Todostoic
Hisashi Hyuuga is reinc as Enji Todoroki and figures this is his punishment for failing as a father, a Clan Head and a Konoha jounin.
He had hoped… hoped he would see his twin and his beloved wife again but no, he’s here in this new world that is so very different both in focus and mentality.
Still in his Clan Head mindset, he accepts the offer to wed the daughter of a famous bloodline as, behind her mask, she’s terrified and miserable.
He does what he can to reassure her, to court her properly and win her over.
They are wed in due course and their children start arriving.
He has his Heir. A fine boy with a fire Quirk stronger than his own… unfortunately he has his mother’s ice resistance. (It had been why he’d been cautious to accept the match. He would have done better to find a match with a more complimentary elemental Quirk but the family was well to do and insistent and he couldn’t afford to offend them even though he also came from money.) Even so, the boy was his Heir and though he’d like a spare, he wasn’t going to push.
Rei’s family didn’t seem so restrained. It was obvious they wanted a child capable of wielding both fire and ice out of their match.
He did his best to let her know that HE did not expect such of her… but his raising both times had been restrained so he wasn’t very good at open communication… even after the courses on it in U.A.’s Hero Course.
(Would that they’d had this knowledge in Konoha. The sheer availability of information here was mind blowing and it was open to all who could access a computer. It broke his mind honestly.)
Rei hadn’t known that he was satisfied with the two children and he’s even given her a daughter to dote on. All four of them are kept out of the spotlight as he knows Rei was also raised strictly and mostly isolated. She would be uncomfortable with media attention and their children would simply be targets.
Even though it’s uncomfortable for him, he tries.
Traditionally raised or not, communication is needed for a relationship so he keeps trying, keeps encouraging and does his best to set aside time for both her and their children.
He trains his boy because he asks and is interested.
Natsu, who’s Quirk has yet to show, even at seven, is trained in the more traditional shinobi arts… the non Chakra based ones anyway.
His second son wants to be a medic and Hisashi is fine with that.
Still, if he’s in the field, he wants his boy to have the skills to keep himself out of the line of fire and Natsuo is happy with that. It’s attention from his father so he jumps on the training gleefully.
His daughter is born and his career is doing well.
He keeps learning and studying because the information is so readily available here so why not use it. Being in the spot light is hard as shinobi prefer attention to be elsewhere but he is getting used to it even if he keeps his fights as efficient as possible… with a small amount of collateral damage as he can manage.
Despite society calling all who use their Quirk unlawfully Villains, he can’t shake the mind set that a petty thug is NOT on the same level as Missing Nin equivalent.
There ARE a few things he comes down hard on though. Rape, human trafficking and the illegal breeding houses using forced Quirk matches. All of these strike a particularly hateful cord and have a habit of ‘accidentally’ scorching the Villains to the point where they won’t be doing much of anything again.
His control is generally good enough that they survive and that’s what counts to his mind.
He also doesn’t differentiate between ‘weak’ Quirks, the Quirkless, mutant Quirks or anything else. Bloodline matters little here as Quirks don’t always breed true the way Kekkei Genkai did.
He rises to number Two which is more than he intended and demands long hours.
As expected, he gathered any number of fire Quirk users to train up and sets up an agency. Marketing is… a necessary evil, but it still feels degrading.
He is curt but professional on the job. He will never be a comforting Hero but he is one people can rely on and that is something to be proud of.
Even though he is content with his three children, his wife, his position and his career, his wife decides to accede to her family's urging and have a fourth child, still trying for that perfect mix.
He isn’t sure why… it’s not like they will ever get their hands on him or her.
He’d been through the betrothal contract very thoroughly. Should he or his wife die, they will NOT be going to her family or parents.
His brother yet lives and has agreed to care for them… and he would hand them over to the now Principal Nedzu’s care before the Himura families. His children deserve to be able to pick their own paths. (It was more than he’d been able to give his daughters, the only thing remaining of his beloved wife. Or his nephew, whose father, his own beloved twin, had taken his place and died in his stead.)
Rei’s Mother’s Malady is particularly strong after this pregnancy.
He monitors her behavior with increasing concern. She has the child her family wanted, likely, by the little one’s perfectly split hair… and full heterochromia.
She wants to take her youngest child… and only her youngest child, to visit her parents.
He agrees, but accompanies her.
Her family do their best to conceal it, but they aren’t happy that he has also come.
They are all for whisking the child away while the adults are speaking, but he smiles and keeps his youngest son with him, the heats soothing the child so he sleeps through most of the visit.
He tells his wife point blank that she will not be trying this again.
It was perfectly obvious that they had not intended to allow the child to leave once in the compound and he won’t have it.
He appreciates that she is an obedient daughter of the Himura but she is his wife and the mother of his children as well and that should take a higher priority. If she doesn’t and it isn’t then, while she may return to her birth family any time, none of the children will be visiting.
They will also be seeing a healer as he’s worried for her health.
He doesn’t mean to be so high handed but worry has always made him more foreboding.
He is right to worry.
His wife has severe depression and a lot of trauma from the way she was raised.
Her blood family are compounding it and Rei’s mind is giving under the strain of their demands and expectations and his lessened ones. He has been very clear on what he wants and expects but she keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop… and it never has.
Rei voluntarily goes into care.
What she’d almost done to her baby boy has her shaking and shuddering.
She’d never voluntarily subject a child to the way she’d been raised… as a… a trade item with no say in her future.
Her.. THEIR little Shouto deserves better than that.
Touya, nearly ten now, doesn’t take it well.
He knows mum hasn’t been well but he hadn’t know she was that bad off. She almost gave his littlest brother to their stiff and proper but grasping and strict grandparents. The Himura side of the family gives him the creeps.
She’s gone into hospital to get help.
His father also explains having a baby mucks up the system inside a woman’s body knocking them all out of wack.
Sometimes they get the blues for a bit and sometimes they slide into full depression and that’s what his mother had done.
Their father had noticed but he couldn’t be sure and Rei didn’t want to go and see a doctor. She didn’t want to believe there was something wrong… and her birth family had taken advantage of that. He’d never forgive them for it. Ever.
His children grew up with his strict but caring ways and regular, monitored visits to their mother who is slowly improving.
She’s even had some visits home.
Unfortunately, none of the medications they’ve been trying for her have been effective so far and therapy can only do so much.
She has offered to accept a quiet divorce but he will not.
Not unless that is what she genuinely wants or needs. She is his wife and he promised her ‘in sickness and in health and in the good times and the bad’, despite their traditional wedding.
It’s even in the marriage contract as that is something he does approve of from Western style weddings. Long and short, he’s not going to throw her aside simply because the trauma inflicted on her has come back to bite.
He still loves and cares for her and will always do his best for her.
(She cried, bawled really, even allowing him to hold her.)
She may never be well enough to be home full time but he’ll take what she can get.
Their home and family aren’t perfect but they do care about each other.
Touya follows in his father’s footsteps, learning that his too hot fire isn’t MEANT to have contact with his skin.
Like his mother’s ice, his fire is of the pyrokinetic sort, aka, he can light it from a distance though it’s limited to line of sight.
Rather than Villain Apprehension, Touya goes into the rescue side of Heroics under then Back Burn and into a relationship with two other Heroes, Hawks and the ever independent Mirko… who are NOT dating each other though fully aware of each other.
Natsuo follows his dream into med school… but hasn’t escaped the family urge towards Heroics so yeah, he’s a front line medic. Still single but in no rush.
Fuyumi isn’t into Heroics. She’s gone into teaching instead and enjoying it.
Shouto has decided he’s… SHE is Shouko (not something he really had to deal with as a Shinobi… except in the Clans where breeding Heirs was a priority. Even there, the civilian sides could get away with preferring their own gender and cross dressing for a mission happened fairly often… but simply deciding you felt wrong in your body/ gender had been treated like a mental illness and not acceptable in an active shinobi.
Young Naruto’s ‘henge’ had been further developed until gender shift was actually possible and the problem was sorted… mostly. Sadly, they don’t have access to something like that here.) and fully accepted the families support.
He did his best but hadn’t been sure he’d been as successful in that as he would like.
Still his son turned daughter seems content enough in her own slightly awkward way.
She has decided for herself that she would like to try the Hero course and he’s willing to allow it.
She doesn’t want a recommendation though. She wants to push herself. To try for the main exams and to see how far she can go on her own.
She met some interesting people, including All Might’s probable Heir, who is small, and nervous but determined and strong.
Together they rescued another girl. Ingenium’s brother had been there too though he hadn’t helped them.
Their class held some interesting people.
The nervous green, the girl they’d rescued, Ingenium’s brother, an explosive blond who made the green one cringe away (definite history there… not the good sort either.) a kid who looked like a purple haired clone of their homeroom teacher with gravity defying hair, a really big loud guy who used wind and tornados who was a recommendation student, with the other recommendation student being a familiar face from the Yaoyorozu family, a kid with permanent rock hide who never spoke, a kid who could turn his hide to rock, an acid using girl, an electricity using boy, a girl with very dangly ear lobes, a very blond, very sparkly french kid, a guy with a crows head (and a living shadow), a kid with a weird face and tape elbows, a frog girl, a guy with a very noticeable tail, a tall guy with a face mask who could make multiple arms, a guy with serious facial hair who turned into some kind of were beast thing, an invisible girl and lastly a thuggish looking kid who turned into a dumb brute when sugar was applied. It seemed the class was to have twenty two students each this year.
(Class B was mostly the same as Canon except minus the werebeast guy and plus the Grape perve, along with that illusion girl - Cammi, the EarthQuake generator with the vibration Quirk - Yo Shindo and Toga Himiko, Nieto Minoma’s equally unstable, former run away of a half sister.)
Classes are divided by those with those who have Quirks that might need help to control or that might go underground going to 1-A and those with more easily controlled and leaning more towards rescue or support Heroes going to 1-B… except for Toga who, with a blood reliant Quirk is there under Vlad Kings control/ sponsorship.
Shouko noted there were a lot of Element users in her class this year. Lightning, explosions, wind, fire/ice, lasers/ invisibility (light based), that dark shadow (darkness), rock, acid (a variant of water/ liquid), gravity… even the nervous green had a sort of lightning that crackled all over him when his power was set to max.
