3-Sept
Dear Mum and Dad
I was sorted into Hufflepuff!
I have made lots of friends already. Hopefully some will be very close friends. You met Geoff when we went to the Magizoo. I have also made friends with Nicholas, Elizabeth, Georgia, Katherine and her twin brother Sean, Lyra, and Susan.
My first day of classes was good. Get this, we did a muggle math test in Arthimancy!
Really, there isn’t much to tell you yet, but the castle is beautiful! I wish you could come see.
I’ll write more soon, but it’s time for bed.
Lots of hugs!
Ava

Hi Lottie!
I had my first day of school today. My first class is an etiquette class. We practiced proper greetings as a way to get to know each other. For example I should curtesy to greet you and say, “Hello Miss. Whitby. How are you this evening?” And then you would greet me back with a courtesy, too, and respond (even if you are not having a good day) with “I am doing quite well, Miss. Moore, thank you!”
During the next class we played a game where we had to guess where things were hiding. I didn’t do very well, but it was fun.
At lunch, I sat with a few kids our age. None of them are you, nor could they replace you, but I hope that some of them can be half as good of friends as you. I miss you so much!
After lunch, we had a gardening class and a maths class. We had a pop quiz on the first day of maths! I think I passed with flying colors, though.
How was your first day of school?
Write back soon!
Your very best friend,
Ava
