Amortentia
"Aspen! Wake up!" Something hit me over the head. I bolted up in bed. Looking around. "Good, you're up. Now, come on, breakfast ends in twenty minutes." I glared at Lily. But. Nonetheless. Got out of bed. And got ready in five minutes.

I got into my seat. And put my head on the Table.
"Good morning to you too." I heard Lily say. From right next to me.
I growled. But. Lifted my head. And went to grab a chocolate chip muffin.
"Someone's not happy today." Someone laughed. I looked up. It was James.
"I only got four hours of sleep." I replied.
"How did you only get four?" Lily asked.
I shrugged. "Couldn't fall asleep."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I was too busy thinking. My brain was in over-drive." I yawned.
"Well, you better wake up soon, we have Potions first." James said. Handing me my schedule.
I took it. And looked at it. I had all the same classes as before. Just. Without Divination. And. James was right. We had Potions first.
"Who else is taking Advanced Potions?" I asked.
"Well, me, Sirius, and Remus. I don't know about the girls." James replied. Looking at Lily.
"I'm taking it too, along with Dorcas and Marlene." Lily added.
"Right. Wonder who will be with us from the other Houses." I said.
"Guess we won't till we get there." James shrugged.
"Wait a minute." I paused. "How did Sirius get into Advanced Potions?"
"That hurts, Aspen." Sirius called.
"He's smarter than he looks. He does good in his classes, when he wants to." Remus added.
"Yeah. I'm smarter than I look. I made it into Advanced Potions." Sirius smirked.
"Whatever you have to tell yourself." I replied. Smirking at him.
"What other classes are you taking, Aspen?" Remus asked.
"All the ones I took last Year. Minus Divination. Wish I could drop History of Magic. But. It's mandatory to take it. So. Can't do anything on that. Even though I only got an A on it as well." I answered.
"Oh yeah, how did you do on your O.W.L.s?" Lily asked.
" I got O's in Potions, Charms, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. I got E's in Transfiguration, Astrology, and Divination. And finally. I got an A in History of Magic." I answered.
"Not bad. I got O's in everything besides History, which I got an E." Lily said.
"Good job. That's really good, Lily." I gave her a high five. I turned to the boys. "What about your four?"
"O's in Potions, Charms, and Defense. E's in Transfiguration, Herbology, and Creatures. And A's in Astrology and History." James replied.
"Same as James." Sirius said.
"O's in Potions, Charms, Transfiguration, Defense, and Creatures. E's in Herbology, Divination, Astrology, and History of Magic." Remus answered.
Last but not least. Peter. "E's in Creatures and Herbology. A's in Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology, Defense, and Potions. And an P in History."
"Not bad. Even you. Peter. Not bad." I smiled at them. They all smiled back.

It was not really a big class. Advanced Potions. It was us seven Gryffindors. Two Ravenclaws. One Hufflepuff. And one Slytherin. Who was Severus. No surprise there.
"Now, I would like to begin this first class with a little pop quiz. I would like three of you to tell me what these Potions are." Slughorn motioned to the three cauldrons behind him. "Who can tell me the first one? Yes, Mr. Snape."
"Veritaserum. A colorless, odorless, tasteless Potion. It is a powerful truth serum. The Potion effectively forces the drinker to answer any questions put to them truthfully, though there are certain methods of resistance. One being the Antidote, as well as Occlumency."
"Great job. Take fifteen points to Slytherin. What at the second one? Miss Evans, yes?"
"That is Polyjuice Potion, sir. It is a Potion that allows the drinker to assume the form of someone else. It is a highly complicated, challenging and time-consuming potion that even adult witches and wizards struggle to brew correctly." Lily answered. I. On the other hand. Was remembering when Harry and Ron took some in our Second Year.
"Correct. Fifteen points to Gryffindor. And the last one? Yes, Miss Wolfe?"
"Amortentia. It is the most powerful love potion in existence. Though it doesn't cause actual love. It causes a powerful infatuation or obsession from the drinker. It has a distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen, and steam rises from it in characteristic spirals. It has a different aroma for everyone who smells it, reminding each person of the things that they find most attractive, even if the person doesn't acknowledge or is unaware of their fondness for the object of their affection themselves."
"Correct again. Take fifteen points to Gryffindor as well. If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you smell?"
"I don't mind." I breathed in a bit of the Potion. "I smell chocolate, fire, rain, and a forest." I replied. Stopping myself. Before I could say the last thing I smelled. I smelled... 12 Grimmauld Place. It smelled like Grimmauld Place to me. There was no distinct smell. It was just. One I associated with Grimmauld Place. In fact. To be more specific. I smelled home. It smelled like home. 12 Grimmauld Place was my home. But. It would have been weird. If I said that. Considering Sirius lives there now.
"Wonderful. Now, onto today's lesson. For the remainder of this class. I want you guys to brew the Draught of Living Death. Can anyone tell me what that is. Yes, Mr. Potter?"
"The Draught of Living Death is an extremely powerful sleeping draught, sending the drinker into a deathlike slumber."
"Wonderful. Ten points to Gryffindor. Now, on you go." And with that. We all set about working on the Draught.
As I was getting my things set up. I leaned over to Remus. Whispering. "What did you smell, Remus?" I smirked.
He rolled his eyes. But. Answered nonetheless. "Chocolate, wet dog, the forest, and cologne."
"As in Sirius's cologne?" I smirked.
"Yes." Remus smiled a bit.
"Awwww. Someone's in love." I cooed.
"Shut up." Remus tried to glare. But. There was a small smile there.
I then turned to Sirius. Also. Whispering. "Oi. What did you smell with the Amortentia?"
Sirius grinned. Glancing at Remus real quick. "Chocolate, leather, books, and coffee."
"So? Remus? Minus the leather?" I smirked.
He smirked back. "Yup."
I then turned to James. "Hey! What did you smell?"
"Why do you want to know?" He asked.
I shrugged. "Just curious. Please?"
James sighed. "Fine. I smelled lilies, books, wood, and chocolate chip cookies."
I grinned. "Two of those things are Lily."
"I know." He grinned back. I shook my head. But. Went back to my original place.
"Hey, Lily? What did you smell with the Amortentia? If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't mind. I smelled books, wood, honey, and some type of cologne that I can't quite place."
I smirked. I knew she was smelling James. Well. At least his cologne. And maybe the wood. "Wonder who that is."
"Yes, so do I." She turned to Dorcas and Marlene. "What did you guys smell with Amortentia?"
"Black coffee, flowers, the sea, and apple pie." Dorcas replied.
"Peaches, pine, bacon, and bread." Marlene said.
"You guys are making me hungry. All of you. You guys each have at least one food thing in what you smell. And it's making me hungry." I told them. Looking around at my Gryffindor friends. They all smiled. Meanwhile. I took out a piece of chocolate from my bag. I sighed in pleasure. I had food now.

The rest of Potions went by fine. I managed to brew a decent Draught of Living Death. Everyone else did good too. Slughorn was very happy about that. Told us all we did a good job. One of the best classes he ever taught. He dismissed us. Not before giving us homework. It was just the process and the effects of the Draught. Though. He did add. That we also had to include what we smelled with the Amortentia. It wasn't too bad.
The rest of the day went good as well. No complications. All in all. It was a good day.
