A Not So Merry Unbirthday
Yuu blinked himself to awareness, groaning at the harsh light from the window and the slight throbbing in his head, Shoto smiling as he finished opening up the curtains and floated over.
“Hello!”
‘Too early,” Yuu grumbled, rolling over into a burrito and ignoring the ghost who chuckled before he grabbed the end and pulled.
Yuu yelped as he was lifted into the air before he was freezing cold and slammed back into the plush bed he was in a moment before, staring at the ghost with annoyed glare before he sat up and rubbed his head.
‘We don’t even have classes,” he grumbled, rubbing his head to get the dull ache to go away.
“But you heard those girls talking about you and are going to sulk the entire day! And I bet you didn’t even tell your friends,” Shoto accused Yuu, narrowing his eyes at him.
“...” He didn't answer, crossing his arms as the ghost went about fixing up the room and folding his blanket. “Get dressed and visit some of your friends. You have me and the gang here to watch over these girls!”
“...Fine.” Yuu sighed, getting up to get himself dressed as Shoto smiled and finished making his bed for him.
The ghosts are always babying him!
Shoto hummed as he went about cleaning the room, Yuu having a bad bout with insomnia it seemed as he stayed up until 3 before sleep decided to grace him that night. Shoto turned around to place some papers back on his desk only to stop and become somber at the sight of Yuu.
His back was to him but he could see the surgery scars from the various surgeries that he had to endure for not only his back that was damaged during the S.T.Y.X and Malleus incident but also during the mob that came to the school after the mirror incident, people angry at Crowley and demanding to speak to him
The boy had been trampled and had his ribs broken…not bruised, but broken.
He had to be rushed into emergency surgery to get them repaired as people tried to attack Crowley, not realizing they had nearly killed an innocent. Yuu had recovered well enough, Vil and the Kingscholar family using their influence to get him the best care, along with Malleus using magic and the Shrouds providing the equipment but still…
Yuu was in a delicate state that needed to be monitored, as much as he hated it.
“Should I go with black or…gray,” Yuu murmured, looking at the two shirts before shrugging and choosing black, as it was in line with his house's colors. Black and white. “...Do I want white pants though?”
He really was becoming like Vil…
Shaking his head he grabbed his black pants with his tri buckle belt, he put his boots on with a grunt and moved to leave the room only to stop. He grabbed his watch, attaching it with his usual grace before tapping a small heart icon and slumping at the indication of no movement.
“Grim didn’t move,” Shoto guessed, Yuu nodding as he left the room without another word, heading down to the kitchen and nodding as he saw that no one was up.
…Well…it was only 6 am…
Shaking his head he entered the kitchen moving to the cupboard to grab his usual cup and moved to the coffeemaker to get himself some decaf that Vil allowed him, while the machine worked it’s magic he opened his phone to a plethora of drunken texts from his friends.
He snickered at the blurry photos they sent, Cater’s being immaculate even if he was drunk and saved them all to his camera roll before grabbing a muffin and apple, pouring his drink into his cup and moving to the sitting room.
He stopped when he entered, a lone head was sitting on one of the couches, humming as she did…something.
“Hi,” she spoke up, Yuu swallowed his bite of an apple before approaching, sitting down to have her in his full view and noting some things.
One, she had no shoes on.
It was fine, he was Asain and shoes inside the dorm to him was a sin but with all the girls it looked like they would keep their shoes on so slippers he guessed.
Two, she had quite the airy feel to her from her slightly vacant gaze to her silver white hair, along with strange glasses adorned on her face.
Not the strangest thing he had seen, but something was definitely…magical about her. More so than anyone else.
Three, she was awake at 6 am.
“What are you doing up,” he demanded, crying slightly at his crass tone before coughing. “I thought you would still be asleep,” he asked more softly, the other shrugged as he placed her book down.
“I would..but the Wrackspurts woke me up,” she hummed, pushing her hair behind her ears.
“...What,” he asked, biting into his apple again as he leaned back.
‘Nasty little things,” she nodded. “Makes people's heads all unclear and unfocused,” she told him, shifting in her seat as she fixed her rather colorful cardigan.
“...Did the ghosts give you that,” he asked, not caring that it came from his closet. Neige had gifted it to him as a gag gift.
They…didn’t like one another to say the least.
…No, they fucking hated each other.
‘Yes, I was cold and my jumper didn’t really do anything. They said you wouldn’t mind,” she picked at the hem as Yuu shrugged.
‘Not really, a lot of my clothes I don’t wear a lot of the time. I usually stick to a style, you know,” he told her as he finished the apple and moved onto his muffin. “Let them know if you want more of them, I don’t mind.”
‘Thank you,” she smiled, Yuu nodding as he sipped his decaf. “...I’m sorry you heard my roommates,” she whispered, Yuu stilling all motions before he lowered his hand and swallowed his bite of the muffin. “They are incredibly rude. Already hid my shoes as you can see,” she lifted a leg as Yuu nodded.
“...How could you tell I knew,” he asked, not looking at her.
“The Wrackspurts,” she smiled, pointing to the glasses she wore. “I can see them around your head and…well..they are rude.”
“...I see,” he coughed. “Are they dangerous,” he asked, going back to eating as she shook her head.
‘No, they just make a nuisance of themselves,” she hummed, grabbing a glass of water on her side.
“Okay…thank you for the information,” he coughed, getting up and nodding at her. “What size shoe are you?”
“...I’m a 4,” she said, cokcing her head to the side.
“Shoto, go through my closet and take all the shoes gifted to me in sizes 4 and then the Rose Kingdom size 6 in shoes,” he told Shoto who appeared.
“Very kind of you. Should we also pull some clothes you don’t want anymore for the younger girls?”
“Yeah,” he nodded. “Make sure they don’t go into my closet though, I have a lot of valuables in there. As well as my makeup collab I am doing with Vil at the moment.”
‘Got Yuu chan,’ Shoto smiled as he urged her to follow him to the hall outside his closet. Yuu left the dorm, sighing as the cool autumn breeze hit him before he began to make his way to the mirror chamber, humming a slight tune as he did so trying to ignore the feelings that were welling up inside of him.
With a shake of his head he entered the Ignihyde mirror, smiling at the doom and gloom of the rather advanced dorm before making his way up the stairs to the dorm. He smiled at the lack of people about. His head shook fondly at their introvertedness and the fact they had virtual parties instead of actual parties to avoid leaving their dorm more than strictly necessary.
He grabbed his wristlet that let him into the dorm, scanning it with a smile as it lit up green and the locks clicked open to allow him entrance.
As he entered he felt as if he entered a fever dream.
Idia was in front of his new dorm members, screaming at them as various members of Ignihyde worked to put out a fire that was raging from one of the massive supercomputers. Ortho was yelling that the other computers were failing and that the dorm was in danger of losing power.
“...Oi, Pónos,” Yuu hissed as the boy was running around with spare parts. “What the hell happened!”
“What happened! What happened! They happened,” he screeched, pointing to the group. “They reacted badly to the computer and shot it with their pens! It overloaded the system and now we may lose our dorm,” he screeched out, Yuu taking the box of parts.
“Idia! What needs to be done!” Yuu and Pónos ran up to him as he was still screaming at the other dorm.
‘Huh!...Yuu! I need you to go to my room and shut down the whole system! You know my password. I need everything in the dorm shut down!”
‘On it,” Yuu handed the parts back to Pónos and rushed down the hall to Idia’s room, passing everyone as he called Ortho to focus on shutting down the other supercomputers before he shut down the system.
Skidding to a stop Yuu entered Idia’s room, clean for once as he had not had the time to forge his little nest of messiness and sat down at his computer. With skill obtained in the last year he entered Idia’s main server and initiated the shut down system of Ignihyde, setting the time for at least 24 hrs before he hit the commence button.
Within seconds the whole dorm went dark, its back up generators coming up as the small lights lit up and Yuu took a deep breath.
“...Damn,” he sighed, sitting there for a moment before getting up and heading out.
“YOU ARE LUCKY THAT I HAVE BETTER SHIT TO DEAL WITH THAN YOU TRASHING MY FUCKING DORM! DON’T DO IT AGAIN!”
Yuu blanched at Idia’s scream, the boy’s hair a bright red as he took in deep breaths ignoring all the wands pointed at him.
Not pens, wands. Like in the movies.
``Yo,” Yuu called, coming out with his hands in his pockets. “Lower the wands! What the hell is wrong with you all,” he demanded, coming beside Idia who was panting.
“What’s wrong with us! What was that thing! It was screeching and was making all this noise,” a kid with red hair demanded as Yuu glowered at him.
“It’s a monitor that needed maintenance,” Idia hissed, Yuu pushing him back with a slight warning in his eyes.
“Just cause it’s something new doesn’t mean you can just do whatever the hell you want,” Yuu snapped, eyes narrowed at them all as he sighed. “Honestly! Just keep to yourselves, not like anything was going to actually happen!”
“How were we supposed to know that,” a boy with dark skin demanded as Yuu rolled his eyes.
“Did you see any of the Ignihyde students acting scared? What made you think it was a good idea to shoot magic at something they were not reacting to,” Yuu demanded, stepping forward. “Basics 101,” he scoffed.
“How is any of this possible anyways,” a black haired student with glasses demanded as he came forward with the ginger.
“...What in the name of the seven are you speaking about,” Yuu grumbled as Idia moved to head back to the burned out Supercomputer.
‘H…How is all this technology even here in the first place,” he asked, motioning around to the whole lobby as Yuu stared at him like he was stupid.
“...You guys have no…like…phones or computers…like at all,’ Yuu demanded, shock settling into him as he realized that his friend's explanations weren’t fake.
“No! Magic messes with it and it causes things to explode,” one of the twins piped up.
“Magic and technology can’t mix,” his twin said, Yuu looking between them and Idia as he held up a hand in a way to say not to ask him.
He wasn’t ready to face that can of worms at all.
“...Okay, yeah so…Night Raven isn’t like that at all. So if you all need help with…I don’t know, using the technology here. Ask…don’t destroy anything because it will be a big nuisance if you do this all the time,” Yuu spoke slowly, some people’s faces pinching at the tone. ‘I have to message the others and tell all the girls too,” Yuu bemoaned, hand on his forehead as he ignored them all.
“...Can we send messages to the girls? I wanna speak with my sister,” a boy called out, Yuu turning to him like he was insane.
‘...Yes,” he told him.
“Can we use your owls then?”
“Owls,” Yuu and Ortho asked, Yuu in disbelief and Ortho with a bit of confusion.
“Owl Post?”
“I really need to make a call,’ Yuu breathed, ignoring him as Ortho came forward.
“We do not have owls,” He began, smiling through his mask even though it was pinched as Yuu whipped out his phone and scrolled down to one contact.
Beauty Queen.
“Yes Yuu,” Vil sighed as he answered, Yuu humming as he tried to speak. “Is something wrong?”
“...Did you know they don’t have like..tech at all? Like…using Owls to send letters?”
“....”
“...Cause they nearly blew up Ignihyde because one of the computers was undergoing maintenance, made a big noise and they…cast magic on it,” Yuu bluntly told him.
‘...”
“Vil?”
“...No…ROOK,” Vil screamed, Yuu moving his head away from the phone at the scream.
“Jeez! Warn a guy,” Yuu snorted as Vil spoke rapidly to his vice, both of them going into an argument about not letting them know or letting them fail before he was sent off on a mission to gather them all.
‘Sorry. Is Ignihyde okay?”
“Yeah, we had to shut down the whole dorm and now I am in an argument with these people,’ Yuu bemoaned, head thrown back.
“If they use letters I doubt they have phones. They don’t have any tech at all…Oh my Seven,” Vil breathed, no doubt fanning himself as Yuu nodded, turning to look at the group who were half ogling at him, half staring at him in contempt.
As if he cared.
“It won’t be much of a problem for the Diasomnia dorm, but it will be a problem when we are in the School itself. So I should warn Lilia,” Yuu hummed as Vil sighed, no doubt nodding along.
‘Yes, it would also be prudent to tell the staff about the development, we were told that no technology was allowed but I didn’t know it was to this extent,” Vil admitted.
``Apparently they don’t use technology because it interferes with magic and causes things to go haywire,” Yuu informed him as Vil scoffed.
“If the Valley of Thorns can figure it out, so can they,” he snapped, no doubt pacing at this point.
“Maybe things are different,” Yuu tried to defend them.
“Did you see their robes Yuu? If that is what they wear to school, they are so stuck in the past,” he breathed, Yuu shrugging as he crossed his arms and leaned back. “Some of them looked at our equipment as if they had never seen it before and I think some of them HAVEN’T.”
“...I’ll let Crewel know,” Yuu nodded, Vil humming in response. “I’ll also call Lilia.”
“I can handle Kalim,” Vil told him. “I am sure Idia will petition to have that house kicked out of his own.”
‘Can he? No other dorm has room, unless Heartslabyul wants 6 people a dorm room,” Yuu snorted.
‘I don’t know, but not even a day in and this happens,” Vil admitted. “I will see you at dinner.”
“At the lounge again?”
“It is the grand opening,” Vil smirked before hanging up.
“Yeah..” Yuu breathed before scrolling down to another contact.
Hound Father.
“Yuu! Is everything alright? You never call, is someone bothering you, has someone said something, are they demanding anything-”
“No, no,” Yuu cut off his adoptive father with a chuckle. ‘Just something I learned when visiting Ignihyde.”
“...Oh?”
``No tech…like at all in the school,” Yuu told him bluntly.
“We were told that yes.”
“No like…they don’t know what half of this stuff is,” Yuu explained. “Like they were doing some maintenance on the supercomputer, it made a noise and they shot some spells at it!”
“...Are you playing a prank on me?”
“No, Vil told me that some of them looked at some of the equipment we have like they have never seen it before. And they probably haven’t,” Yuu admitted. “Magic is most likely hidden in their world, with it some people never encountering the regular world,” he breathed.
“...This creates a whole new host of problems.”
“I think they use magic for like…everything,” Yuu pursed his lips.
“Heya! Crewel one of the kids left a bag and you’ll never believe what I found! Parchment, inkwells, manual scales-oh is the kiddo on the line,” Sam’s voice asked as it appeared.
“Yes, Yuu, I'm putting you on speaker.”
“Okay,” Yuu nodded, moving to be more comfortable as he waited.
“Oh my Seven,” Crewel breathed, Yuu worried before he explained. “Sam wasn’t kidding. This is all legitimate. Inkewell…is that a Quill?”
“You're kidding me,” Yuu breathed, holding a hand out to Idia who came to speak to him.
“No, no…get here as soon as you can…no, I’ll visit you later with this,” Crewel told him. “A potions book…I’ll be taking this.”
“No one’s made a complaint, I think they are thinking to borrow ours to be honest,” Sam chuckled. “I took a look, we ain’t got nothing like that here,” he admitted.
‘I’ll call you back Yuu. I’ll also be informing Crowley of the information, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Later.”
He lowered his phone, turning to Idia who gave him a weak smile.
“Things are gonna be bad here for the next few hours,” he explained, crossing his arms and Yuu looked back to see Ortho still talking to them. It looked heated.
“What’s going on?”
‘Ortho is trying to understand their school, it shows that they are living what things were like here like…300 years ago,” he scoffed, rolling his eyes. “He’s also trying to get them to understand that they need to be careful of the tech, but they are under the assumption that we are simply messing with them.”
“...Seven,” Yuu breathed.
“I know.”
“...He okay?”
Idia turned to where Yuu motioned too, seeing a boy who looked to be 15 a bit green around the gills as he was breathing heavily.
“...he better not vomit,” Idia whined as Yuu patted him on the shoulder.
“It’s okay. I’m leaving now anyways. I’ll speak to him.”
“Thanks,” Idia called as he moved back to his dorm members who were trying to install the new parts.
Yuu casually strolled up, noting that no one noticed he was getting close to the boy who looked ready to pass out. Grabbing a water bottle off a table, he unscrewed it and handed it to the boy who was sitting down.
‘Here, you need to drink before you dry heave,” he whispered, the boy jolting as he looked up. Yuu raised a brow at the buck teeth, along with his fearful face at the sight of Yuu. “It’s not poisoned,” Yuu joked as the boy gave a strained smile before taking it.
“..T..Thank you,” he murmured, holding the bottle as Yuu held out the cap.
“So the fire scare you,” he asked.
“....K…Kinda,” he admitted. “I’ve never seen something like that happen. I noticed everyone was pretty calm so I was gonna go and get some food but Dean and Seamus…”
“They reacted badly huh,” he finished, the boy nodding.
“Seamus had a…history of setting things on fire. He has weird control over pyrotechnics,” he admitted. “I tried to stop him but they were convinced something bad was going to happen so they put a freezing spell over it but…”
“Yeah well, magic isn’t usually used outside of classrooms, or self study,” he admitted.
“Yeah…we use it all the time. To get better at spells and stuff…”
“I understand it’s hard, but keep it to your rooms? The school has a lot of artifacts that can’t be repaired by magic,” Yuu warned.
‘Of…Of course.”
“Yuu Fujimaru,” Yuu introduced himself.
‘I’m Neville, Neville Longbottom.”
“A twist on Bond huh,” Yuu couldn’t help but say.
“...Huh?”
“Bond. James Bond,” Yuu played up his British accent with a giggle before it trailed off at his confused look. “Nothing?”
“We…we’ll I’m a pureblood.”
“...Pureblood?”
“Everyone in my family is a wizard, no one really goes out into the muggle…non-magical world,” he explained.
“Oh,’ Yuu breathed. ‘And I assume some people do?”
“Usually half bloods, but sometimes both their parents stay in the wizarding world. Umm.. Muggle Borns are usually the ones to bring muggle stuff into Hogwarts.”
“..I see, thanks for this,” Yuu nodded, turning to leave only to stop at the two twins blocking his path. “Can you move?”
‘What's a little firstie doing in a dorm that’s not his,’ the one the left asked.
“Yeah, not to mention what are you doing with Neville,” the right asked.
“One, I’m an Honorary member of Ignihyde, so you will find me here at times. Two, he was about to vomit and pass out. I gave him some water,” Yuu sneered, defensive as they shared a look.
“What do you think, Gred?”
“Well Forge…he seems like a snake to me.”
“Well Fred, George, that's what you think,” he snapped, hands shoved into his pockets. “I decided to be nice and get spat on, that's how you act to first years,” he challenged both of them, both crossing their arms.
“Really feisty huh Gred.”
“Yeah.”
“I’m out,’ Yuu rolled his eyes, pushing past them with a grunt and a scowl. “Look, I get that something bad happened and you're getting clowned up but you all gotta understand that’s how this place works. Take offense to every little thing and you ain’t getting nowhere,” he warned, waving goodbye to Idia who gave a thumbs up.
“He’s got more backbone than I thought Gred.”
“Yeah Forge, better make sure Ronnikins don’t do anything stupid.”
So they weren’t complete dunces, Yuu admitted as he walked out and to the mirror.
As he walked he took out his phone and went to the last person he needed to speak to.
Fellow Old Man.
“Hello Yuu. Something to tell me,” Lilia asked with a hum.
“...You know about the technology thing?”
‘Yes, I did some digging with a foolish first year who was snooping around. I also know about the blood purity thing, so I took his text book and I am looking through it at the moment.”
“It’s not good?”
‘No, we will need to clear things up fast.”
“...Does it have to be today,’ Yuu demanded, standing in the mirror chambers as he tapped his foot.
“No, I think during the opening we should make a plan on how to proceed with things,” Lilia admitted. “And I think it is time to take up your self defense training again.”
“...Do I have too?”
“I know it’s a tough subject, and trust me I hate your biological father for allowing you to be put in danger because of his profession. But I need…I want you to be safe,” he sighed. “Please, I will keep it minimal, but I want you to do this for me.”
“...Fine.”
“Good, now I will tell all the dorm leaders about what has happened. Enjoy the Unbirthday Party,” Lilia hummed before hanging up, Yuu sighing as he knew that calling Lilia was a waste of time.
“Damn old men,” he grumbled, moving to the rose laden mirror.
“Prefect,’ a second year student called out with a smile. ‘Just in time! They are all in the rose garden!”
“Thanks,” he waved, heading into the maze with a hum before a grin broke out on his face at the sound of his two idiots arguing.
“What makes you think that I am gonna let you sit with Yuu huh! You spent more time with him than me and I met him first!”
“You mean you were an ass to him first?”
‘Oh come on, seriously!”
‘It’s a valid argument,” Yuu commented as he entered, Ace and Deuce turning to him with a raised brow.
“Dude,’ Ace whined as Yuu smirked, sauntering over with a grin on his face before he took his spot between the two of them and three empty chairs. “I said I was sorry.”
“I know. But doesn’t mean we aren’t going to hold it against you,” he reminded his friend, Cater snickering as he sat down opposite of them.
“Might as well get used to it Ace! It's like having a younger sibling, they will do everything to make your life miserable for their own enjoyment,’ he giggled
“Are you sure it isn’t just Yuu,” Ace grunted, Yuu elbowing him in response as he yelped.
“It might,” Cater admitted as Yuu rolled his eyes and turned to Riddle and Trey.
“Now, given what has happened yesterday, all the preparations could not be met. But the most important ones have and I think that is good enough,” Riddle began, people nodding as yesterday was pretty wild. “So…I now commence our Unbirthday Party!”
“A Very Merry Unbirthday,” they all cheered as Trey snorted and moved over to the table where the others were waiting.
“How’s your head,” Trey asked first thing, everyone shrugging in response as they dolled out tea to one another.
“It’s fine, the wine was strong due to how old it was but there were a lot of us and only two bottles of it,” Yuu shook his head, delicately taking his tea. “How are things with your grandma Riddle?”
‘Fine,” he smiled. “She gave my mother a good lashing before she called the authorities. Thank you by the way…for…taking me to her that day when we spent the day together in the Rose Kingdom.”
“...Of course,” Yuu smiled. “Besides, your mother needed to learn the consequences.”
“...Yeah,” Riddle nodded, all of them smiling before going back to the usual festivities.
“So no tournament today,” Yuu asked, looking to see the playing field all groomed and well kept but devoid of any of the equipment.
“Unfortunately some of the hedgehogs are ill and we had to let them rest,” Trey told him, fixing his glasses as he took a slice of a tart for himself. “And given how we got…Merry last night…it was best if we didn’t do anything more strenuous than this,” he coughed, Yuu and the rest snorting.
‘The only ones who got ‘merry’ were Cater, Kalim and Floyd. Maybe Ruggie…but then again all he was doing was trying to climb Leona like a tree,” Yuu reminded him.
“Well, given the fact I don’t remember like…80% of the night after 11 pm, I say you're right about the Merry part,” he huffed, others rolling their eyes at him.
“How did you get drunk so fast dude,’ Ace asked. “I thought you were like…all in the know, you know?”
“Not really, you know that,” Cater grunted, taking a smaller tart and stabbing it. “I just follow the trends, I do what's needed…well I did. Seems like I’m a trendsetter now after Vil made that post about me when we were hanging out.”
“Oh, you mean the day before school ended,” Yuu remembered. “We were all at the beach enjoying some of the rays of sun before we had to leave Night Raven!”
‘Yeah, now everyone wants to use Cay-Kun or Cay-Cay as some sort of inside joke,” he sighed. “I regret trying so hard now, that I actually have like…People following me. Online and in person…”
“That’s what you get,” the first year trio sang out as he pouted and tossed the tart at them. Yuu caught it on his plate with a smile before eating happily as Deuce and Ace clapped.
“Enough of all of this, are you all ready for the new year,” Riddle hummed, sipping at his cup as the others groaned, Trey laughing as he fixed his glasses once more.
“I am, those two,” Yuu jerked his thumb to the two in question. “I’m not too sure myself. So…” He turned, smiling as their faces turned to pure horror.
“Crewel is going to be a down right nightmare,” Ace whined into his hands, some of the other students flinching at the mention of Crewel. “Yo! You think you can-”
‘Do even think about asking me. I won’t,” Yuu told him bluntly. “I am not helping you weasel your way into a better grade because Crewel is my dad-”
‘Dude come on!”
‘No, it’s not happening-”
Both of them soon devolved into an argument about Crewel before Deuce mentioned something off handed and it devolved even further into something that no one understood.
‘I don’t get their train of thought,” Trey giggled as Cater shook his head fondly, Yuu smacking Ace’s forehead in retaliation for something he said.
The boy yelped, rubbing the spot that was smack before he pinched Yuu’s upper arm, the boy not showing much of a reaction aside from a raise of his brow before he smacked Ace again.
‘Dude why,” he demanded, holding his forehead as Yuu snickered and grabbed his tea cup. “I don’t deserve this abuse!”
“Of course not, you deserve it for being an idiot and asking your professor's son,” Yuu rolled his eyes and Deuce held his stomach as he was laughing so hard.
“Shut it Juice,” Ace grumbled before gasping as he was jabbed on the side. “What is it! Mock and Abuse Trappola day!”
“...Sure, if that’s what you wanna call it,” both of them grinned as the table next to them devolved themselves into laughter, breaking into new giggles whenever anyone looked at Ace.
“Not cool man,” he grunted, shaking his head.
“It’s what you get,” Yuu snorted, looking at his friend who rolled his eyes.
‘Yeah, yeah. Yeah right,” he snorted, angrily eating a tart, he wasn’t one to take things to heart in this school.
Everyone was an asshole, it came with being a Night Raven Student and simply got progressively worse the more time you spent in the school. It was a trait that was needed simply in the end, lord knows Yuu wouldn’t have survived if he was a pushover.
“Well, I say this has been a good beginning to the Unbirthday party,” Riddle smiled, others snorting as Ace whined and Yuu raised his cup to Riddle.
‘It’s a nice way to start off the year,” Deuce nodded as a cough was heard.
“Hem, hem.”
All turned in unison to see a rather giant man with the pink women who held a utterly vile smile on her lips.
“...Is there a reason you are here,” Riddle asked, getting up with a motion for the others to stand back.
“...We were informed that we could look over the facility that we are to be teaching in for the year and I couldn’t help but notice that strange chamber with all the mirrors,” the woman began, sauntering in as the students shared looks.
‘Yes, mirrors to head to the dorms,” Riddle took up his Dorm Leader cane, walking forward to meet her with a stern face. ‘They act as gateways between the dorms.”
“...Can they not send us home as well,” she hummed, smiling as Yuu narrowed his eyes at her.
She was going to be trouble for sure.
“...No, only the Dark Mirror, which was shattered due to misunderstanding, is capable of doing such a thing,” Riddle informed her, Trey coming up beside him.
“Should I get the others out?”
‘No, our Unbirthday Party shall continue as planned,” Riddle assured him, Trey nodding as he stepped back and moved to be beside Cater who was livestreaming to the group.
A message popped up on Yuu’s phone, asking if they needed a teacher since they were all wary of the woman.
He said no for now, but to keep the phone close; they might need it later.
“I ask again, is there any reason as to why you are in my dorm? The one not holding any of your students,” he asked, crossing his arms as she hummed.
“Might I speak to the dorm leader,” she asked, looking at Trey who shook his head.
“You are Ma’am, second year student Riddle Rosehearts,” He said, the woman turning to him with such a sharp turn of her neck they all could hear a crack.
‘Second year..my boy you don’t like 12,” she began.
‘I am 16, to be 17 this year,” he informed her curtly. “If you have no solid or obvious reason for being here then I ask that you please leave. You are interrupting a very important tradition in my dorm and I would like to proceed without any other interruptions.”
“...I see, I see. I was simply wondering if you could shed light on your school-”
“You are speaking to a mass of minors without the consent of their parents or an adult present. Therefore I will not be answering anything you might want and my fellow dorm members will not be doing anything of the sort either. I ask you again please leave,” Riddle informed her curtly.
“What about him,” she turned to Yuu who stiffened in his seat as Ace whispered out a shocked
‘Dude, run!’
“He is an honorary member of my dorm and I am holding him to the same standards, not to mention he has a legal guardian here as he is the potions teacher in this school,” Riddle told her.
“Is he now,” she breathed.
“Yes, so I suggest you don’t try anything and once more please leave.”
“...What is this for anyway? Should you all not be working on spells and your summer homework?”
“You were here because of an accident, I understand you are trying to find similarities but you are causing discomfort within my dorm and within a cherished tradition within it. Leave,” Riddle ordered her.
“Dude, summer homework. Gross,” one student whispered.
``Is that what their students are doing…yikes!”
“I’d drop out for sure.”
“No summer homework.” She breathed, looking shocked as she looked around to their confused and disgusted faces at the thought of summer homework.
“Leave, or I will call the staff,” Riddle was at his wits end.
“My how rude are you to a teacher-”
‘But no teacher of mine. Make no mistake that what happened with the mirror was an accident that was unforeseen, but it was within the goodness of our hearts that we allowed you to stay here in Night Raven and within our own dorms. I owe you no more respect than I do a stranger on the street. Go,” he turned to head back to his table, sure she would leave.
‘Can you believe this Hagrid! This boy thinks he can push around a Wizard that has finished their education-”
‘You are not someone from this institution and thus I have no reason to listen to you-”
‘Just leave,” Yuu demanded, getting up with a huff as she turned on him. “Look, I get your stress and all, wanting to see the school you’ll be in for an extended amount of time, but stick to the places that your Students are in.”
“My boy, I believe you should let the adults and the leaders talk.”
‘I am one as well,” Yuu reminded her, coming beside Riddle who gave him a warning look.
They can’t know he’s magicless, not until they can scope them out.
Yuu placed a hand on Riddle’s to ground him as the lady scoffed and the giant shifted a bit uncomfortably.
“Ah yes, the ONLY member of your dorm. I wonder why that is?”
“You don’t need to know, I suggest you keep to your own students. We have our own problems to deal with so I would ask of you to respect that,” Yuu began, head raised high as Trey and Cater fist bumped under the table while Ace and Deuce silently cheered him on. “Unless you would like for me to consult both headmasters, leave.”
“...Funny how you think you have authority.”
“I do have authority. I am a recognized Dorm Leader of Night Raven College, the best student they have seen in 330 years and I will not be belittled. Leave.”
He then turned around, nodding to Cater who sent off a text telling them to send in reinforcements before looking back to the woman who held a tight smile.
“I would like to speak to your guardian.”
“And I am sure he is going to tell you the same thing I am about to tell you. Stay the hell away from me and my friends. You can go to our dorms that have YOUR students, but anywhere else I think should be left for us. The dorms are nothing more than places for us to rest. You don’t need to be here.”
“I will be having a serious talk with both your father and headmaster young boy-”
“I have more achievements and accolades than you will ever get in your life,’ Yuu snarled on his last wits end with her. “Do not call me a young boy.”
“...The disrespect. You won’t get far in life and especially in the ministry if you keep that up.”
“I’m not joining the government,” he snarled. “Can make it just fine as I am now. I have quite a few years left for me if I do say so myself.”
“I ams sure the ministry would love for you to do that but keeping magic secret is imperative for our safety-”
“Yo, you really keep magic secret,” a third year gaped as Trey blinked and Cater let out a horrified gasp.
“Dude I need magic to entertain those damned demon kids I babysit.”
“They're your little siblings.”
“Still.’
“I need to have an excuse as to why I am throwing leaves at people at mach ten,” another snickered. “Gotta practice right!”
``You're just an ass dude!”
“I still get away with hitting those old ass grandma’s that can’t keep their nose out of my business!”
“How dare you all break the state of secrecy!”
“The what,” Riddle asked. “You know what, leave, just leave. I don’t want to deal with this. The party is nearly ruined and I wish for it to go on as normal. Just leave, leave,” he pointed.
“Um…Madam Umbridge, I think it best if we do leave-”
“Silence Hagrid. I must know about them breaking the Statue of Secrecy.”
“I don’t know what that is, or what you and you people do in your own little school but we use magic whenever we need. So just leave and I mean it or I get violent!”
“You will not touch any adult young man I mean-IT,” she screeched when Yuu grabbed her wrist and twisted, forcing it behind her back and frog marching her out of the garden.
“Take her back to the teachers and I don’t care what happens to me, keep her out of here,” he snapped at hagrid who nodded sheepishly before he headed back to the party where Riddle summoned a wall of thorns and placed a fire resistant spell on it as the women huffed and puffed.
“Just wait until I speak to your father and your headmaster young man!”
“DON’Tcall me young man and good luck trying to get me in trouble. They won’t fucking belive you,” Yuu screamed, being at his wits end with the idiot.
‘Oh he’s pissed,” some of the Heartslabyul students whispered.
Yuu’s anger was legend at this point, that being said he didn’t care how people saw him and he didn’t care to hold himself back.
He gained quite the reputation for his unfiltered mouth after he exposed Niege for being a creep for Vil and sabotaging all his hero roles so they could work together. They had gotten into a rather public argument with plenty of videos and articles written about them and Neige’s strange obsession with Vil.
Not to mention the fact that it was Niege that struck first.
Their fight had been pretty legendary to say the least, both of them had ended up on the floor with Yuu screaming at him that he was a creep and Niege insinuating a whole slew of things about him and the dorm leaders which nearly tanked his reputation until he apologized for it and said he would be working on his school work for the time being.
Needless to say many people thought Yuu was a young badass who was willing to throw hands…and he was.
With anyone.
Anytime.
Even right now.
“How dare you-”
“GET OUT! I MEAN IT! GET OUT,”Yuu screamed, pointing to the exit despite her not even being able to see him.
``What in the name of the Seven!”
“Trien get them out please! They are ruining the unbirthday party,” Yuu begged, sighing as the two devolved into an argument themselves. Soon the voices faded as Trein led them out and Yuu huffed, moving back to his seat as Deuce and Ace held out their hands for high fives as Yuu snorted but did it anyways, everyone clapping and cheering for him.
“I knew he was gonna snap.”
“For sure!”
Yuu was pretty open with his emotions if they were to be honest and not to mention that the pink lady was getting on their nerves most of the time she was there.
“Honestly, the gall,’ Riddle shook his head as everyone went back to snacking and eating. “And what was this about a statue of secrecy?”
“I hate to think about it,” Yuu sighed, sipping his drink that had gone cold. “She ruined the party.”
‘I am sure the opening is going to go fine,``Riddle assured him.
“Yeah, all of us are gonna be VIP’s,’ Cater winked, giggling as they all rolled their eyes.
“Vil and you are securing Azul for the future for sure,’ Yuu snorted with a cough as he inhaled some of his tea.
‘All of us are,” Ace snorted himself, patting Yuu on the back. “We got so much press from that Beach Trip we took.”
He wasn't wrong, Yuu mused.
Their friend group had become pretty infamous over the summer, all of them had at least 1.5 million followers on Magicam each, with Vil topping at 6 million and Cater at the 2.5 million range. Yuu was in the middle at 4.5 due to his association with the various magical associations and his own brand within Vil’s company and the Niege incident as well.
But aside from that they had to take precautions from all the people who wanted to meet up with them like they were celebrities, essentially they were as Malleus’ overblot was pretty serious and it got lots of coverage, with that came all their attempts to save him.
Yuu was the main person not giving up on Malleus, but all of them tried their hardest as well, they were considered friends of the Draconia Line for the rest of Eternity for keeping people back who wanted to kill Malleus in his blot induced rage. So they were going to have things easier than most in their lives…
Networking am I right?
“I, for one thing, am looking forward to the food from Chef Louis! Rumor has it he came from Atlantis himself to cook in the Monstro lounge and not only was he impressed by the menu you had made,” cater smirked, Yuu shrugging as he winked.
``Japanese food, better than British food,” Yuu admitted.
“Is that where you live?”
“Britain? Yeah, I moved there when I was 4. I had lived there for a majority of my life honestly, but all their food is bland! Sushi is pretty good, but don’t forget the Ramen,’ cater and he high fived as Trey chuckled fondly.
“Chef Louis was starry eyed when he tried the Monstro Lounge’s food, offering a prime spot to Azul when he finished his education and Azul was blushing so hard,” he commented, eating some of his tart. “And he also asked for a collaboration between me and my family's bakery,” he hummed.
“Wow, are they gonna take it?”
‘Yeah, they think it will be fun to have some new sweets to try and make. Besides, the Queen is happy that there is collaboration between the two kingdoms, she’s been partial to our family's tarts for a while,” Trey gave a sheepish smile as some people gave an ‘ooohhhh’ and he gave them a light glare.
“Well…I gotta go. Vil expects me in Pomefiore to get all dolled up for the event since it is being broadcast and Chef Louis wants to show people how professional the establishment is.”
``We will be getting ready too,” Riddle nodded as he lowered the wall of thorns. “Get there safely.”
“I will, I will,” he assured them, all of them calling goodbyes and laters to him as he exited and went through the maze.
He dropped his shoulders, sighing as the intensity from earlier managed to wear off and he allowed himself to relax.
Mostly…
Maybe he did need to be on those antidepressants his doctor told him about.
Don’t get him wrong, he loved everything about his life, his new father, his friends, his job and his place in the associations but not actually having magic was straining him a lot…that and not having Grim either.
Crewel had been worried about him after he visited the Isle of Woe and Idia, the Isle often having a depressing effect on people and he was right since Yuu barely got of bed the first two nights he had returned, him eventually taking him to a doctor who recommended the medication but told them that he might be too young for something so strong.
But it was up to Yuu.
…Maybe he should take them.
“Ah, the impudent child,” an older joking voice froze Yuu in his tracks in the mirror chamber, looking up to see the oldest man he has ever seen. Adorned in beautiful deep purple robes that no doubt came from nobility and eyes that have seen a lot.
“...The Headmaster of the other school,’ Yuu commented, crossing his arms as he stared at the other. “I don’t care what she has to say, she was being rude.”
“No doubt, immensely so,” he agreed, nodding his head as he stepped closer but not looking at him. “Fasicating, these mirrors.”
“Yeah, they are. I have studied them a lot,” Yuu shifted, unsure if he should leave or not.”
‘You must be very powerful to be accepted into this institution, honestly it makes me happy that magic is not a qualifying factor for school,” he nodded.
“...I guess,” Yuu murmured.
“I do have a question for you, if you might indulge me my boy,” he asked, but instead of being annoyed with the nickname Yuu hummed. This man seemed to understand that he didn’t like to be talked down upon, so he let it slide for now.
“Sure, just..don’t let anyone know we spoke,” he coughed.
‘Of course, of course….why are you the only student in that dorm?”
“Special circumstance I guess,” Yuu shrugged. “I…I really don’t know too much myself.”
“Well, given your accolades, I am sure it is for the best. Intelligence, ambition and wit cannot be held or confined within something as confining as dorm attributes,” he hummed before Yuu nodded.
“You seem to know what sort of dorm I would be in from your school,” Yuu stated, moving a bit closer to him as the man smiled.
“I am sure that you would have done great things in that dorm, I am sure,” he nodded, clasping his hands in front of him as Yuu nodded.
“What does your school value,” Yuu asked curiously as he himself smiled.
“Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was founded on the four principles that the founders thought to be most important for young wizards and witches.”
“And those are?”
“Gryffindor is well known for courage, bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry,'' he smiled, Yuu making a face at that. “Hufflepuff is well known for loyalty, patience, hard work, fair-play, honesty, and tolerance,” he watched as the boy made a ‘eh’ gesture, as he himself shook his head. “Ravenclaw values intelligence, wit, cleverness, creativity, and wisdom,” Yuu shrugged, knowing full well he would hate the dorm since they would try to butt into his experiments with little doubt. “Slytherin values ambition, leadership, cunning, determination, and resourcefulness,” he smiled as the boy looked up at him for a minute before looking away. “But I doubt you would have an easy time.”
‘...They are purists aren’t they,” He sighed, looking up at the older man who raised a brow.
“My, how did you figure it out so fast?”
‘The dorm leader that houses the Slytherins? He’a a good friend and I spoke with a boy named Neville, he mentioned Purebloods and all this other sort of stuff,” Yuu admitted. “He also mentioned how they were all arrogant…or is it ignorant, I can’t remember what conclusion I drew. But I can only imagine what that means,” he rolled his eyes and the man huffed.
‘Indeed…my, we haven’t exchanged names. I know you well enough, I supposed, Yuu Fujimaru. Smartest boy in school and all around wonderful student.”
‘God they’re so embarrassing,” Yuu bemoaned.
“I am Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, though many just call me Dumbledore,” he smiled as Yuu raised his own brow at him.
“...why,” he asked, the older man shrugging.
‘Tradition, I suppose,” he smiled, Yuu snorting before he sighed.
‘Okay…Sorry if this is intrusive-” He began.
‘Here it is,” Dumbledore smiled.
“...Why do you look so sad,” Yuu asked, the man stilling before he relaxed and gave a sad smile at him.
“You really are befitting of such accolades,” he admitted. “I can see why you have been given a dorm all to yourself, ambition like yours cannot be held down.”
“I suppose so,” Yuu hummed, kicking at the floor. “But seriously, you look like someone who has not only failed but lost a lot.”
“...I suppose that we need to get a bit closer for you to understand me. But I can imagine that your teacher would like to keep you how you are…away from me and my staff,” he leaned down to come to Yuu level as he hummed. “For intelligence like yours is something one covers and adores, with the right people…they will turn into a beautiful blossom of knowledge. Wouldn’t you say you are in such a way?”
‘Indeed he is.”
“Headmaster-”
“Get to Pomefiore,” Crowlely told him, Yuu stepping back with a surprised blink before he scowled.
“We where just talking about that stupid pink lady that was making a fuss in the Rose Garden-”
“I know, but I would rather you be with me or your father if you are to speak to the teachers of this institution,” Crowley turned to Yuu with his piercing amber gaze. “Go.”
“...Seven, why are you acting so weird,” Yuu sighed, turning on his heel to leave. “Later, Mr. Dumbledore.”
“Goodbye Young Yuu,” he waved as they watched Yuu enter the mirror adorned with jewels, gold, peacock feathers and apples.
Crowley turned after he felt Yuu’s presence leave and narrowed his eyes at Dumbledore.
“I told you to stay away from him, I will not warn you again.”
Dumbledore gave a closed eyes smile at the thinly veiled threat the other Headmaster had uttered to him.
‘I must say, I am curious,” he began, coming forward slightly as Crowley narrowed his eyes. “He has a very distinct accent…” he stopped before the other, his hands collapsed in front of him as he held that infuriating smile on his face.
“....What of it?’ Crowley hissed, shaking slightly as this is what he hoped to avoid.
“One I have heard of in the plains outside in London…honestly, it sounds like the dialect from Sussex,” he commented, Crowley swallowing sweat going down the side of his face.
Yuu said his family resided in a Countryside manor in Sussex, and had been since he moved there at age four.
“Does it now,” Crowley hummed, smiling as he gave his own closed eyes smile as his hand clenched the top of his cane. “Well, he does sound like many from the Rose Kingdom,” he gave an awkward laugh to try and brush off what was his nerves.
“...yes, he also has a name similar to a student I should have had nearly five years ago. Yuu Fujimaru, from Sussex,” Dumbledore smiled, Crowley pursing his lips.
“...I see. Such a name is not common in your world?”
``In Japan yes, Britain not so much,” Dumbledore informed him.
“...I see.”
“I won’t ask, but I can only wonder,” He smiled, patting Crowley lightly on the shoulder. “I assume you treat your extraordinary students with much care.”
“...Of course I do,” he whispered, pursing his lips one more time before biting his upper one. “...What do you know?”
“No more than you. But I would like to speak to you later about you little prodigy. I think I might have some information you are looking for,” Dumbledore informed him.
‘What could you possibly know?”
“...The mirror spoke to me…or I heard it speak to me. But I think it is imperative for you to know,’ he patted his shoulder before heading out.
Crowley took in a deep breath, the mirrors words echoing in his mind and his heart clenched.
He needed to let Maleficent know of the spell he used, if he didn’t…
If he didn’t come clean…
Yuu could end up getting hurt…
Or he could end up dead.
Turning on his heel he rushed back to his Office, he had letters to pen and a meeting to set up…as well as setting up precautions for the upcoming year.
It was not going to be easy for sure.
Ahh…how annoying…but he is Gracious after all!
On Yuu’s walk to Pomefiore he felt the urge to go to Crowley and slap the shit out of him for some reason, he shrugged it off. It would happen again and then he’d do it twice.
Yeah…
“Good Seven,” Yuu breathed as he and Jack looked at the vast amount of reporters outside the Lounge.
“...Should we go…” He asked, a bit nervous as Leona yawned and Ruggie rolled his eyes.
“...Fuck it,” Yuu shrugged, heading down the hall and slapping his sunglasses onto his face.
‘It’s Fujimaru!”
Soon the swarm came.
“How do you feel with your discoveries being published in the latest issue of the Rune Societies accredited journal?”
“Have you agreed to be the face for the various makeup campaigns revolving around the great seven, if so will you be dressing in authentic clothing?”
“Is it true you have had a love interest in the past? Some people might say you are too young for such a scandal!”
“Rumors are circulating that you contemplated going to RSA, can you verify this and explain why you thought to change schools and decided against it?”
“Is it true that you are magicless in a magic school? Rumor said you have a magic pen though!”
‘There it is, right on his waist!”
“Fujimaru! What designer are you wearing!”
“Have you officially signed the papers to be the head of the De Vil fashion brand's newest line?!”
More cries for him to answer but he never did, ignoring them all as he and his friends entered the Lounge which was swamped with celebrities, models and various people of prominence in the magical sector of the world where mingling and gushing about the food made by the Octavinelle students who were cool as cucumbers.
“I knew those vultures were just waiting for you,” a joking voice said as they all turned to see a man they hadn’t seen in a few weeks.
“Hello Vance,” Yuu smiled, Vil’s father raising his champagne glass.
“I mean, my nephew told me about this place from your birthday party here, but this is nice. That Ashengrotto fellow is gonna go far,” he smiled, winking at him as they smiled.
“Yeah, well we better find him before his head goes too far up his own ass,” Yuu snorted as he took off his sunglasses.
‘I can see that,'' Vance snickered before heading off to his agent who waved at Yuu with a smile, still on his phone as always as the more subdued photographers and paparazzi milled about.
“Yuu! There you are,’ Azul gushed as he came over with Jade in tow. “Isn’t it amazing! Chef Louis loved the kitchen! Ma is so happy to be able to meet her idol and everything,” he breathed, Floyd in the back chewing on a toothpick as some of the younger kids who came with their celebrity parents spoke to him about something.
He always loved children, Yuu had noticed, and he didn’t mind spending time with them. Looks like he was forced to do that tonight.
“I’m glad. I’m surprised that day he followed you on Magicam,” Yuu admitted as they walked to their table.
‘Apparently his young Sous Chef had been gushing about my place when they came here for parent day to visit their sibling. Loved the aesthetic and the food, which I thank you for. You have given me so many new ideas that I can claim,” he sighed, pushing his glasses up happily as they were seated on the table from the night before.
“Yeah, well. Humble, Azul,” he whispered, laughing as his shoulder was pushed before plopping down beside Epel who winked at him before taking a small piece of bread and ripping into it, staring at Vil the whole time.
“You…You're gonna get it,’ Vil promised him with a hiss as Vance snickered at the sight.
“Country Kin are like that son,” He clapped his son on the shoulder with a smirk in his tone. “Your mama was like that and was up until she passed. Ain’t gonna change,” he drawled out, Epel smiling at him with a large toothy grin.
“Father,” he whined into his hand.
“What, I’m just saying that you are going to have a better time with country chic than ballroom glamor,” he defended, taking a step back as Epel leaned back in his chair with his hands behind his head.
“Score Epel-1, Vil-0,” Ortho noted as Idia snickered into his hand.
“Nice,” Jamil snorted into his cup as Kalim let out a joyful laugh.
“Did you hear the rumor,” Trey asked Yuu, the other shaking his head as food was being passed out.
``Apparently a whole wing has been given to Hogwarts to keep them away after the little stint today,” He explained, digging into his food with a hum.
“No surprise there,” Yuu snorted as he took up some chopsticks and grabbed a bit of sashimi. ‘What else.”
``Only rumor at this point but apparently, they hide magic,” he sounded like he couldn’t believe it and Yuu couldn’t himself. “That whole Statue of Secrecy was real and they had a whole argument about it. I heard it from Lorain who was doing some walking around to remember where his classes were.”
“..Weird,” Yuu shook his head as he raised his glass for more wine.
The waiter gave him a look until Vance motioned for him to do it, Yuu smiled at him with a soft gaze before waving goodbye to him.
“I know, they also were already like…2 or 3 weeks into the semester so they are keeping everything the same, they just needed the rooms which we managed to find for them quickly.”
“Night Raven is way too big,’ Yuu rolled his eyes.
‘I know,” Trey bemoaned before taking his own glass of wine. “But classes for us and them start Monday.”
“...Well I heard about our classes earlier today, but them already?”
“Crowley was pissed off and didn’t want to have any more meetings with them than needed and got them clothes, books, paper, and pens to shut them up,” Lilia butted in, upside down and floating as people murmured around them.
‘Isn’t that the great general of the Briar Valley!’
“Doesn’t he have a human son?”
“Look! He’s close with Fujimaru!’
More whispers happened as Lilia and Co ignored them with ease, the fae humming as he turned to Yuu.
“...Really,” Yuu deadpanned, annoyed at the diligence Crowley was showing them.
“...That woman in pink? Her name is Dolores Umbridge and I want you away from her,” Lilia told him sternly.
“I would rather drink acid than be anywhere willingly near her,’ Yuu told him blandly with his arms crossed.
“I know, but she is making a fuss about something all the time. It’s annoying,” Lilia grumbled as he continued to float. “And I want you to try and stay with the one brain cell duo as much as possible?”
“Hey,’ Ace whined as Deuce accepted his fate as part of such a group.
“It’s valid,” Leona murmured, nudging Ruggie who was hiding his smile.
“I’m not stupid Lilia,” Yuu reminded him. “I know I’m on her shit list after that stunt I pulled today,” he snickered, going in for a high five with Ace and Deuce, Epel grabbing one with a wink.
“Well, can’t deny that,” Lilia snickered before he went back to his seat.
‘I say she deserved it,” Sebek boomed before coughing as Silver slapped him upside the head with a warning glare. “She was rude and did not respect boundaries!”
“Yeah, I guess you're right.”
“My question is…do they actually not have modern tech or where they pulling my leg earlier,'' Idia asked, looking up as some people looked around. “Because things will get nasty if they don’t.”
“..They use owls to communicate Idia and according to Crewel they use manual scales too,” Yuu reminded them.
“...Good Seven,’ Lilia breathed, annoyed at the thought of the mess it was going to make. “I want to blame Crowley, but I really can’t now? Can I?”
‘Not really. Even the Briar Valley has moved onto all of that stuff as well,” Yuu reminded him as Silver pursed his lips.
“They haven’t seen beastmen…or the mer people…or the fae…I wonder if that will cause any problems.”
“I don’t know,” many of them murmured.
“...I’m curious about their magic…but I guess trial and error,” Kalim offered up, some of them nodding before a cough was heard.
“Hello! Hello! I am Chef Louis and I would like to take this time to thank young Azul Ashengrotto for allowing me to open up his rather amazing Lounge and bring you dishes only he is privy to. In about…3 or 4 years I hope to officially open the Monstro Lounge in Atlantis with this amazing youth,” he clapped as Azul came up with a flush, eagerly shaking hands with him.
He was a portly man who was a trout merman in his usual form, he had a rather impressive curly mustache and wore one of those comical chef’s hats.
Yuu could have sworn he was singing a song…Les Poissons?
Eh, he made great food so who cares.
“I want to thank you for coming here to a humble student run lounge,” he grinned. “And I want to thank all of my newest patrons, who aren’t so new as you have family members in this school and I want to keep the mystic going,” he winked as people began to laugh, his dorm members who were with their famous family members rolling their eyes at him. “Though the menu was only possible with the help of one of my closest friends here in Night Raven! Yuu Fujimaru,” he waved over to his table, Yuu standing up with a wave to the people.
“He’s gonna be a looker! For sure!”
“Yoo! Do you think he would take up the role as the young mystic from that famous book? It’s getting adapted into a screenplay I think!”
“He would be perfect right now!”
“He’s so cute! He’s got that loner boy air to him!”
“He is going to be a powerful magician for sure.”
That one had Yuu’s smile faltering for a moment before he walked over to Azul and shook Chef Louis' hands with a smile.
“So young and already a genius in so many fields,” Louis commented, smiling as the photographers took their canids.
“I get bored and boredom is a stressor and I think all people hate stress,” he laughed as Azul chuckled. “Besides, Azul wanted to revamp the menu and I had some ideas. It was a fun day,” he admitted.
‘I can imagine; best part about making food if I say so myself,” he grinned merrily. “Now I heard about this…event you have?”
“The Culinary Crucible,” Yuu nodded, people whispering about it as the students moaned about it. “It’s an extra course for us to gain life skills about cooking and food management. The eight open positions for each month have been filled already. Me and the dorm leaders agreed to do one together,” he admitted.
‘Now really,” Louis nodded, Yuu shrugging as Azul sighed.
“Myself, Azul Ashengrotto, Vil Schoenheit, Leona Kingscholar, Riddle Rosehearts, Kalim Al Asim, Idia Shroud and Malleus Draconia will be in the culinary crucible,” he informed him.
‘That’s going to be a sight! You have people judge your food, correct,” he asked, Yuu knowing where this was going.
“You really wanna judge us,” he asked as the dorm leader gave out an indignant ‘Hey’ in response.
“I certainly do! I want to see what some of the best Night Raven has to offer can do,” he grinned.
‘I’ll ask Headmaster Crowley. He’s always looking for publicity,” he mock whispered, people laughing at the inside joke.
“I look forward to it, when do you do it if I might ask?”
“We managed to nab the one in November to be honest. We have the inter house tournament to do in October so we will be busy then,” Yuu admitted.
“Pardon!” A voice called out, they turned to see a famous Magishift recruiter with the best player in the league at the moment, that’s right! A Savanaclaw regular mentioned his older brother was holding the title. “I have heard about your skill in the air fujimaru! Will you be joining?”
“I don’t have anyone in my dorm aside from me. I would have to join another dorm,” he smiled. “And I tend to be neutral, so I will be in the stands this year.” He informed the man who wilted as the two beastmen patted him on the back. “But there will be a special end game with dorm leaders vs vice dorm leaders. Since Azul has a condition that makes him unable to be in the air for long amounts of time, I will be taking his spot in the game.”
“Really,” he got up so fast Yuu was worried he'd get whiplash.
“Yes! Dorm leaders will be taking to the field in a special end performance versus their vice dorm leaders. That being said the Octavinelle leaders are both mermen and have conditions against being in the air for long amounts of time. So Jack Howl will be taking the Vice position while I take the leader position.”
‘Yes, yes! Thank you! I will be sure to book my ticket,” he gasped and soon Yuu’s phone blew up.
Yuu Fujimaru to play in a performance match at the NRC Interhouse tournament.
“...Already,” he deadpanned as people laughed.
“Well, I will be sure to cheer you on and I will be sure to come during the Culinary Crucible. It’s a week, no?”
“Yes!”
“I’m excited,” he clapped.
“I wanna be a judge too!”
“Me too!”
Soon people began to ask what sort of events Night Raven would be doing, all desperate to get close to the infamous 23 of Night Raven.
“Oh dear,” Azul commented as he and Yuu moved back to their seats as Dessert was wheeled out, Mr. and Mrs. Clover waved to their son who blushed and waved back.
“Sir, look at this,” Vance’s manager and Vil’s old babysitter murmured as he showed him his phone for Mockingbird. (Basically Twitter)

More and more posts about the group flooded the account with the hashtag InFamous 23, with popular tags being Dorm Leaders, Vice Leaders, First Years and so on.
‘Oh dear,” Vance shook his head.
“I think we will need to gather all their parents,” he whispered, shrugging as they watched all of them laugh and eat with one another. Not a single one on their phone.
Impressive.
“Well, the school year at hand is sure to be full of surprises,” he smiled, giggling as Epel began yelling at Vil for not wanting to use manners not doubt slightly tipsy but still coherent enough to annoy his son who looked exasperated but not angry, full country accent in tow.
“I hear a country boy,” a famous singer called out, standing up with a full smile. “Where is that country boy!”
“Yeah,” Epel yelled out, standing up with a fist raised. “Ain’t nothin better than a Country Boy,” he screamed out as the singer pointed at him with a feral smile nodding.
“Yeah boy!”
“Oh seven,” Vil whined, bursting out into laughter with Rook who was a bit red as well.
“...Alright then,” Jade commented as Floyd draped himself over Yuu who was laughing at the stupid faces Cater was making for his magicam.
“We are gonna be so smashed tomorrow,” Yuu realized as he hugged Floyd who grinned.
‘Yeah, but that's the fun part of fame right,” he chuckled as Vil’s cousin came out with a guitar!
“Come on! Let’s have fun tonight before these kiddos gotta get that education,” he called out, people cheering.
‘Just because you dropped out before you finished doesn’t mean I am doing the same Claude,” Vil yelled, annoyed at his cousin as he received a wink from him.
“Can I get Cater, Kalim and Lilia up here! I heard you're in the light Music Club,” he grinned.
“Hell yes,” Cater gasped, coming up with the other two and taking the second guitar with ease. Kalim rushed into the drums seat with an eager grin and prep in his step and Lilia winked to Silver who rolled his eyes, his hands already holding the bass.
“What have you guys been doing?”
“Yuu got us into this song! Mary on a Cross! Or Running up that Hill!’
“Nice, I like you little dude,” Claude yelled as he pointed to Yuu who gave a wave as thanks.
“You played for my birthday,” he reminded him.
“Still,’ he shrugged as they began the opening notes for Mary on A Cross.
“Come on loser, let’s dance,” Ace smirked, Deuce urging Jack and Sebek up as Jamil and Epel got into a dance battle.
‘How fun,'' many adults gushed, feeling like they were back in highschool and college. “Fuck it,” they all said at some point, joining the dance floor and enjoying the rest of the night.
Yuu laughed, danced and partied his whole night away, not caring for what would come in the morning.
He was enjoying himself now and that all that mattered.
The search for Applications and Qualifications for Night Raven College reached an all time peak the next morning once the articles of the night came out, magicam posts were posted and people began to look into the InFamous 23.
The search for Applications and Qualifications for Royal Sword Academy, on the other side of the Isle from Night Raven also reached an all time high.
If they couldn’t get into Night Raven, might as well do the second best thing right?
Each of the boys' Magicams went up by a million followers, Vil’s newest line and Yuu’s solo line also sold out in record time. The Society of Runes and Alchemist Society also has inquiries if Yuu was to speak at any public functions.
All the boys were none the wiser as things were going to get real heated real soon in Night Raven, the whole world in the back of their mind as their own little world in NRC was going to be rocked and tested continuously for the next school year.
But for now?
They enjoyed this time with one another.
