marcel. Damon, Lei, and Pansy stay close and observe. Father Kerian starts the meeting, “I understand this meeting was called by Marcel. There has been a new development which concerns all of us.” Marcel cleared his throat, “Last night we learned there is a different type of magic wielder amongst us and they would like to join the factions.” Of course, this was news to everyone including Leilani, and Pansy, but they could use it to their advantage if they’re going to live in New Orleans.
Agnes was not thrilled to say the least. She felt the magic these witches wielded and felt threatened by it. They would not be welcomed by her or her coven. Josephine was intrigued. More magic users meant more power for the witches. She did not know Leilani and her family were more than friendly with vampires, so the power she craved would be out of reach.
Pansy and Leilani caught on to both witches quickly. Both women did not show any sign of emotion and looked very intimidating. This surprised Damon and Klaus. They have not seen this side of Lei. Pansy, yes, but not Lei. Wanting to get this meeting over with, Lei spoke, “We will agree to this on our terms. For the sake of our kind, to guarantee their safety and wellbeing. This way things will go smoothly. Otherwise, we will not be responsible for the aftermath when we resolve a matter by our means.”
The Sheriff angrily stood from his chair, “What is that supposed to mean?! You can’t just come in here and make demands!!” Pansy calm but cold voice stopped his ranting, “But we can. We have the ability to ensure the safety of our kind and those we care for. Do you really want to test our limits when we merely want to coexist? This meeting was initially called to discuss matters that pertains to the influx of accidental magic. Mainly in children who come from families who don’t have magic in their lineage and can be subjected to abuse or neglect. We are here to discuss a plan of what should take place for these children.
“From what I understand, one such child is already in our custody as of last night due to her father being unfit. Who knows how many others there are? So, sit down sir and let us continue.” Marcel would not admit it but he was incredibly turned on by this fierce witch. The Sheriff reluctantly sat down while glaring at Pansy, but she paid him no mind. The discussion was pretty heated but by the end they all came to an agreement. Marcel would be entrusted with his copy of the monitoring book, and upon any blue entries he’d call Josephine and Father Kerian as mediators. They would investigate the home; if it was deemed unsafe, the child would be removed by the Sheriff and placed into Marcel’s temporary custody. Permanent residence would be found after the child’s safety has been ensured.
As they were leaving the meeting, Marcel stopped Klaus, “Are you moving back for good?” He was holding back what he really wanted to ask. Klaus smirked, “You’re asking if I plan on taking my city back from you?” Marcel grew agitated that Klaus still knew him so well. “The answer is no. By all accounts, the city of New Orleans still belongs to the Mikaelsons since you are a Mikaelson. Always will be, Marcellus,” Niklaus walked away from a stunned Marcel. Of course, he didn’t reveal that he planned on overseeing everything by hovering over Marcel’s shoulders so to speak. Klaus was going to let Marcel keep his title of King while Klaus is the Emperor. Because New Orleans is the Mikaelsons’ Empire.
Bill had spent the day getting little Cynthia settled back at the house. He had decided he was going to stay in Mystic Falls with Minerva and the orphan children. If need be, they could open a new Floo network for quick travel. After losing Fleur, he was in no rush to be in a relationship. So, helping raise these children and the occasional curse breaking seemed ideal.
Once everyone was back in Mystic Falls the atmosphere seemed tense. Like the town itself knew there was a battle about to happen. Esther had drained Elena of all her blood, leaving the girl's lifeless body in the center of one of her various salt circles. She had done a ritual to enhance herself since she lost the connection to the Bennett bloodline. Esther had contacted the ancestors that morning and learned they were being reaped and sent into the afterlife or onto peace. It was now or never. She had to destroy her children and these new witches that threaten their world.
Carol and the council were gearing up inside the mayor’s home when Tyler walks in. He was going to try and reason with his mother one last time, “Mom, don’t fight them. They don’t want to fight.” Carol wasn’t hearing it, “Tyler, enough! Those people have corrupted you. After this is all over, we can find a way to cure you, and everything will go back to normal.” Tyler scoffed, “Are you listening to yourself? I’m a werewolf. There is no cure for that. I was born a werewolf, even though I haven’t triggered it yet. I’m not normal either, Mother. I came here hoping to talk some sense into you but I see it was a waste of my time. Goodbye, mom.” Tyler rushes out of the house before Carol could do or say anything else.
Tyler was greeted by Damon’s Camaro pulling up the driveway. He waited for everyone to exit the car, “I spoke with my mom. They’ve lost their minds and are trigger happy. I saw the council cleaning their guns like they’re going to war. I didn’t see Esther though, but I know she hasn’t left my mom’s house since yesterday.” “I say we surround the place and smoke them out. Get them out of the way before they have the chance to call in reinforcements,” Damon suggested. Lei nodded, “That’s one way to do it. Then immobilize them and obliviate. We would only have to worry about Esther.”
“My mother will not be an easy opponent. She has had a thousand years to stew and plan,” Klaus moved to stand next to Lei. The group moved to go inside the house to plan with the others, hoping this battle can happen without casualties besides Esther. “I can just blow her up. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve done it,” Lei says a little too cheerfully. Hermione sighs, “You blew your aunt up like a balloon and she floated out the window.” Kol tried speaking while laughing, “She did not.” Lei grinned, “I did.”
After further planning, it was decided Finn, Minerva, Bill, Charlie, and Narcissa were going to stay inside the house to guard the children. While the rest were fighting the council, Carol, and Esther. Well, Carol isn’t going to be fighting, just hiding in her house armed with her late husband’s revolver in case anyone gets near her. She is an important figure in this town, she can’t be seen fighting like some riff-raff.
Before leaving the house to confront Esther and the council, they had scanned the map. “Over 20 people, almost all human. Only one witch. She’s either cocky or has a trick up her sleeve,” Leilani shakes her head. Kol is the first to comment, “More than one trick, I’m sure.” “Alright, so expect them to be armed and aiming to kill. While we don’t want that, we will if we have to. I’d rather subdue and obliviate. Especially since this home is still going to be occupied by Minerva, Bill, and the children,” Leilani unsheathes her wand.
The rest follow her example. Finn, Minerva, Bill, Charlie, and Narcissa locked and warded the home after everyone else walked outside. Since they were literally going next door, they could see some of the people shifting around carrying assault rifles that are probably illegal to carry in public. Leilani did not have a good feeling about this, “I don’t like this. Something is telling me to not engage at all.”
“They’re only human, darling. We can take them,” Kol tried to reassure Leilani. The Mistress of Death shook her head, “No, we’re missing something.” She crouched and picked up some of the bigger rocks from the gravel driveway they were standing on and transfigured them into dogs. Lei gave the now yapping mutts an order, “Run to that house.” The herd of mutts kicked up dirt and small pebbles as they took off. That’s when it was revealed that the council lined the property closer to the house with tripwire explosives.
Hermione, Severus, Sirius, and Rodolphus transfigured more rocks into animals to make sure the property was clear of all tripwires before they marched closer. Klaus being Klaus decided to call his mother out, “Mother! Let’s end this!!” “Niklaus, calm yourself brother. You mustn't lose your head,” Elijah tried to keep Klaus from doing something erratic. Kol just picks up a rock and shatters a window, disregarding both brothers.
That’s when the men with firearms start shooting at them all. Soon, more of the armed men rushed outside to join the fight. Leilani shot the first spell, an arrow shooting spell, followed by a Bombarda. Others copied her while also trying to avoid hitting the vampires as they attacked the gunmen.
Damon had spotted Bill Forbes inside the house hiding behind the front door and firing his gun. He also caught a glimpse of the Sheriff, “The Sheriff and Bill are hiding inside!” He yells loud enough for Leilani to hear over the gun fire. She remembers that she hasn’t repaid the Sheriff for shooting her, “Finestra!” The spell sent a massive shock wave shattering all of the glass in the house. Every window, every knick-knack, every vase, and chandelier. One of which shorted out and fell from the ceiling, nearly crushing two people.
One by one, the gunmen were subdued. A few wand-wielders were shot but nothing fatal. Carol still hadn’t shown her face. You would think she wasn’t even here if her name was clearly shown on the map. The woman was probably going to try and talk her way out of this, but that will be of no use. Carol will be obliviated and her memories altered of all supernaturals.
Bill finally stepped out of the house only to get his heart ripped out by Damon. He kept his cold, hard eyes on Liz as he dropped Bill’s heart, “One down. One to go. Come on out, Liz. Oh wait, I’ve been invited in already.” Damon reached over the threshold and pulled Liz outside and ripped her head off. He was not going to leave her alive, risking the chance of her trying to kill his mates again.
“There’s still something not right about this,” Lei couldn’t help but feel this was too easy. She should have known not to think that. Because as soon as she did, those that were struck down stood up and started attacking. “Inferi! How the hell did she know this spell?” Lei and the others cast spells to blow up the Inferi, or set them on fire.
Since Klaus and Elijah were the only ones to be invited amongst the Original siblings, they rushed into the house and searched for their mother. They found her in the Mayor’s study on the first floor. “My children. Come to beg for mercy,” Esther’s expression held no remorse. Klaus growled, “We came to end you, mother.” The Original Witch heckled, “Foolish boy. I was going to redeem you and your siblings but I see it would be a waste of time. You all have aligned yourselves with those who violate our laws, and they will be eliminated. Along with the vampire race.”
Esther’s monologue was the distraction Elijah needed to rush behind her and pull out her heart. Esther was expecting this. Which is why she had cast the spell to body jump into a witch that resided in New Orleans. She would use this time to recoup and try to convince her children to consecrate her remains in New Orleans. However, what Esther does not realize is by then it will be too late. Thanatos and his Reapers will have reaped all of the ancestors leaving Esther almost powerless. But that does not mean she will go down without a fight.
The front of the Mayor’s house was an absolute mess. The council minus Carol, who Hermione had incapacitated and obliviated, were dead. None of the wizards or witches were fatally wounded but suffered some major injuries and gunshot wounds. They knew they were lucky. The LeStrange brothers, Lavender, and Draco came close to dying from how severe their injuries were but received help quick enough.
The vampires healed after removing the Vervain-soaked wooden bullets. Elijah and Klaus rejoined everyone. Elijah informed the group, “Mother has been dealt with, but I fear it may not be the last time we see her.” “Of course not. That old hag probably jumped. Bloody wench,” Kol ranted. Elijah hummed, “The doppelganger’s corpse was drained and left in a salt circle. We will need to inform her family.” Damon spoke from beside Lei, “I’ll call Ric later. Let’s get this cleaned up first.”
By the time Damon finished that sentence everything was clean and repaired. There was no sign of a battle anywhere. Hermione even sent Carol back inside her home as if nothing happened. Because Carol does not have any memories of the supernatural. As far as she remembers, her husband had a heart attack and died, the Sheriff moved closer to her ex-husband, and various people just no longer exist.
“I need a shower and a drink,” Lei turned to head home. Damon sighs and follows her, “Sounds like a plan. Then we start packing. New Orleans here we come.” The group spent the next month healing from their injuries, organizing and packing, and ensuring the homes were ready for them in New Orleans.
AN: We are finally moving to NOLA. Thank you to those that have stuck with me so far. Next chapter will have some fluff with our Triad. And possibly Kol getting his magic back, as well as a surprise for Finn.
