Sisters
There were three of them. Born one after the other, a couple of years apart.
Laughter accompanied them from sunrise until the moon lit their heads. They were joined like fingernails, and the only way to tell them apart was by their hairstyles. They played at being princesses, married to strong, pure-blooded wizards and living in endless luxury.
The eldest was Bellatrix, whose abundant black hair screamed her millennial lineage in every direction. When she was born, everyone realized what kind of which she would become in the future, because such was her cry, that the whole neighborhood suffered a blackout.
She was followed by Andromeda, of whom the only thing that can be salvaged are her misfortunes. She was the most cheerful and rebellious, who, during the children's games, let her sisters stay with the princes, while she chose the humble peasant with a good heart.
But of Andromeda, as would be reiterated in the future, only her stain would remain.
Little Narcissa was always the most consented. Her straight hair and skin as white as paper, made Bellatrix decide to take care of her younger sister until death. Narcissa was impressionable, and lived imitating the classist behaviors of her parents, because she hated to feel belittled.
The Blacks entered Hogwarts, and when Bella was in her fifth year, Narcissa arrived. Immediately sorted into Slytherin, as her parents had planned, and falling in love at a single look with that blond boy, who smiled slyly at her.
A pity that parents had more influence than their own daughters. From the crib, each one had defined her future, but neither Narcissa nor Andromeda had any intention of fulfilling it. Bellatrix, was the only one who shrugged it off, because she knew that if she bonded with the Lestrange’s, she would not only fulfill her parents' wishes, but she would also be noticed by her dark lord.
It was that first marriage that began to divide the three sisters definitively. Andromeda lowered her head as soon as Bellatrix entered in her pompous white dress, and Narcissa managed to focus with her eyes on the person her parents had planned as her future husband.
He was an older man than her, with gray hair and the first signs of an eternal baldness. Narcissa was repulsed by the idea, especially after considering that the man was only a couple of years younger than her father.
The one in the middle, the same day she came of age, presented her parents with the marriage paper that changed her last name, definitively, and left embracing her few belongings; never to return.
Narcissa could not have been more devastated, but inspired by her older sister's act, she decided to fulfill her first rebellious wish of her life. She followed her heart and continued to see her future husband.
Of course, her parents were somewhat disappointed by that decision, but when they met Lucius in person, they ended up seeing in him the great fortune and brilliant reputation of the Malfoy name.
Neither of the sisters knew much more about each other. Each followed their ideologies in their own way, and had loyalty tattooed on their bodies. They left girlish games behind and decided to continue their lives as they decided, however painful the separation was.
The older one, serving the desires of evil.
The middle one, embracing her compassion and love.
The younger one, relentlessly caring for her family.
Those were their loyalties, and they would not waver, even if it meant death.
