Waiting For Their Letters

“How hard it is to write back?!” Walburga exclaimed for the fifth time that afternoon.

“You have to be patient, Walls” Druella tried to calm her down. “They are busy working. They will write when they have some free moment, which I doubt.”

“My boyfriend could be dead, Druella!” she lost it. “I don’t care if he is meeting Merlin himself. The deal we made was that he would send a message every night. And last night, no one reached out.”

“You don’t need to explain that to me. My address is the bed next to yours” Rosier reminded her. “Everything you experience. I experience.”

Walburga ignored her scathing comment and continued pacing back and ford. The truth was that everyone was getting on their nerves. The news about Grindelwald’s attacks were all over the news and it was frightening to think that their friends were one of the casualties.

“Hiya” Minerva appeared with the same preoccupied face as the Slytherin girls. “Any news yet?”

She sat down in the stool that was in one of the corridors of the castle, next to Druella. By observing the other girl, she could tell that the answer was no.

“I feel like I could suffer a heart attack” she stopped pacing to face the Gryffindor girl.

“You and Chuck are like a married couple already” Minerva said. “Have you been together for what? A year now?”

“One year, two months and six days.”

“So lucky” Druella ironized. “It’s weird that not even Belle sent a letter.”

“I’m sure they are fine” Minerva assured both of them.

“Agh!” Walls breathed out of frustration and let herself go sitting next to McGonagall. “If something happens to any of them, I’ll murder them myself. Believe me, my parents used very nasty hexes on me when I was little. I know how to use them.”

“We don’t doubt that” Druella sighed.

“An owl!” Minerva spotted flying right into one of the windows.

They wished it was the message that they were all waiting for. But instead, it was Druella’s secret admirer, who wasn’t a secret at all. His name started with an A and ended in Braxas Malfoy. This had been going on for a month now. Every day she would receive a letter accompanied by a magic rose that wouldn’t wilt.

“What does it say?” Walburga teased her.

“Bullshit.” She hid the letter in her robe pocket and stood up. “I have my Healer's course. See you later, girls!”

“You are so in love with him” Walburga laughed.

“Drue-Drue is in love-love!”

“With your girlfriend” she teased Minerva back. “That is why I’m meeting her at the Healer's course.”

“Have fun. Say hi to Poppy.”

When she finally left, the funny aura faded and Walburga went back to her sulky face.

“I’ll go nuts” she declared and Minerva hugged her for comfort.

“No way! Another owl is flying right into us.”

“Where?” Walburga stood up like a lighting and caught the letter.

We are Ok. Sorry for writing this late. All our love.
