Chapter 3.
[The Ford Anglia is parked at King's Cross Station as numerous people walk past it. In the station, Harry, Ron, Ginny, Percy, Fred, George, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley are desperate to catch the Hogwarts Express before it leaves.]
- Mr. Weasley: 10:58. Come on, come on!
- Mrs. Weasley: Train will be leaving any moment!
- Mr. Weasley: Fred, George, Percy, you first! [Fred pushes his cart through the barrier to Platform 9¾, followed by Percy and George]
- Mrs. Weasley: [patting Ginny on the back] Okay. [Ginny pushes her cart and runs through the wall; Mr. and Mrs. Weasley follow]
- Mr. Weasley: After you, dear. [Mrs. Weasley disappears through the wall; Mr. Weasley goes in immediately after her]
- Mrs. Weasley: [meeting up with Ginny as she stands by the Hogwarts Express, which is just about ready to go] Come on, Ginny. We'll get you a seat. Hurry! [the three run for the train; outside, only Harry and Ron are left]
- Harry: [turning to Ron] Let's go.
[Ron nods; then the two boys push their carts directly for the wall. However, instead of going through the wall, Harry inexplicably crashes into it and falls over; Ron loses control of his cart, and falls over as well. A station agent, the same man Harry saw a year ago, notices while speaking to a woman, and approaches Harry and Ron as they get to their feet, groaning from their slight injuries.]
Ted gasped. "No way. They missed the train?!"
"How are they going to get to Hogwarts?!" James squawked. Narcissa frowned.
"I'm sure that he finds a way...or, they wait for the professors to find a way to get them to Hogwarts." She explained. Remus scoffed.
"Oh yeah, the child of Prongs make a logical decision...no shot." He stated.
"Oi!"
Station Agent: Oy! What do you two think you're doing?
Harry: Sorry. Lo-lost control of the trolley. [the agent shakes his head at them and walks away; Harry glances at Ron] Why can't we get through?
Ron: I don't know. [touching the wall with his hand, discovering the bricks have become solid] The gateway's sealed itself for some reason. [Harry touches the wall to see that it's completely solid]
Harry: [hearing a clock chime, he and Ron look up at a nearby clock displaying the time 11:00] The train leaves at exactly 11:00. We've missed it!
Ron: [glancing at the clock in horror, then turning to Harry] Harry... if we can't get through, maybe mom and dad can't get back.
Harry: [trying to decide what to do about their dilemma] Maybe we should just go and wait by the car.
Ron: [the sound of these words suddenly gives him an idea] The car... [Harry glances at him, wondering what he's got in mind]
"Huh," Remus started. "I stand corrected. It was Ron who came up with the idea." Lily twiddled her fingers worriedly.
"Do either of them know how to drive a flying car?"
[The car takes off, shooting into the sky. A muggle watches; confused and fascinated.]
Harry: Ron, I should tell you, most muggles aren't accustomed to seeing a flying car.
Severus glared at the screen. "Way to 'state the obvious.'" He drawled. Sirius scowled at him.
Ron: Uhh... right. [He hits a silver button on the controls panel which turns the car invisible.]
"Neat trick."
[The car becomes visible again as they sail over the clouds.]
Ron: Oh, no. The invisibility booster must be faulty.
Narcissa frowned. "How-what?"
Harry: Well, come on, then, let's go lower. We need to find the train.
Sirius threw his hands up in the air. "At that point, just drive to Hogwarts!" Remus hit him on the side of the head.
"Idiot, they don't know where Hogwarts is!"
"It's a fucking castle, if you're within like 25 miles of it, you'll see it!"
Ron: Okay. [He pulls the reverse gear and turns the wheel. They start to lower. They lower the car until it's inside the train tracks.]
Lily paused. "That's a little low." She stated. Marlene nodded.
"If the train isn't ahead of them then they're fucked."
Harry: Now all we need to do is catch up with the train.
Ron: We can't be far behind. [In the distance, they can hear a train approaching.]
Sirius smiled. "Fantastic! They're near the train." Severus rolled his eyes.
"They're definitely 'near the train.'" He deadpanned. Sirius frowned.
"What am I missing?" He asked. Remus let out a gasp.
"No fucking way." He said. James looked up.
"What? What is it?"
Remus simply pointed to the screen.
Harry: Do you hear that?
Ron: We must be getting close.
Harry: Hold on... [They exchange frightened looks. They both look behind them and the Hogwarts train is right there.]
Ron and Harry: AHHH!
"Holy mother of Merlin!"
"What the hell!?"
"OH MY FUCKI-"
"Why is it always them?"
"Who's bright idea was it for them to take a fucking car?!"
[The Hogwarts train is on the car's trail, only a few feet behind. Both boys continue screaming. Eventually Ron veers to the left.]
Sirius started catching his breath. "Merlin, Harry's almost been killed and school hasn't even started yet!"
Lily nodded. "He gets- the gene of stupidity- from you!" She yelled. James held up his hands.
"It was technically Ron's idea, not Harry's!" He defended. Lily shook her finger at him.
"Harry went along with the completely idiotic idea. That's your side of the family!"
Severus smirked. Not many things made him more happy than James getting in trouble, nonetheless by Lily.
[The car starts tumbling, with both boys still screaming. The car door then opens and Harry falls out, barely holding onto the door.]
Ron: HARRY!
James shrieked. "Merlin help me!" Lily had her face buried into a pillow. She kept repeating: "Oh my god. Oh my- oh my god."
[Harry hung on as the wind blew furiously at him. He then grabbed both hands onto the side of the car door.]
Ron: HOLD ON!
"Hold on?" Sirius asked incredulously. "What else is he supposed to do?! Let go?!"
Ron: TAKE MY HAND! [Harry struggled and manages to get ahold of Ron's hand. Harry's hand then fell out of Ron's hand and back into the air.]
Remus was clutching Sirius tightly. "Oh for god's sake, HE CAN'T BE THAT HARD TO HOLD ONTO!" He yelled. Everybody was in different stages of panic; Marlene and Lily both had their heads in pillows, muttering indistinct phrases. Mary, Sirius, and Peter seemed to be in shock, just simply staring at the screen in horror. Narcissa and Regulus, though they maintained their usual amount of stoicism, held each other's hands; the only gesture betraying their true emotions. Alice and Frank were clutching each other, and Andromeda and Ted looked quite the same. Bellatrix, however, looked fully entertained. She had a slightly mad glint in her eye, and seemed to be one second short from having a good laugh. Severus Snape, who one might thing would enjoy his rival's son being put through the wringer, had a worried look on his face. Despite the abundance amount of James in the boy, Snape thought that there was too much Lily in him for Snape to be able to hate him.
Ron: HOLD ON!
Harry: I'M TRYING. YOUR HAND'S ALL SWEATY. [Their hands touched a few more times, before finally locking. With great strength and effort, Ron hauled Harry back into the car.]
Almost everyone breathed a sigh of relief. James ran a hand through his hair.
"That was too close."
[Both boys breathed heavily for a moment.]
Harry: I think we found the train.
Ron: Yeah. [Ron drove the car further to the side of the train. The scene soon dissolved, and now the car was driving over the lake at Hogwarts.
Ron: [glancing at the castle with a smile as he turns to face Harry] Welcome home. [Harry smiles, happy to be back at Hogwarts after such an unpleasant summer. The car engine suddenly seized up.]
"What?!" Lily shrieked. "I thought they were fine!"
[The car flies alongside Hogwarts, shaking and trembling. The car suddenly spiraled downwards.]
Harry: Up! Up! [Ron presses the pedals.]
Ron: It's not working!
Harry: UUUUP! Mind that tree! [Ron took out his wand.]
Ron: Stop, stop, stop!! [As the wand hits the steering wheel, it breaks.]
Gasps go out throughout the room.
"His- his wand!" Peter squeaked. Sirius took his wand out of his back pocket and caressed it lovingly.
"That will never happen to you baby." He promised it, and kissed it slightly. Remus shook his head.
"I have to share my position as his boyfriend with a fucking wand."
[Ron stared in horror at his wand, however he didn't have much time to waste looking at it, as a massive tree was nearing before them.]
Remus stared at the screen, his face paling. He recognized that tree, after all, he goes there every full moon. They planted it for him. "If they get hit by the tree..." Remus murmured.
"It won't be your fault." Sirius whispered back earnestly. "It wasn't your decision to plant that tree. It was Hogwarts'. They knew the risks."
[Ron screamed as they hit the tree, leaves and branches flying everywhere. Once they hit it, the car starts leaning backwards towards the ground. They hit branches on their way down, before they finally settled.]
Ron: My wand. Look at my wand.
Harry: Be thankful it's not your neck. [With a crash the car moves again. A sort of growl can be heard.]
Ron: What's happening?
Harry: I don't know. [All of sudden branches come flying at them, hitting the car in many directions.]
With each hit Remus flinched. It was his fault, he thought. His fault, his fault hisfaulthisfaulthisfault.
Sirius rubbed his shoulder. "Its not your fault." Sirius claimed.
[The next hit broke the window shield, and they both screamed. The tree then broke the back window.]
Lily again had her face buried in a pillow, this time, James joined her; both refusing to look up at the screen.
[The car kept getting hit, damaging it further. A window shattered onto Ron, who kept screaming. With one final push, the tree shoved Ron and Harry from it, who started to fall.]
Ron and Harry: AHH! [The car fell with a thud.]
Harry: Come on! Go! Fast! [Ron starts the engine and drives, narrowly avoiding a finishing hit.]
Everyone collectively breathed a sigh of relief, hoping that the worst was over.
"Why is that stupid tree even here in the first place?!" Marlene questioned. "It could really hurt someone!" Remus flushed and looked down in shame.
[The tree helps itself up, and slowly regains it's normal shape and form. Both boys look in relief at the other. Suddenly the car doors burst open, and throw the boys out. Next the trunk opens and spills out all of their luggage. Lastly, Hedwig and Scabbers get thrown out to their respective owners.]
Ron: Scabbers! You're okay!
[The car then closes it's doors and starts to pull away.]
Ron: The car!
[Both boys follow the car throughout the Hogwarts grounds, until the car goes past Hagrid's hut. It drives off into the distance.]
Ron: Dad's going to kill me.
Ted nodded. "That he is."
