Goodbye Hogwarts ~ 1899
Chapter 1: Goodbye Hogwarts ~ 1899
*Albus*
Albus was packing in the boys dormitory in Gryffindor Tower. It was his last day of Hogwarts and as sad it was to be leaving, he was also very excited as he will be travelling around Europe with Elphias.
Albus looked around the room to make sure he didn’t leave anything behind when Elphias barged into the room.
"Still packing then?" Elphias asked with a smile while walking towards Albus.
"Yes I’m just making sure I don’t leave anything behind" Albus said as he waved his wand to pack his jumpers into his trunk.
"Well don’t take too long the train will be leaving in an hour" Elphias replied.
"Yeah yeah I won’t be long. I’ll meet you down at the great hall when I’m finished, okay?"
"Okay just promise me you won’t be late?"
"I promise" Albus said while rolling his eyes and then turning towards Elphias to give him a nudge. "I’ll be down in 10 minutes."
Elphias nods with a smile as he walked toward the dorm door and opens it "See you in 10." The door closes behind him.
Albus tucks his last bits of his belongings into his trunk and shuts it with one big push. Next he will have to grab his owl Arctus and put him in his cage.
Arctus was near the window tapping on the glass with his beak as if he wanted to fly Hogwarts grounds one last time.
Albus walks over to Arctus and picked him up and rested him onto his arm. Then Albus walked over to his bed.
"It’s time to get in your cage now" Albus said while stroking Arctus under his beak.
He put Arctus into his cage and then took one last glance around the room. This was goodbye to a place that felt more like home than his own home. He started to feel sadness wash over him.
It’s time to find a home somewhere new. Somewhere I can be happy and achieve great things.
"It’s time to go" Albus whispered to Arctus as he grabbed the cage and his trunk.
Albus and Elphias board The Hogwarts Express train and walk through the carriages trying to find an empty compartment.
They find one empty and and pull there luggage into the compartment.
"So we have the weekend to pack for our trip and to double check everything is booked and planned properly" Albus said while taking a seat next to the window.
"I have the port key prepared for Monday morning at 9" Elphias nodded and took a seat opposite to Albus. "And I double checked all the bookings and accommodations. Everything is to plan."
Albus was relieved. He was so glad that it weren’t only him taking this planning seriously. He didn’t want anything to go wrong.
"Okay well we will meet at the Hogs Head Inn on Sunday at 7:30pm. Two rooms are booked so we will get up early for breakfast and head over to the port key for 9" Albus muttered. "Hopefully nothing will spoil our plans."
"Don’t worry nothing will" Elphias said with a smirk. "Your such a worry wart. You need to relax, this time Monday we will be in Europe travelling the continent."
Albus smiled to himself.
Not long now and I’ll be free.
*Train Whistle*
Albus leapt from his seat and screamed with confusion as he was startled from the train whistle.
I must of dozed off without realising.
Elphias looked at Albus with amusing eyes and then blurted out a laugh.
Albus pushed him jokingly "You won’t find it funny if i jinxed you."
Elphias raised one eyebrow "I’ll like to see you try."
"You’ll know I’ll win right?" Albus smirked. He was the best in his school, well that’s what he was told by the professors at Hogwarts.
Elphias laughed but then changed the subject quickly. "I think we better get off this train before it leaves with us on it"
Albus grabs his belongings and opens the compartment door. The train was full of students saying there goodbyes and grabbing there belongings. Albus and Elphias had to squeeze through and dodge other students in order to get off the train.
As soon as they were on the platform 9 3/4 Elphias stopped and turned around to look at Albus "So I’ll meet you at the Hogs Head Inn on Sunday." He smirked "If you don’t turn up I would of assumed your brother Aberforth has held you captive and would have to inform the Ministry of Magic straight away."
Albus let a laugh slip. "Don’t worry I think Aberforth will be pleased to see the back of me. I’ll see you Sunday."
Elphias patted Albus on the back as he grabbed his trunk and set off into the crowd. Albus grabbed his belongings and he set off to look for Aberforth which was very hard considering there were crowds of parents greeting their children.
He started to walk along when he started to hear shouting. The more he listened the more he thought it sounded like Aberforth.
"DONT YOU FUCKING TOUCH MY CAT!"
Yep. That’s defiantly Aberforth.
Aberforth was insanely protective over his cat. He would not let anyone touch it or even in a few feet of it.
What is he doing now. He’s always starting trouble.
Albus caught sight of Aberforth being confronted by Slytherins fifth years. Albus was about to intervene but Aberforth just grabbed his trunk and cat and stormed off.
"ABERFORTH!" Albus shouted over the crowd.
Albus had to run to catch up with him.
"There you are. I’ve been looking for you everywhere" Aberforth muttered. "I was about to fucking leave."
"Well you would of had to walk home considering your not of age to apparate" Albus smirked.
"Okay don’t get to cocky or I’ll jinx that smirk off your face" Grunted Aberforth.
Albus took hold of Aberforth’s arm and apparating them into their kitchen at home.
The first thing that noticed was the mess. There was pots and pans scattered all over the floor and the windows was smashed. The cupboards were hanging off there hinges and the dining table was split in two.
Albus put down his belongings and drew his wand. Aberforth followed suit.
"What in merlins beard has happened here?" cried Aberforth.
"Shhhh" Albus hissed as he scanned his eyes around the room.
The mess. Something really bad has happened here.
Albus made his way out of the kitchen and towards the stairs with Aberforth following closely behind him.
All the photo frames that once decorated the walls up the stairs were now littering it instead.
He tiptoed as quietly as he could up the stairs, trying not to step on any glass. When he reached the top he could hear sobbing and it was coming from Ariana’s room. Albus looked at Aberforth whose face looked as pale as a ghost. They both knew it was bad.
Ariana’s door was slightly open, hanging from its hinges, as he walked over to it and pushed it open slowly.
What he saw next was something that would haunt him for the rest of his life. His sister was crying all scrunched up in the corner as his mum laid dead on the bedroom floor.
Aberforth walked up beside Albus and fell to his knees and cried out “Mum.”
Albus walked slowly towards his Mum to see if she was alive. The state of her and the room was so horrendous that he didn’t believe she could of survived. It was obvious how it happened. Ariana must of had an outburst and loss control.
Albus dropped to her side and reached for her neck to check for a pulse. There wasn’t one. She was dead.
All he could do was cradle her as he sobbed while he also cried out “Mum.”
Life will never be the same again.
