Chapter 6

🎵

They went back to the booth quietly with no one noticing they were gone. P'Kapook finally arrived a few minutes after with apologetic eyes and a promise to treat them out for a meal for the trouble.

That was 2 hours ago.

They've both parted ways and went home.

Namtan collapsed onto her bed, tossing her shoes off with an exaggerated sigh. The night had been insane. She couldn't believe she'd spent hours handcuffed to someone, stuck in a jail booth of all places, and then sneaking around campus like a couple of delinquents.

And yet... when she closed her eyes, she couldn't stop thinking about it.

About her.

Film.

The memory of their time on the rooftop kept coming back to her - the way Film had looked at the stars & moon, like she was seeing them for the first time. The way Film's voice had softened when she talked about her designs, her hands fidgeting with the hem of her shirt as if she was nervous to share something so personal.

Namtan had been with a number of girls who purposely acted shy in front of her as an attempt to be charming whatsoever but she always saw through it and played along, but with Film, it was genuine, it was frustratingly cute.

Film, the quiet, reserved girl from the architecture department. The one everyone else ignored, or wrote off as too shy, too serious. The one Namtan had barely noticed until tonight.

Namtan shifted onto her bed, propping her head up with her arm as she stared at the ceiling. It had been a crazy night, but... a fun one. She couldn't stop the small smile that tugged at her lips when she thought about how Film had acted - how they had acted together. Handcuffed and thrown together in a jail booth, the scheming, the thrill of escaping, little shy smiles as they play-pretended as a couple, the way Film had looked at her when Namtan said something a little too bold. It was all so... real, and she'd honestly been a little shocked by how comfortable Film had gotten once they'd been alone. The walls around her seemed to fall away, just a little.

And it was new to Namtan as well; she's had a lot of female friends that she's bonded with but never felt shy, never felt her palms sweat or found herself stunned and at a loss for words.

And maybe... just maybe, Namtan had liked it. A lot more than she should've.

Namtan bit her lip, rolling over onto her stomach as she stared down at her phone, the glow from the screen illuminating the dark room. She was trying to look for Film's profile online, but it looks like she doesn't have any or uses a different username.

She's a complete idiot for forgetting to ask for Film's number.

How can she contact her now?

What would she even say?

Will she even see her again?

It wasn't like they were friends, exactly. They'd barely spoken before tonight, and now? Now she felt like she had all these feelings she wasn't sure how to unpack. Sure, Film was quiet and reserved, but there was something about the way she listened.

Something about the way Film seemed to let herself be seen, just a little bit, when Namtan cracked through the surface. Namtan had spent her whole life putting on a show, being loud, being seen. But Film? She was different. She didn't hide behind a persona. It was like she was a puzzle Namtan couldn't quite figure out, and she found that irresistible.

She could still feel the way their hands had brushed when Film nervously touched her fingers on the rooftop. It had been a simple, almost accidental touch, but it had lingered in a way that made Namtan's heart race. It was like Film hadn't realized how much that moment meant to Namtan, how much her shy, accidental touch had sent Namtan's mind spinning.

Namtan chuckled, pressing a hand to her forehead. "This is absurd," she muttered. "It's just Film. She's... she's just Film."

But that wasn't true, was it? Film wasn't just the quiet girl who sat in the back of class or the one who kept to herself. She was... more than that. And for the first time in a while, Namtan wasn't sure if she could just let this go.

What had happened tonight wasn't just a random encounter. It was something deeper. Namtan had felt it, and from the way Film had looked at her when she mentioned the moon, when she smiled shyly, Namtan was pretty sure Film had felt it too.

Could she be crushing on her?

The thought made Namtan's stomach flutter in a way she hadn't expected. The idea was both exhilarating and terrifying. She wasn't the type of person who got nervous or second-guessed herself. But with Film, everything felt different.

She could still hear Film's quiet laugh when Namtan had teased her under the Plumeria tree, the way her eyes had softened, even if she hadn't admitted it. And the fact that Film had smiled back - really smiled, not just that polite, reserved smile she gave to everyone else - made Namtan's chest tighten in a way she didn't quite understand.

The more Namtan thought about it, the more she realized how much she wanted to see Film again. Not just to talk about school projects or gossip like they were casual acquaintances. She wanted to know Film, wanted to spend more time with her in a way that wasn't confined to a ridiculous situation like tonight.

Namtan closed her eyes, a small sigh escaping her lips. Maybe she'll do merit tomorrow and hope for Film's number to appear miraculously on her phone. And then maybe she'd ask if Film wanted to grab a coffee or check out a new exhibit. But for now, the memory of the night would have to be enough.

And maybe... just maybe, Namtan had developed a little crush on her quiet, mysterious, and surprisingly charming classmate.
