Count on me
Platform Nine and three quarters was always incredibly busy when the train was due to depart and those in the train could be seen in mixed emotions; the first years were crazy, seventh years rolling their eyes and those in between waving to their parents.
In Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, everyone had a place. If you didn't, you would struggle your way through.
One compartment near the front of the year had the same students occupying it for three years. It had spread across the rest of the train that they did so and it made it easy for people to find them. After all, the group of four girls had seemingly become popular over the span of a year due to their antics and personalities.
Through their amazing creative skills, they gave themselves the name of maraudettes...that was a lie. They stole the name from a map they found in their second year and added 'ttes' to the end. The marauder's map was owned by their fathers, as one of the group member had found out by being the daughter of the only werewolf member.
Some status came natural, through Juliette Potter and Skylar Black. Skylar bathed in being known as a murderers daughter while Juliette hated being known as the 'girl-who-lived' despite the advances it gave her in popularity.
"Harry didn't mean to, it just happened," Juliette explained, pushing her glasses up on her nose,"I mean, my aunt marge is a piece of work. She thinks I go to a prep school in London. How dim is she?"
"I don't know what a prep school is," Skylar replied, having grown up around pure-bloods. "But hey! Having an aunt who looks like a balloon can't be all bad! Is she still floating around?"
"Of course not," Paige Pettigrew rolled her eyes from where she sat,"Right?"
Juliette shook her head.
"Wizards can't just let muggles be balloons, Sky," Raelynn commented with a small snort,"Though it would be hilarious...what did Harry say about it."
"Not a lot, he was joking away with Ron," Juliette replied.
Juliette's cat, Blinky, as attempting to curl up on her lap. The cute cat, who was black and wide, loved attention from her owner.
"I'd watch out for Ron, Sky," Paige added kindly,"He was rather...abrupt about you being...y'know."
"Eh, it's all good," Skylar shrugged,"Aunt 'meda told me not to pay attention but Aunt Cissy told me to show I'm better than then...which leads me to pretend I'm a murderer too."
"You really shouldn't do that," Juliette condemned, "It's bad enough I had people ask if I trust you the entire time I was walking to the compartment. They think you'll murder me. If you do, give me a heads up first, yeah?"
"Of course," Skylar winked.
"I don't know why I sit with you two," Raelynn laughed,"Cho is way better company. It's just a shame that Marietta doesn't like me much. I don't know why, I've never done anything to her."
"She totally thinks you're stealing Cho!" Skylar theorised, "I mean, why else? Let's be honest, we are the hottest group to walk the halls of Hogwarts in ages."
"Aren't you modest today," Paige joked.
"Some of us know our worth," said Skylar smugly.
Paige rolled her eyes before getting up to look where the trolly lady was, wanting to buy sweets. It was still a couple of compartments up so she sat back down again with a sigh.
"So anyway," Skylar continued, "I plan to let people know who my dad is before the rumours start. See how many people I can scare. Besides my own house, we're all made of steel."
"Sure," Juliette commented sarcastically, "You tell that to your cousin. He's been failing at trying to best my brother since we got here."
"It's sad really," Skylar sighed, moving her hair from her shoulder,"But he gets too much of his personality from Uncle Lucius. Draco is a bit of a bully, I'll admit but family is family."
The train stopped dead.
At first, it seemed as though the ice on the windows formed out of no where, spiralling off within seconds. The temperature inside the train dropped alarmingly as all members of the compartment stood up to see what was going on.
"What?" Raelynn said blankly, eating the last of her chocolate frogs. "Have we arrived?"
"No, it's still early," Paige replied, checking her watch.
The four of them looked between the compartments and saw some other students peaking their heads out of theirs. The four remained on their feet as they listened to the sounds outside carefully.
"D-do you g-guys feel suddenly c-cold?" Juliette asked.
The other three nodded and rubbed their hands together.
The train shook violently and they all fell backwards. They all breathed heavily in fear as the lights died off.
Raelynn covered her ears in sudden movement; she was sensitive to different sensory areas such as different sounds and flashing lights.
"Dementor." Raelynn breathed in horror.
As if on cue, a giant hooded figure slowly floated in front of their compartment, making all of them back away from the door. Juliette's cat, cotton, began to meow as the Dementor slid open the compartment door.
Skylar frowned deeply in concern as she noticed Juliette had began to shake.
Noticing the lack of steadiness her friend had, Skylar drived to catch Juliette's unconscious body; she had passed out. She looked up at her two friends who were as stiff as a statue helplessly.
"Paige, Lynn—"
Jumping in front of her friends, Raelynn pointed her wand at the dementor before yelling an incantation at the Dementor.
A silver light burst from her wand, though not completely solid, and ran over the Dementor, making it stumble and float away.
Raelynn turned around and immediately helped Skylar move Juliette onto the chair.
"Dementors bring back bad memories," Raelynn explained as she searched her bag for chocolate,"Damn it, where's my chocolate—"
"Here," Another voice entered the compartment.
Remus Lupin stepped through the door and passed a chocolate bar to his daughter.
"Thanks dad," Raelynn replied,"How did you know?"
"I had a suspicion the dementor might have the same effect on Juliette that it did on her brother," Remus replied,"Are you all alright?"
"No!"The green-robed girl cried,"I think I sprained my wrist catching Jules."
Remus Lupin didn't even need to blink before he recognised Skylar Black. Her way of speaking was exactly like Sirius and she looked like Ruelle.
"Don't be dramatic," Paige chimed in,"She's fine."
"Are you alright?" Remus asked Skylar gentely, who pouted.
"Yeah, thanks," She replied,"But I wasn't being dramatic!"
"I have to go and speak to the driver, when Juliette wakes up, make sure she eats some chocolate," Remus told his daughter,"I'll see you later."
"Bye dad," Raelynn called as he walked away, turning her full attention to her friends.

The group of four girls departed as they disbanded the train. Juliette headed to Katie Bell, Lee Jordan and the Weasley twins; Raelynn headed to Cho and Marietta; Skylar found Cassius Warrington; Finally, Paige happily joined Cedric and Thomas.
They all headed to the great hall closely behind each other. It was still as magnificent as ever - decked with flaming torches and containing the grand doors of the Great Hall. The doors were opening, and Juliette was the first to step inside.
"Potter! I want to see you."
The voice clearly belonged to Professor McGonagall. Juliette and Katie shared a glance before stepping to the side.
Juliette considered McGonagall to be her favourite professor, moreso because she excelled in her class alongside Defence Against the Dark Arts. In fact, each member of the maraudettes had a speciality; Raelynn did best in charms and Arithmancy; Skylar did best in Potions and Astronomy; and Paige did amazingly in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. It made them the perfect team when it came to homework.
"Professor, if this is about the train then I'm fine!" Juliette announced,"Raelynn's dad — Uh, Professor Lupin — he gave me some chocolate and checked I was alive."
"Madam Pomfrey—"
"No! I mean no disrespect Professor but please let me go to the Great hall," Juliette whined, "I'll be right along to the hospital wing if I feel unwell."
"As you wish but Potter, you and your brother ought to stay inside the castle," said Professor McGonagall in a warning voice,"As should we all."
"I don't quite understand though, Professor," Juliette commented,"If Sirius Black wanted to come to Hogwarts...I don't think Dementors will keep him out."
Juliette said nothing more as she locked eyes with Skylar, who was walking past. Skylar would have a difficult year and it was just luck that she was sarcastic enough to brush most comments off like nothing. If anything, it would be her anger issues that got her into trouble.
As the sorting rolled by, there was enough chatter from the table to make it bearable. Everyone clapped as new students joined the tables.
"Welcome!" Dumbledore exclaimed, smiling as he scanned the four tables of students. "Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it best to get it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast. As you will all be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently playing host to some of the Dementors of Azkaban, who are here on Ministry of Magic business."
A cluster of whispers broke out amongst the hall.
"They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds." Dumbledore continued, "Whilst they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises - or even Invisibility Cloaks. It is not in the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. I look to the prefects, and our new Head Boy and Girl, to make sure that no student runs afoul of the Dementors."
Percy, who had puffed out his chest to brandish his Head Boy badge, stared around proudly.
"On a happier note," Dumbledore said, "I am pleased to welcome two new teachers to our ranks this year. First, Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher."
Raelynn felt eyes on her but she just beamed while clapping. She didn't mind if people knew that her father was the teacher, she had a lot of respect for him.
It was common knowledge that Snape wanted the Defence Against the Dark Arts job, however he had never shown so much resent towards a new teacher filling the post. His expression was one of such loathing that if looks could kill, Lupin would've been dead in an instant.
"As to our second new appointment, I am sorry to tell you that Professor Kettleburn, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining limbs." Dumbledore continued, "However, I am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, who has agreed to take on this teaching job in addition to his gamekeeping duties."
"We should've known!" Paige laughed, looking at Cedric,"All the third years got books that bite them!"
Soon, the feast ended, and everyone headed towards their different dorms. It was going to be a crazy year.
