If Only It Had Gone According To Plan
Summary
What if Sirius Black had a fair trial. Wolfstar and Mary Macdonald raise Harry. Hermione Granger and Harry Potter as childhood friends. LGBTQ+ is relatively normalised in the wizarding world (except for some of the old pure blood families). The first few chapters are quite sad then the rest is tooth rotting fluff. Everyone lives in this AU<3
Note
(Taking a little break from this fic I will still be writing but I kinda hit some writers block with this so I’ll continue writing this story hopefully in the near future)Ik this is an unoriginal story plot but give it a chance, I'm really proud of it! I am Dyslexic, spellcheck can only do so much, so if you see an error politely tell me in the comments so I can change it. The first few chapters are low key kinda depressing so take care of urselves. I'm gonna try to post a new chapter like once a week<3

22 At A Funeral

November 3 1981

“Happy birthday Sirius.” Remus said gently, rubbing Sirius' back to wake him up.
“I’m not celebrating this year Moony.” Sirius groaned, burying his head in the sheets.
“It’s your birthday. Your favorite day of the year.” Remus said, trying to convince him, though Remus wasn’t in much of a mood to celebrate either. Sirius hadn’t gotten out of bed much the past few days, Remus was hoping he would today. Just for today.
“Not this year, Moony”
“It’s a day all about you.” Remus wasn’t doing a great job at being encouraging, and Sirius got annoyed and snapped.
“Yeah, and my best friend died three days ago, two days ago I was on trial for his murder, and we’re barring them tomorrow! So sorry if I'm not in a very celebratory mood!” Sirius said with rage, he wasn’t even mad at Remus.
“They were my friends too!” Remus Retorted. He didn’t want to start an argument, not with Harry taking a nap in the room just outside. Remus took a deep breath and continued. “I’m sorry all this happened around your day Padfoot .”

November 4

It was a gray cloudy day. It didn’t rain a drop but it was a sorrowful day. It was a nice day for a funeral if it didn’t rain. Sirius had zoned out through the whole service, holding Harry tightly until, “Mr. Black? their wands.” Sirius reluctantly handed Harry to Remus and took out the wands of two of his best friends, he handed them to the man conducting the burial. Sirius wanted to keep James’ wand, maybe Harry could use it when he was old enough. Lily never wanted her wand to be buried with her. Lily always thought the Idea of burring wands was a waste of ‘Perfectly good magic’ she always said. Sirius didn’t have the strength or energy to argue with anyone, because it was ‘tradition’.

“It was a lovely service, Sirius.” Dumbledore said as he approached them from the back.
“Sirius don’t-” Remus tried to hold him back but he was still holding Harry.
“What are you even doing here?” Sirius said with such sorrow and hurt. “You're the reason they're dead. You're the reason only five people are here! Because they're the five people left alive! No thanks to you sending barely legal wizards on suicide missions!” He yelled, causing a scene. Not that there were enough people to call it a scene.
“Sirius, that's enough!” Remus continued.
“No! It’s not, we barely even made it out alive and Harry almost didn’t. All of our friends, our family buried in unmarked graves because everyone they knew were ether dead, missing, or on a suicide mission ordered by you! Unable to claim them.” Sirius couldn’t look at Dumbledore, so they walked away. His little brother, Regulus, was one of the unmarked graves, actually Sirius didn’t even know if they ever found his body.
“You were supposed to protect us.” Remus finished for Sirius, and followed after him.
