A chance to make things right?

Harry, after buying the correct potions to make sure he was back to his full strength, apparated to the last place he saw his parents alive: Godric's Hollow.

Unfortunately, by the time he got there, it was too late.

It really shouldn't surprise Harry; he should have guessed that his terrible luck would strike again.

However, that doesn't make it hurt any less. After all, he could have met his parents in person and at least some version of him would get to grow up with parents that loved him.

He walked through the already open front door. The house looked different when it hadn't been neglected for years. He looked around and took in the house that his parents tried to survive in. He was alerted to a child's desperate cries from up the stairs.

He still remembered how dangerous it was to let your past self see your future self. After all, Hermione had drilled it into his head that 'terrible things happen to wizards who mess with time, Harry'. Despite all that though, he couldn't find it in himself to care enough. His past self, a one-year-old, had just witnessed his mother die in front of him. Someone had attempted to murder him. He still remembers parts of that fateful day so it makes sense that the baby would be traumatized.

He walked up the stairs, mentally preparing himself for seeing the dead bodies of his parents. It wasn't nearly long enough before he saw the lifeless body of his father, lying across the stairs. His eyes teared up as he thought about how brave his father was at that moment and how his father must have really loved his mother and him. He had clearly tried to protect them by being the first to face Voldemort.

Even though he wanted to stay and hold his father's body he knew what he had to do. And so, with that in mind, he continued on up the stairs.

It isn't hard to find his mother and him. The top half of the house had been destroyed in a clearly powerful blast. He walked up and into the room where his mother was lay on the floor. He would have assumed she was sleeping if her eyes weren't open and her son wasn't wailing loudly in distress.

He walked over to the cot where he sat with tears glistening in his eyes. He lifted the poor child up and held him securely, As he did this, he reached into his bag and pulled out his invisibility cloak.

Harry always had his invisibility cloak to hand. It is invaluable when he is on missions and he never knows when he might need it. Just like now. He can't let anyone see him leave or someone will definitely find out he kidnapped a child.

He hangs it on the bar of the cot and surveys the room. As a child, he never had any toys or clothes from when he lived with his parents.

He gathers everything that hadn't been destroyed and puts it into his bag. He wasn't worried about the weight or being able to fit everything in because of the charms that kept it light and spacious. After that he wrapped the cloak around himself and little Harry and looked for anything else of use. He took all of his parents' clothes and possessions that were still intact and said a brief but needed goodbye to the parents he had never truly known.

As he was gathering things from the downstairs part of the house, he heard someone run inside.

He froze where he stood and cast a wordless spell to silence baby Harry.

He carefully and quietly crept outside and away from the house. His instincts told him to wait outside though.

It was then that he realised that there was a motorcycle in front of the house. One that looked exactly like the one he had seen Hagrid ride around on. This confused Harry though because the person he saw definitely wasn't Hagrid.

It was only mere minutes before he got his answer.

Someone who looked exactly like a young Sirius Black ran frantically out of the house.

Any other person in this scenario would have thought that Sirius was upset because he had just seen his brother and sister die.

Harry knew better.

Of course, Sirius was distraught that James and Lily Potter were dead but this was a panic that Harry recognised.

Sirius didn't know what had happened to Harry,

Voldemort was after Harry and his body wasn't there.

Harry could practically see the millions of questions that were swarming his mind and plaguing his thoughts.

He knew that he couldn't do anything for the moment though. As much as it pained him to see his Godfather look that way, he knew there would be no stopping him acting out in his grief. Sirius was mourning. If Harry took off an invisibility cloak just like James' and revealed that he, a random stranger that too much like James, had taken harry, there was no knowing how Sirius would react. It was too much of a risk that Harry wasn't going to take.

He watched as grim determination painted his Godfather's features. Just before he was about to apparate away, he grabbed a gentle but firm hold of his robes.

He watched as Sirius confronted Pettigrew but stayed to the side, rocking baby Harry until it was time for his part.

After Pettigrew had cut his finger off, he cast the spell that would bind his entire body together with anti-animagus ropes. He wouldn't be able to escape those ropes. Harry had made sure of that after particularly hate-filled summers after his third and fifth year, where he learned a large variety of new spells to specifically target Pettigrew. Although, admittedly, some of those were a lot nicer than others. It would be best for the rat to keep his sanity long enough for him to be found guilty though,

Now however, he had a different problem, in the form of a murderous-looking Sirius Black,

'Well', Harry thought, 'this will be fun to explain.'
