Purple and Yellow
Ever since Sirius confessed to her that his favorite color, on a girl, was purple; Mary set to work.
She searched countless boutiques, touched fabrics of all thicknesses and types, tried on different styles, and even considered changing her hairstyle.
She discarded it, determining that her curly Afro-style hair, she liked better than Sirius.
She could assure that with her curves and dark skin tone, the tight purple short dress looked great on her, along with the black leather jacket and her stunning makeup; Mary felt ready to sweep her off her feet.
Indeed, she was the most beautiful girl in Gryffindor. Lily described her as: ”unforgettable”, and she went down to the common room accompanied by the compliments of her friends. The boys were stunned to see the tender Mary, showing off her elegant attributes, leaving just enough space for the imagination.
She unintentionally took the spotlight away from Sirius for a couple of minutes. She was turning her long-awaited fourteenth and that birthday party was shaping up to be one of the coolest of the next century
Sirius looked away from the stupid joke James was making and forgot all about it. His full attention belonged to Mary, who approached him with a playful smile on her lips.
“Happy birthday, Sirius” Mary congratulated, planting an innocent kiss on the boy's cheek. “Have a wonderful time.”
“Thank you, Mary” Sirius replied, trying to imprint the image of the girl in his mind. “Let me tell you, you look… Sensational.”
He was perceptive for the things that really interested him, maybe he wasn't the best Divination student, but he was already imagining the next few months hand in hand with Mary. A future that began that very day.
“Would you like to dance?” Sirius asked, before Mary left.
“Of course! I hope you picked some decent music, Sirius.”
Sirius put his hand on Mary's waist, taking in her perfume. It was a salty smell, reminding him of endless summer afternoons at sea.
“Do you have so little hope for me?” Sirius commented graciously, holding Mary's hands. “Today I'm going to show you what real music is, MacDonald.”
They danced so much that Mary took off her shoes and began to sway barefoot. Sirius never left her side for an instant, drawn to her like a magnet. That same night they went from being friends to lovers, the lights dimmed in the common room, whereas the music ended, Mary kissed Sirius, and he returned the gesture, without realizing that, Mary; gave him her first kiss.
Breaking away, Sirius wrapped his arms around Mary's waist and murmured:
“Holy heavens, Mary. You really look wonderful in purple.”
While their relationship lasted, Mary's closet underwent a strange change in tone. From blouses to underwear, they were purple. But when all the magic was over, with tear-drenched eyes, she went looking for the dress she wore the night Sirius began to see her as more than friends.
The next morning, Mary showed up wearing the same dress, but in yellow.
