Introductions & Impressions
“Okay, first thing's first, who the actual fuck are you?” James asked, facing those who reside in Hawkins.
“Question I could ask you,” Jonathan replied.
“James Potter,” James pointed to himself, “Lily Evans, Marlene McKinnon, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew. And that’d be all of us.”
“Jonathan Byers,” He extended his hand towards James. James shook it. “That’s Will, then Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, and Lucas Sinclair. And Nancy Wheeler & Steve Harrington.” He muttered the last words.
“So, where exactly are we then?” Lily asked.
“Hawkins..?” Nancy said. “You know, Hawkins, Indiana?”
“Like the American city Indiana?” Peter asked, though mostly to the Marauders.
“State,” Sirius corrected.
“That,” Peter replied, though visibly confused.
“Okay this is great and all, but we gotta go, Nance,” Steve reminded his date.
“Yeah, maybe your parents won’t hate me so much if we get there in time. Nice meeting you all!” Nancy said before she and Steve took off towards where the sign said Hawkins was. Jonathan was eyeing them with invisible jealousy.
“Well, I think you guys should come back to my house,” Mike said.
“Are you insane?” Dustin asked Mike in a whisper. “Total strangers, but yeah, we should let them into your house with us. That’s a great idea.”
“I know, right?” Mike asked, the sarcasm displaying his distaste for Dustin’s opinion.
“I mean, I think we should, seeing as we are in a different continent, different time zone,” (Sirius glanced at his watch; it was supposed to be 6 pm but the sun was telling a different story.) “And an entirely new country, what option do we have?” Sirius’s words were enough to convince the disheveled and confused Hogwarts students.
“Okay, I guess we’re doing that then. Not the oldest and most responsible here or anything,” Jonathan said to the group of 12- and 13-year-olds.
“And what do YOU propose we do?” Will asked his older brother.
“I say we take them to the Wheelers,” Jonathan suggested jokingly.
“Amazing idea. So, shall we start walking?” Mike asked.
It took little time for smaller groups to develop. Jonathan was walking slightly behind everyone else, while James had landed right in front with Sirius and Mike. Lily, Marlene, Lucas, and Will were also walking together, with Dustin lagging behind but occasionally contributing to small talk. Remus and Peter were on the other side of the road.
“So this is what America looks like? Always wanted to take a trip,” Sirius said to Mike and James.
“This is nothing,” Mike said. “You should see the big cities like Manhattan or Washington. They’re real America, y’know?”
It seemed to only take five minutes to walk to Mike’s house, as everyone was so enthralled in their conversations.
“This is my place. There are a few rules though,” Mike said to get a feel for a reaction.
“And those would be?” Lily asked.
“One, my parents and my little sister can’t see you. And two, be back by nine if you plan on going out,” Mike said.
“Fair enough,” Remus said.
“So, you guys play D&D?” Lucas asked.
“Hell yeah!” Sirius said.
“I mean, I know the basics,” Remus replied.
“You guys know how to play dungeons and dragons? Never would have guessed,” James inquired.
“Mum hates it. It’s great,” Sirius told his best mate.
“We have a campaign planned for today. Maybe you guys can watch and join in next time?”
“Sounds great!” Sirius said.
