letter 16
21 April 1996
Dear Starboy,
My favorite part about growing up as a muggle… well, there were many things I adored and many things that I am finding it very difficult to live without.
I can’t think of just one favorite thing, so I will fancy you with the one thing I miss the most: cars! I loved when my parents would drive me around town or the countryside. I loved seeing all of the different types of landscapes in Britain. Watching the world zoom by is something that I will always enjoy. I suppose I would get a similar feeling with brooms if they flew closer to the ground, but I just can’t deal with the height!
Greatest fear, now that would have to be making friends. However, even when I would start at a new muggle school, I was scared to make friends. As you can probably tell, I’m not the easiest person to like! But, I’m very happy with the friends that I have made here, especially you, Starboy.
Yes, being thrown into the wizarding world at eleven years old was a shock and a very difficult adjustment, but I believe that living here has helped. I don’t think I could have done it if this was like muggle school. This may come as a shock to you, but students don’t live at their muggle schools! They live at their house and usually their parents drive them to school. I can’t imagine Hogwarts without thinking about a home.
This might be too forward of a question, but here goes!
Why don’t you want to be seen with me? And I don’t believe any of that Slytherin-Gryffindor rivalry crap.
Love,
Bookworm

“What a loaded question,” Theo snorted, looking over Draco’s shoulder.
Draco huffed, “Can you stop reading my private letters?”
“Mate, she thinks she’s dating me. At least let her boyfriend read the letters!” The first boy laughed.
“I’m her boyfriend,” Draco growled, “She likes me. I’m just using your face.”
“I know, my face is pretty! Thank you for finally realizing.”
“I hate you.”

My dearest Bookworm,
It’s not that I don’t want to be seen with you. If I’m being honest, I haven’t told my friends yet about us, and I would like to figure out how to tell them before I formally introduce you to them. I know they aren’t the biggest fans of Gryffindors (sorry), so I need to introduce the subject of you lightly. I pray Draco won’t murder me – every day, actually – but more so, when I tell him we’re dating. I promise I will do it soon.
Truth be told, I would shout it from the rooftops, proclaiming our relationship, but there are so many obstacles. Firstly, my friends. Also, my father (word will travel to him FAST).
One day we will publicly be together, and I would love to show you off. Anyone would be lucky to date you. I am so lucky to call you mine.
Yours,
Starboy
P.S. Wasn’t that a clever way to end the letter? Now, I need to include my question here: Who is your favorite out of your group of friends? I’d love to see you have to pick between them.

“He’s having you pick between us?” Ginny screeched.
Hermione laughed, “Well, not actually. I can’t pick a favorite friend anyways. You’re all my favorites for different reasons… and at different times.”
Ginny paused, “But I’m your favorite most of the time, right?”
“Yes, Gin, of course. I can only take Ron and Harry in small doses, but you, I could spend forever with you.”
