Another Greek God

Sirius was practically jumping in his seat in the great hall. He was smiling and every other second he would look to the door. I knew he was focused on one task, one goal. He’s not very good at splitting his attention, when he has his mind set he would only think of one thing. Unfortunately Mary didn’t know this.

“Hey Sirius!” Mary was smiling too, now I was sure she had a crush on him. Our entire first year she spoke not one word to the boy but now here she was chatting him up. Sirius looked at her, nodded and said hi then looked back at the door.

“How was your summer?” Mary asked him. This caused remus to stop reading and looked at her annoyed like she was breaking some rule.

“Good.” Sirius shrugged his eyes on the door. Marlene and Lily were too busy conversing to notice this sad interaction which was probably for the better. Mary looked at me in defeat, I felt bad for her, I hoped she didn’t get too sad.

I had no idea as to why Sirius seemed so obsessed with the doors until he walked in. The boy was sculpted sharp and precise. From his knife like jaw line to his perfectly fit uniform, this boy was definitely the younger black brother. He had curly hair like Sirius except his was cut to bang level and somehow sat nice and neat. I was honestly jealous that my curly hair always stuck out and was never that neat. The boy walked with elegance and order, he was opposite of Sirius. Sirius displayed all of his emotions and energy out of him, this boy kept it itself and made himself appear.. well.. perfect. Everything about him made me understand Sirius, before Hogwarts this was Sirius, this was who his family was.

I looked from Sirius to the boy, Sirius seemed so proud and happy, the boy was more nervous and a little paranoid. They looked so similar and yet we’re so different. The only thing they had was that they looked like Greek gods. I could see it all now, there father was Zeus, there mother Hera, Sirius was Apollo, and the young one was Artemis. I know Artemis is technically a goddess but come on, if Sirius was the sun then he was definitely the moon. I learned most of the gods when I was eight and James was first given a broom.

I looked at friends, all eight of us had our eyes on the young Black brother. I wondered what they were thinking, if they were comparing similarities and differences like I was or if they were wondering how Sirius made it out of that house with any personality left.

“That’s my brother, Reggie. Regulas fully but that’s boring. He’s going to be in Gryffindor with us!” Sirius explained, he was so excited I didn’t have the heart to break it to him. None of us did. That boy, Regulas, was further away from being a Gryffindor then he was going to a muggle school in America. Everything about him screamed his parents. Sirius put every thought into his parents, but mostly how to find a loophole in going against him. Sirius wouldn’t walk the way Regulas did, Sirius wouldn’t make sure his uniform was perfect just to go to dinner. Regulas, it seemed, would rather follow the main family instead of his brother, and Sirius was about to find that out.

Mary looked at me even more distraught. She glanced at Sirius as if asking what should we do? I had no answer, he looked so happy, so much happier talking about his family now than he did when we were star gazing. Mary caught my attention again then she turned to look at Serverus, I followed her gaze. Severus Snape was smiling like he just won all the money in the world. He was so ready to destroy Sirius’s happiness. I wanted to walk over and slap him just for this. Unfortunately for all of us, Professor Mcgonagal started calling names.

I looked back at Regulas, actually I couldn’t stop looking at Regulas. He was practically the prettiest human being I had ever seen. I don’t know how the Black family produced such models when all they do is mate with each other but somehow they all come out looking gorgeous. No offense to Sirius, but his brother was way more good looking than him. After this summer, Sirius is like my family, I had no clue what Mary saw in him.

“Black, Regulas.” Mcgonagal called, Sirius held his breath, so did the rest of us just not for the same reason.

The hat took less than two seconds to scream SLYTHERIN! Sirius looked like he was stuck my lightning. His cousins at the slytherin table nodded approvingly, like their family title was back on its high horse. Severus Snape smiled more than I’d ever seen, and it was not a pleasant sight. I kept waiting for his eyes to turn black and a snake younger to sprout from his mouth as he announced our doom. Maybe at least then Lily would stop being friends with him.

Luckily, Peter and James were able to turn Sirius’s disappointment into a conversation about hating Severus, it was a good distraction. I turned back to Mary.

“So when oh when do I kept to know the surprise?!” I asked, curiosity was seriously getting the best of me, it’s no wonder pandora opened that box.

“Tonight I promise!” She smiled, she seemed to love holding information hostage.

“It better be worth the three month wait.” I joked

“Oh don’t worry, it definitely is.”
