Lily Evans

It’s now night and lily is laying in her bed alone. She's counting her breaths going in and out, the only thing playing in her thoughts are Mary.

Her lips connected with mine. The three words “I love you”have been ringing in Lilys ears since.

She can’t sleep, it comes over her, her brain wont stop. Lily sits up, moving her hair from her face and grabs her glasses.

The girl decides to make her way to the common room. As she leaves her room her eyes meet with Mary, sleeping peacefully, it makes Lily's heart flutter.

Evans sits on one of the few couches in the common room and sits alone with her thoughts.

“Lily?'' She hears in a familiar voice, but Lily can't make out who called her name, she turns her head and her eyes meet with James potter. Whos making his way down from his dormitory stairs.

“You again?” Lily asks.

James rolls his eyes, jokingly.

“What are you doing up?” He asks , moving closer to lily.

“Cant sleep”

“No book?”

“No, did you just come down here to ask questions?” Lily questions.

James shakes his head and adjusts his glasses.

“Then what?”

“Uhm, i was just about to leave” James takes his eyes off of lily.

Lily furrows her eyebrows.

“Why?”

“Well did you come down here to just ask me questions?” James repeats lilys question.

“Yes actually” Lily jokes.

James jumps over the couch and sits down.

Lily rolls her eyes “That wasn't and invitation, and you shouldn't jump over the couch like that”

“I know, mum would say just the same if she saw” James laughs.

“Were you going to meet up with someone?” Lily questions .

James rubs the back of his neck.

“Ha ! you were” Lily points.

“What!?, no, no , i wasn't.”

Lily glares at him, and the two sit in silence.

“Okay I was,” James confessed.

“Knew it”

“But you can't tell anyone I mean it, he- she! Doesn't want anyone to know”

He?

It hits Lily just then, it all makes sense, the leaving in the middle of the night, being standoffish, the random disappearing.

If Mary were not in the same house I'd be the same, Lily ponders.

“He?” Lily raises her eyebrows.

James widens his eyes, and it makes James' glasses fall down his nose.

“It's okay James, you can tell me” Lily whispers.

James looks in several different directions never making eye contact with Lily.

“James, can I tell you a secret?”

James nods. Lily moves closer and cups her hands to james ear, and whispers the words “I'm the same, just with a girl” Lily backs away.

James jaw drops, Lily bites her lip in nervousness, of what she had just told him .

“You are?” James whispers softly.

Lily nods, “is that okay?”

“Yeah” James smiles warmly.

“So, he?”

“Yeah,” James nods his head again.

“Well then you should go”

“Where” James furrows his brows.

“To go see him” Lily moves her hand to her forehead.

“Alright” james smiles “ thank you lily”

‘Don't get caught” she points her finger at him.

“Okay” he gives her a thumbs up.

Lily shakes her head at his immaturity .

A week later, It's the morning before holiday break, and she still hasn't spoken to Mary , the two of them had just exchanged awkward glances. Lily never thought of what to do after to do this, she never even thought this would ever happen.

“Are you staying ?” Lily asks.

“Yup “ Remus says, eating his toast.

“Really?”

“We don't want you to stay moony,” Sirius pouts. Remus sighs.

“Why don't you come to mine, my mum wont mind” James adds.

“ No its fine, don't feel like talking to people this holiday season “ Remus says bluntly

Remus’s Mother had died last holiday, and Lily thinks Remus is avoiding going back home.

“Do you want me to stay with you moony?” Sirius asks .

Remus looks at Lily , and his face says everything Lily needs to know.

“It’s alright Remus I’m staying” she answers.

“ you are?” Asks Remus, Sirius, James, Peter, Marlene and Mary.

Lily widens her eyes, “uh yeah”

“Why?” Mary asks, leaning over the other side of the table. Lily's stomach twists at the sound of Mary's voice. She can’t seem to form words.

“Mum told me not to come,” Lily says blankly, her voice dull .

Last time Lily was home her mother had told her not to come home at all. Her sister is dating this prick and Lily had made a comment on it, and Petunia got so upset mother sided with her. Lily just doesn’t want the drama so she decided to listen to what she said over summer holiday and not come home. She can feel a hand on her back, Remus’s comforts her. Lily smiles and lays her head on Remus’s shoulder . She looks back to Mary and she is looking between Remus and Lily, giving a look of heartache. Lily reads her face and lifts her head up.

“See You guys later” she stands up, heading to her dorm.

Lily enters her dorm and just plummets on her bed, staring at her ceiling, lily comes to the conclusion of what she has to do. But just as she sits up, the door opens.

“Look Lily” it’s Mary. “Are you ignoring me? Because I can’t handle not talking to you, if you want to forget about the kiss then fine , I just want you to talk to me” Mary rambles.

“I thought you were ignoring me” lily states moving her curly hair behind her ear, just for it to spring back out.

“You did?” Mary furrows her brows and her lips vice downwards.

“Yeah” Lily responds lightly.

Mary laughs, and brings a hand up to her face. “God you make me mental” Mary moves her hand to her side and locks eyes with lily.

Lily can’t help but smile .

“I really like you lily, I didn’t know I had these feelings, but since I found out it’s been driving me crazy “ Mary edges closer. Until she is standing just in front of Lily, looking down at her. “And you feel the same way?” Mary asks.

Lily can’t seem to speak a single word. Her heart is racing too fast, so she just nods her head. Mary moves both of her hands to lilys cheeks, “I really like you “ she repeats.

Lily can feel her face start to heat up . Mary kneels down so her face is leveled with hers , just inches from Lily's face.

Marys breath is hitting lily's face and it sends shivers down her spine.

Just kiss me.

Kiss me.

Mary's lips connect with Lily’s, and it feels even more magical than the first time.

Lily moves her hands up to Mary’s face, as her lips move in since with Mary’s. She hears the door open, but doesn’t think much of it. She just continues focusing on her Mary.

“Fina- fucking-lly “ Marlene claps.

Mary and lilys, lips disconnect from each other, they turn their heads to her.

“Told ya lils! Ah they grow up so fast “ Marlene brings a hand to her chest, and pouts her lips. “Thought you guys would never actually open your eyes”

“Told you what?" Mary asks.

“Shes known I liked you for a while “

“Of course she did” Mary teases .

“This isn’t even when she realized marls” lily adds.

“Wait what?” Marlene questions.

“We kissed like over a week ago “ Lily shrugs.

Marlene's jaw drops “And you didn’t tell me!”

“We just finally talked about it “ Lily defends.

“Didn't look like you guys were doing a whole lot talking” Marlene teases, making a kissing face.

“Oh my god, get out” Mary points to the door.

“Alright alright, I just came up here to tell you we leave in like ten minutes so chop chop” Marlene rushes to her bed, and grabs her suitcase.

“Love ya lils see you after break !” She yells while walking to the door.

“Love you too marls”

She turns to face the two of them. “Mary ten minutes “ she points a finger.

“Okay mom “ Mary rolls her eyes.

Marlene doesn’t respond and pointsher finger to lily then back to Mary.

“ Marlene I’m not kidding “ Mary groans

“Alright I’m going “ Marlene winks, and turns around shutting the door.

“Now , “ Mary whips her head back around to face lily. “Where were we”

Lily giggles.

“That sounded cooler in my head,” Mary adds.

Mary sits next to Lily in the bed. She looks at Lily for a moment, noticing every blemish on her face. Lily almost wants to cover her face from embarrassment.

But Mary speaks again before she can. “When did you start liking me lils?”

“I don’t really know, I just felt it” Lily presses her lips into a flat line.

“Yeah, but when?”

“Uh- a couple years ago “ she says finally bringing her hands to her face.

Mary grabs her wrists,  “Really?” She brings lily's wrists to her lap.

“Stop it’s embarrassing “ Lily can feel her heart in her chest.

“It is not, it’s sweet” Mary defends.

“Don’t you have to go?” Lily adds, changing the subject.

“You want me to go?” Mary teases.

“No” Mary kisses lily's forehead. Lily can feel her lips perk up into a smile.

“I do have to go though, mum will cut my throat if I miss holidays,  yknow how my holiday dinners are “

"I don’t want you to go” Lily whispers

“I don’t want to either “ Mary brings her lips to lilys left cheek, then her right, she plants another on her nose, then back down to her lips.

“I love you” lily mutters into the kiss.

She can feel Mary smile on her lips, “I love you too” she replies. “Now stop distracting me” Mary moves away from the kiss, standing back up onto her feet

Mary still holds onto Lily's wrists.

“See you in two weeks?” Lily asks. Mary nods. “Good” Lily replies.

Mary releases lilys wrists and moves to her bed , grabbing her suitcase, she looks back to lily. Who is admiring her from afar. “You are making it very hard to leave, but I’ve got like five minutes to get to the train” Mary adjusts her suitcase, she walks back over to Lily and leans down and kisses her again, moving her hair behind an ear.

Lily moves her hand to Marys face, “now go” Lily smiles.

“Just another for good luck” Mary grins. Lily brings Mary’s face to hers, planting a kiss on Mary’s lips, “Okay, okay, go “ Lily insists “ Okay” Mary brings up her free hand and places it on her cheek where lily's hand lays.

Mary walks to the door , and her eyes connect with Lily just as she leaves.  “Bye lils”

“Bye Mary” . Mary leaves, and Lily feels as her heart left with her, she lays back on her bed, and stares back at the ceiling.

Lily places a hand on her lips, where Mary’s once more, and closes her eyes.

And all she can see is Mary.
